So now, with Jurassic World Evolution still unplayable on Switch 2 since the beginning, due to unnatural brown/pink/green colors, there is also these new problems with RE4? I did'nt test this one since progression problem has been mentionned and this is a game I like to keep multiple saves at important story points, but to hear that, plus camera unnatural shaking plus more problems with my favorite mode mercenaries, I hope all this will be fixed sonner rather than later.
I am a little worried for both games as Jurassic World has this problem since the beginning (6 months already) and RE4 had a just 1 or 2 updates since like 2019 and motion controls are still nowhere to be seen even after community requests.
So for RE Requiem my main hope is a VR mode on PS5/PSVR2, with maybe a demo to come. About Switch 2, the most RE native games beeing ported the better, Requiem seems possible with some minor downgrade of ray-tracing, resolution but there are many other games they could release before with real native versions, no cloud-based jokes.
I hope Jurassic Wolrd Evolution will be patched eventually (horrible pink/green satured colors) but I think to just wait for Switch 2 hardware updates won't suffice, it would need a proper patch from Frontier. On the good side, it seems the framerate has benefit from the new hardware with a boost but because of the bugged colors, it remains nearly unplayable currently.
I will want to be sure to backup those Switch 1 (microSD card) screenshots and videos before doing the system transfer to Switch 2 as I fear that, because I don't buy a new microSD Express card before a while, I could be reverted back from 10000 screenshots and 1000 videos (Switch 1 and microSD official storage for that) to a possible absurd returning limit of 1000 screenshots and 100 videos (Switch 2 system memory?).
@Dang_69 About the system transfer, I think I've read somewhere (possibly here at nintendolife.com) that this will be the first Nintendo systems transfer that will continue to let you play all your games on both systems after it's done, except for Animal Crossing. But I could be wrong, it would need verification.
I assume because many graphics settings specify 60 fps, some may be locked (performance mode) and the 2 others may not be. And for the track number, I remember that as specified in the article, Fast RMX only got some new tracks, the majority coming from the Wii U game. But later down the line, they added a bunch of new tracks (between 8 and 12 I think) in Fast RMX that fused 2 existing maps together. I see it coming later down the line for Fast fusion as well.
Why not release an actual port (no cloud version non-sense) of 4 the same day as a release of the original on Nintendo Switch Online Gamecube library? And after that, yes, I can't see why they would not release any native versions of the other games since 7, in the order they want. Pwrsonnaly, even if I have all these titles on PS5, I could plunge again on RE7 and either Village or 4, but nothing could beat the VR Playstation versions, which make me think, would Nintendo release an actual VR accessory eventually?
I loved Fast Racing Neo on Wii U and Fast RMX on Switch. I will check for Fast Fusion surely. The fact that the complete game at 4k weights less than 4 Gb sure is something. They are up there with Nintendo as compression masters.
It would be ideal for it to lauch with the inevitable new Mario 3D platformer game and around the end of 2025 with Mario Kart 9. For the technical side, I just hope for 4K capabilities via the dock because if they don't have that, I fear a Wii situation effect, even sooner, where after a strong enough start, the interest would suddenly dire after like 2-3 years max because of the lack of this. I mean, PS4 pro released in 2016 and did 4K.
I am confident Super Mario Land 1 and Wario Land (SML3) will be added eventually, but it is unfortunate that they have not been added already. The 2 sports added in this update are good ones though apparently.
Resident Evil 7 VR, but an hypothetic version (currently in development I hope) for PSVR2. Also Witcher 3 even if there is so much in this game I can't remember that much.
I have the original and the 3DS remaster, no need for me to buy it again on Switch. The 3D visuals of those hallways on the 3DS make that version the definitive one for me.
Nice surprise. Well, I already bought the game back then on DS, I was pretty impressed, I jumped on the 3DS remaster on my New 3DS XL and that version l was amazing, the 3D really add to the immersion. I hoped for the remaster of the second game but now I understand with some comments. But to buy it a 3rd time on Switch, no not so much of a graphical remaster, weird metal cover soundtrack (I actually love metal music, but it is too similar to Doom). Interesting for those that never bought the game, maybe not at full price given the number of horror games on Switch compared to DS and 3DS.
@Mauzuri If I remember well, there is an option to tune down the violence when defeating opponents, probably one one of the first in the gameplay section.
It seems fairly easy to reproduce, but it can't become more notorious than the infamous castle crush glitch in DKC2 that already erased my 3 save files from my DKC2 cartridge and that could apparently make the game permently locked and unusable in some cases.
The timing of the release of the Wii U was not going to help either, with the release of PS4 and Xbox One a year later. I possibly saw the trailer at time but I can't remind so it says a lot about the first impression. But some years later, I went to a friend's house try Mario Maker and see the Wii U for the first time. Having drawn super mario levels a lot when I was a child, I was instantly hooked. So especially for that game and for the Wii backward conpatibility, I found a used Wii U in summer 2016 and bought Mario Maker. But I barely bough anything else. With that Switch trailer launching in october of the same year, and because I always prefered handheld consoles, I knew I need that Switch console and Zelda game at launch. Seriously, the Zelda trailer of the big january 2017 Switch event could be considered the best game trailer ever.
So Switch reveal trailer beats Wii U one in every way and I would have love to find one of those car atttachment for letting my kids play multiplayer Switch games in car lol. One strange thing is even if I always slightly prefer handheld consoles and games, to make the most of my new Switch, I bought a TV for it, so since then, I think I played Switch docked 90% of the time.
For the PS5 finally beeing first in Japan charts, I can see God of War Ragnarok imminent release as a possible cause and PS5 consoles stock issues slowly coming to an end.
In just 3 days, Splatoon 3 physical sales reached 40% of lifetime sales of Mario Kart 8 deluxe physical sales in Japan, with that game released more than 5 years ago (if my maths are good) !!! The obsession for this series is crazy.
@Desrever There were already many checkpoints on each level, only now, you could choose any of those previous checkpoints at will, not just the current or the previous, for new playthrough only.
Good news, especially for restart from any checkpoint feature. I assume the update will roll out also for the PSVR option even if I agree the HD rumble adds something to the experience on Switch. Well, I am hoping for an eventual PS5/PSVR2 free update with Dualsense at that point. And for the PSVR2 option , a real 360 field of view with all the visual effects and curves of the tracks visible would be appreciated, not just a track coming straight from behind in the rear view with the visual effects disapearing.
So before long with all these limites run games news, do we have to assume before long, they will be the only ones assuming physical copy duty of games? For a game like the one of this article, it's understandable but for games like DOOM Eternal, ... sad times
I saw the trailer in early 2017 and I know I need to buy that game that seemed pretty unique, which I did at release. I enjoyed it a lot, the difficulty curve hits hard from levels 4-5 but I succeeded to finish it. I particulary enjoyed the ambiance and the implementation of HD rumble, more specifically for the orbs you launch to the boss head. One year later, I got a combo of PS4+PSVR, mainly for PSVR and Resident Evil 7, and the second game I bought for VR was Thumper. The immersion gets pretty amazing in that, and the size of the boss towering you is increased by 4. But the 2 things I like less with that version is the lack of advanced rumble after having tried the switch version (did anyone called a PS5/PSVR2 option with dualsense/senses avanced haptics and adaptive triggers?). And also, the 3D of the VR makes the game a a lot easier, too much if you ask me.
I never played a Pokemon game neither have interest to play one. The first Game Boy games were popular in a first period of my life where I almost stopped playing videogames, (for 2-3 years) to play music instead (piano, electric guitar). I seriously got back to videogames at Nintendo DS (original) release but by then, Pokemon games got like 12 games released, that made me have even less interest than before. This type of game is definitely not for me.
@BongoBongo123 yes absolutly, with honorable mention for the original on DS (I never played the 2nd) and for Resident Evil Revelations on 3DS.
A little strange that there was no mention on Switch versions of Layers of fear and Outlast games.
I just though about a interesting game that should have been released on 3DS : Virtual Boy Complete collection. We could have finally experienced the 3D effects without side-effects and played some lost gems : Wario land, Mario Tennis, Red alarm
So now I just want to go back to Deadly creatures on the Wii, a game where you play as either a tarentula or a scorpion, now that's something, and actually a great game if you ask me.
I live in Quebec and since I bought my Switch on launch day, I got the problem with 3 joy-cons (I got an entire Switch replacement the first time with an additionnal warranty, and I got the problem with both joy-con between 1 and 2 years later, and send them to Nintendo for repair So yes I just filled the class action lawsuit.
A question I would like to ask to Nintendo...Could we get the All-Star style graphics for the SMB1 and SMB3 playstyles as an option in Super Mario Maker 2 now? Thanks!
On a sidenote, I slightly prefer the original style graphics over the 16-bit style apart for some stages exceptions, but that all-stars 16 bits style definitly has its charm.
And yeah the soudtracks kind of sounds samey on all-stars.
Burnout 3 was the first Burnout game I tried and enjoyed 15 years ago, on a friend's PS2. Some years later I tried Burnout paradise on PC and enjoyed it also, even if the open world structure does not have the same appeal (no possibility to immediately retry a missed race).
I bought the Switch edition when it launched and I enjoy it, and I will continue to play it from time to time, but that awaken my need for coming back to Burnout 3. So I found that game at the end of june, plus a PS2 slim console, plus 2 controllers (for multiplayer races, road rages or crashes).
By coming back to B3, it is as fun as I remember and has aged gracefully apart from some rude difficulty spikes for some preview lap events and some races. By exemple, after having tried it like 60 times, I achieved a silver medal for the sadistic Tropical drive preview lap with a F1. The time to achieve for a gold medal is 3min50, which required not to do a single crash, we're talking a difficulty over Cuphead here if yoy ask me...pretty frustrating...
I will probably continue Burnout 3:Takedown (PS2) and continue with Burnout Paradise (Switch), then continue Iron Man VR (PS4). Eventually, I will complete the main quest of Witcher 3 (Switch) also.
If I play a graphic-intensive game like Doom for a certain period of time docked, the first minute I undock the Switch to continue handheld, the fan power increase to 10. During this, the Switch is effectively hot, but only for 2-3 minutes I would say. No use for me then.
I will normally buy the Switch version of Doom eternal as I did buy Doom on Switch at release at november 2017 and loved it. I am also a musician (guitar, vocals) in metal style of music. This shows us all struggles and difficulties involved at creating an entire videogame music library in both videogame format and OST format. This side of the story seems to show us that Mick Gordon did bot manage those deadline constraints all that well, but we don't know all. I was waiting for this "music soundtrack" in a sense that it would involde heavy metal choirs in some kind of way. But if Mick does not return to Doom future games, I am confident that another composer could fill the void nicely with a similar heavy metal style.
@charlieonholiday . Yeah, what a disapointment for the lack of gyro controls in RE4 even if they implemented them in Resident Evil revelations 1 and 2 on Switch, they had no excuse for this. But still, the replay value of RE4 always do the trick for me, mainly because I am finally able to play it handheld.
Streets of rage 4, Resident Evil 4 and Grid Autosport on Switch. Maybe a little 3D Streets of rage 2 on 3DS. And I'll probably continue to play some PSP games that I enjoyed recently like Burnout legends and Motorstorm Artic Edge
Like others said, I was really hoping seeing the hammer suit and tanooki suit from SMB3 after seeing the frog one, especially the hammer which only has like 3-4 mostly hidden appearences in the original game. Still, the inclusion of an actual world builder and the 7 koopalings is a game changer for me. I always created my levels as if they were part of a game splitted in distinct worlds, so at least, it will be possible now to share my levels as part of a custom game.
Thumper is awesome, even if rhe second half is somewhat repetitive. But the growing challenge and atmosphere, coupled with an high score chase makes it one of the best Switch games overall for me.
