I bought the game, and while it is as enjoyable as the original release, the annoying thing is that there is a serious bug with the weapon collection aspect. Only the first 4 or 5 weapons can be taken into other missions. The other ones are not selectable in the menu, even though they show up in the hideout firing range.
@Zanzox It seems most of the SNK published Neo Geo games are released. The ones missing including the Technos games, Hudson/Konami games, and Visco games which got published by Qubyte.
@LikelySatan Oh yeah Hitman Absolution caused lots of controversy with that take. It's the only one in the series with an exploitation movie feel, with extremely exaggerated villains to boot.
The mod is really fun and feels like an entirely different shooter like Sin. Unfortunately I've had several crashes, apparently due to running out memory according to the error message.
It's another case of ININ/SLG banking on audience confusion. A reminder that this is not the same as "Steel Empire Chronicles" which is also for preorder. Legend is basically a HD remake based on the 3DS version, while Chronicles is a compilation that also contains the Genesis, GBA, and 3DS versions.
@EarthboundBenjy Same reason why the PS1 Contra games weren't included in its collection. It wasn't made by Konami and was poorly received, plus it's easier to emulate SNES and Genesis games than one from the PS360 era.
FFS why can't Konami use M2 who made the Castlevania/Contra collections or Digital Eclipse who made the TMNT collection? I played LRG's Jurassic Park collection and the emulation quality is absolutely horrid with limited options to boot.
@Astral-Grain I played it on the mobile phone version and found them to be absolutely useless and turned them off. It makes sense in the World of Assassination trilogy where big maps necessitates their use, but Blood Money's maps are quite small and objectives are mostly direct.
@TrixieSparkle It's pretty much a video game adaption of Monopoly with extras such as a stock market and power ups. It's very popular in East Asian countries among casuals, although many felt that the entries after 4 didn't innovate much.
One great thing about the Steam version is the ability to download add-on maps, and I hope the Switch version let us do that somehow. Someone ported Eye of the Beholder to the Legend of Grimrock engine.
The sequel is even better. Instead of a single dungeon you have an overworld on an island with multiple dungeons. I wish both games are released together.
@Servbot_EJ Seems like AA stopped doing business with whoever owns the rights to Technos' back catalogue. There are still some missing games like Combatribes, Double Dragon Neo Geo, Shadow Force, and Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer.
@HammerGalladeBro Solitary Fighter is pretty much Violence Fight Championship Edition, which retained "Lick Joe", "Sammy You", and other mangled English.
Meh. Last week's Mystic Warriors was way better, being pretty much Sunset Riders 2 but with sci-fi ninjas instead.
Also it's worth noting that Johnny Turbo's Arcade series got delisted, which included Burgertime, Dark Seal, Joe & Mac, Night Slashers etc. I just hope Hamster picked up the license and do a proper emulation this time.
This makes me fear the Jurassic Park Collection being pulled some day. And I get the feeling that only the Ocean developed games were planned, and the Sega developed one were only added due to fan backlash.
Flashback 2 being trashed is not surprising. Paul Cuisset the original creator has been on a downward trajectory ever since the original. The 2013 remake got similarly bad reviews, and so did Amy, another creation of his.
Not surprising since Geoff is also known as the Doritos Pope. He likes to pretend that the Game Awards are the gaming equivalent of the Academy Awards, but imagine if the Oscars hurried winners through their speeches and don't even invite half the winner to the stage, because they interfered with the precious ad time for 40+ "exclusive trailers" for upcoming movies.
@Anti-Matter I don't trust Sony one bit. They recently announced that they will remove all media from Discovery from PSN, even if you paid for it, totally gone from your library.
TBH is still less frivolous that those who spend thousands on LRG's physical rereleases on games less than 1 GB big. To get what? Another Switch card that you have to swap out every time I want to play it?
The fact that the review is complaining about the lack of Window 98 and PS2 games is laughable. They're relatively harder to emulate than 8/16 bit games, and including them would've doubled the game's size and price. And they weren't based on the first movie to begin with.
@vio Irrelevant. Removed content is removed content, and just because you don't play multiplayer doesn't mean everyone else share your opinion. Plenty of people, including myself, had fun with split screen multiplayer back in the day and would gladly get back to it.
I got the game just now, and while the single player campaign runs as well (if you don't mind a more linear scripted experience akin to Half-Life), what annoys me is the fact that multiplayer is completely removed. I had great memories of multiplayer back in the day.
This makes no sense. Are the EU/AU versions of the game different variants from the worldwide version? What if I switch to the AU eshop, buy it there, and and switch to the US region on Nov 30 for the update?
The good thing about the Super DD release is that it comes with the Japanese version which toned down the difficulty, and there are options to adjust gameplay speed, as the original only ran at 30 FPS.
@sanderev Your strawman slandering the animator is ridiculous, and so is your definition of piracy. Point out to me where the animator is trying to make money off it by charging for the film.
Sucking up to Nintendo's corporate suits won't make them hire you.
I really wished Arcade Archives got the rights instead. The biggest flaw in the collection is that you cannot change the DIP settings at all, such as modifying difficulty or remove the how to play screen.
Also they Vasara games aren't included because they aren't Neogeo games, and runs on a different engine.
Hate to say this but Aspyr did a really poor job on the ports. Jedi Outcast and Republic Commando removed multiplayer, Ep 1 Racer has texture issues, and KOTOR introduced a bug that sticks you in the final tomb in Korriban.
@ObsidianEleven Imagine being so obsessed with a little piece of plastic that you need to insert before you can play the game. I'm sorry but digital is the way of the future whether you like it or not and most physical copies don't even come with the full game on it anyway.
This is just a waste of money seeing the random selections of games in the previous collections. When people think of Taito, they think of Space Invaders and Darius, not Dino Rex or Solitary Fighter. You're better off with Arcade Archives and buy the ones you want.
@Stamina_Wheel Unfortunately Epic nowadays doesn't care about games not named Fortnite. They actually delisted all of the Unreal games from Steam and GOG, the same games that made the company and one of the most popular game engines nowadays.
I hope Nightdive can pick up Aspyr's horrible job on Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy and deliver a quality experience akin to the Quake 2 remaster. Aspyr ported the PC versions barebones and didn't even include multiplayer not rebindable keys for Jedi Outcast.
@JAPBOO The N64 version's levels are completely different from the PC version, and the story was heavy cut down in order to fit the cartridge. It also has colored lighting carried over from Quake 64, and a different soundtrack consisting of ambient music, similar to Doom 64/PS1.
While I think the PC version is far superior, it is a great bonus for people who grew up with it or want to check out an alternative version of Quake 2. The remaster fixed one of the biggest problems with the N64 version, its janky animation and frame rate.
I want to give special mention to the Quake 2 N64 remake. The N64 couldn't support the Quake 2 engine so a different game was cobbled together using the Quake 1 engine, with shortened levels, and removed quite a few animations in the process. The remake converted it back to the Quake 2 engine and readded the missing animations.
Also unlike the Quake 1 remaster, this time Nightdive added several changes to the campaign, mostly from cut material. For instance, the Berserker gained a new ground pound attack to close in on you, and the guards can now jump over obstacles. Furthermore, the Machine Gun's aim no longer drift upwards, and now all weapons come with muzzle flashes, which were missing from the original game for some reason.
The Quake 2 N64 remake is well done. The remake converted it back to the Quake 2 engine and readded the missing animations.
Also it's worth mentioning several enemies gained new attacks that were cut from the original release, together with muzzle flashes, which were mysteriously missing from the original release.

Re: Review: Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection (Switch) - A Fair Flock, But Far From 'Classic'
Yep what annoys me is the lack of the Game Gear/Master System version. Come on, both Game Boy versions are included.
Also there was a MS DOS version back in the day, which is pretty much a more advanced adaption of the SNES version. I wish that was included as well.
Re: Review: Irem Collection Volume 1 (Switch) - Three Great Games, But One Slim Package
If you're only interested in the arcade versions, I'd say that grabbing both Image Fight and X Multiply off Arcade Archives is better value.
I'm holding off for Vol 2 though, that's where you get Gunforce 2 which is basically Metal Slug 0 with very similar artwork and gameplay.

@vio Not currently, but the Quake N64 mod didn't exist until the Quake remaster, so I'm hoping the devs would do the same with Quake 2.
