@WallyWest I think it's fine to patch game-breaking bugs (i.e. with Skyward Sword's softlock). But today's industry relies on patches to make games functional, when they should be working out of the box. Nintendo doesn't normally do this. But they've decided to vet bugs that aren't harming the vast majority of players.
Seeing today's patches, I miss the era where games shipped complete, imperfect or no. If there was a weird glitch in the game, it stayed there. Fun glitches shouldn't be stripped away.
I hope they do GameCube eventually. I've been holding off on most of their catalogue because I wanted to wait and get it a new console via Virtual Console. But if they don't, I'll probably just settle on getting the originals to play on the Wii.
You can understand where they were coming from after the Wii U's failure. But at the same time, I think they could have pivoted early or mid-generation to bring Call of Duty to the Switch when the numbers proved otherwise.
Tonally, Illumination could make something that taps into the more lighthearted side of Zelda. Perhaps like Skyward Sword, and not Twilight Princess. Then you can make references from entries throughout the franchise, like the Mario movie.
Sonic 5, huh? Looks good to me. Though I don't know how multiplayer's gonna work in a 2D Sonic context. It'd be cool if everyone got their own screen via online play.
The truth of the matter is that, even if Nintendo DID re-release Melee, the competitive community wouldn't take advantage of it due to small differences in input delay.
I've personally wanted GameCube Virtual Console for ages, with Melee to boot. But if Nintendo doesn't re-release it, I've considering breaking down and buying the OG game used, since I have a Wii that can play it.
Wouldn't compression bring the file size down tremendously? Like I know they're not Nintendo with compression, but as we've seen with DOOM, downscaling the graphics and audio would go a long way in decreasing its size.
Maybe they should try a 64 GB cart then? Yeah, I know they won't because of costs. But this seems more like an improbable dilemma. Not impossible.
The gameplay we saw, as Seacliff mentioned, had some big framerate drops. So there's no way it could (or should) have been released this year.
Though imagine if this new entry became the first globally released Yokai Watch game. It would be a big step in getting the franchise known in the west, I would hope.
One of the developer's comments suggest that, unlike the last DOOM, the game is being made with the Switch in mind. Which is really encouraging for the end product on Switch.
@Francema I play with the Joycon grip, but yikes. That must have been an oversight on Epic's part. Have you reported the gyro problem with the ingame bug-reporting feature?
@TheOpponent Adjust the motion controls to the numbers from GameXplain's video. It feels a lot better than the default setup. https://youtu.be/b5XKpMPgUCs?t=1m32s
@toiletseatgamer I have Fornite installed on my internal memory, but I'm experiencing the same problems. So it's not that. Hope Epic patches it soon though.
I hope basic features aren't locked behind the service. But considering how we haven't heard anything concrete on streaming apps coming to Switch, it probably is.
If it bundles all four of the mainline Scribblenauts games, count me in! I skipped Showdown on the Switch because it didn't seem like a real Scribblenauts game. Maybe now I'll get my fix.
I think this SHOULD be Sakurai's last Smash game. He's spent so much of his life working tirelessly on this series. Not only does he need a break, he should make the games that he wants to make (ala Kid Icarus or something original). He's earned it. Many times over, in fact.
Even in 2017, I got the sense that that 2018 would be a lull year for Nintendo. That said, with all the other franchises they're holding back on, I think 2019-20 will be primed with games galore.
Handheld gameplay wasn't on the show floor, but GameXplain got a chance to play it. Here's the video if anyone's interested: https://youtu.be/wEtCoKFgmuA
@DEZn00ts Couldn't agree more. Me personally, I would love to take advantage of Nintendo's multiplayer experiences. But no one around me plays video games. That's why online play is so valuable.
@SakuraHaruka It's a matter of accepting the good with the bad. I'm pretty sure there were plenty of people who wanted to write legitimate reviews. But for some reason, Nintendo wants to greatly filter the system. Even though sites like Amazon work well enough without the need for extensive moderation.
To be honest, I've seen Nintendo promote indie stuff far more than AAA releases (unless it's their own). Especially going off their eShop and YouTube pages.

Glad for Microsoft here. This whole acquisition situation has been silly.

@justin233 They're well-designed collectible figurines at a low price. That's the draw.
Re: Miyamoto Regrets Design Choices Made During Development Of Super Mario Run
I played Super Mario Run in under an hour, then deleted it. The game is simply not fun in my opinion. Toad Rallies are a little better though.

But will it have touch controls undocked? Apparently Showdown did not.

Re: Star Fox Swoops Into Starlink: Battle For Atlas, Arrives On 16th October
@Knuckles-Fajita You mean Adventures? That would've been a second party game, ala Rare.
Assault was handled by Namco Bandai, a third party developer. And at least from what I've heard, that game isn't terrible.
Re: EA Says Fifa 19 On Switch Will Build Upon Its Custom Engine To Improve Graphics
As long as it gets the modes of all the others versions this time. That's an area where NBA 2K18 excelled.
Re: Walmart Leak Reveals Team Sonic Racing Before It Leaves The Garage
Looks good to me. I never really cared for SEGA's other properties aside from Super Monkey Ball and Persona, so the Sonic focus is welcome.

Nintendo needs to stop thinking they can moderate everything. This is the internet for crying out loud. Spam reviews are an inevitability.

@Thegreatcraig Same! I was reluctant trying out Fire Emblem before Heroes. But now that I've gotten a taste of it, I want to play other FE titles.
