@kfflscnt I don't think MS even published physical copies of their PS5 ports. The last MS published game on Switch that got a physical release were the Ori games IIRC, and that was done by a third party.
@SalvorHardin Well Gears 1 actually made sense since it was mostly set in a destroyed town. Gears 3 and its sequels are far more colourful since there's are sections set outside of cities.
Digging into the series, I can see how some people can get confused. The original PC-98 version of Variable Geo does cross a line, where your winning character sexual assaults the losing female fighters.
Looking forward to the showdown between Shinobi AOV and Ninja Gaiden RB. The interesting thing is that while Shinobi AOV is developed by Lizardcube which developed SOR4, Ninja Gaiden RB is published by Dotemu which published SOR4. It makes me wonder if there were any behind the scenes shenanigans which broke apart the partnership and one party took their idea of their 2D ninja game reboot to a rival franchise.
Seems Plasma Sword is the DC version and not the original arcade version. I guess Capcom doesn't want to make a separate emulator for the PS1-based arcade hardware.
@neogyo Sadly I gave up physical game collections a while back, especially with companies like Take 2 putting incomplete games on the card and expecting you to download the rest. And I'm rather annoyed by the lack of regulation from the limited print physical games market, where some people waited years for the games they preordered.
It's very annoying that the game is almost double the price of the Castlevania GBA and DS collections. If you don't care about the extras it's cheaper to get the Arcade Classics Collection, and Gradius 3 is available separately on Arcade Archives.
I'm holding out for a physical release. The game is 14 GBs and is far too big to download for me. IIRC Onimusha 1 had a physical release but only in Japan.
@Rodolfo6493 Because Saturn games are rather difficult to emulate, and the ones on Switch from the Saturn Tribute series all have varying degrees of input lag. A pity because the Saturn version does have a few exclusive levels.
Strange Activision is going this way, considering that 1+2 on Switch is around 13 GBs and only requires a minimal download for the physical copy. Also the eshop says that 3+4 is only around 6 GBs, which could easily fit a card.
Personally I'm hoping for more 32-bit titles, especially Taito F3 games. There are a couple from other companies such as the Saturn Tribute series and M2's own emulations, but I do like a cheaper option.
Tetris Grandmaster 1 runs on PS1-based arcade hardware so Hamster definitely have the capabilities of doing so.
@Stormcloudlive Seems the rights of the game lies with Data East. While there are some DE games on AA, the majority were with the Flying Tiger which made the Johnny Turbo line. Most of the games were pulled a few years ago and AA has yet to acquire them.
@Not_Soos You have to take it up with WB which now owns Midway's IPs. They'd rather sit on it than rerelease their old games, and they turned down LRG when they wanted to rerelease Konami's old Animaniacs and Tiny Toons games.
@dmcc0 I think he's making the claim that "85% of Switch physical games can be played offline", not that "85% of Switch games sales are physical".
But yeah, a significant amount of Switch games are digital-only, and so are digital purchases. The likes of limited print physical games are more catered to a niche collectors audience and aren't widely accessible.
I love Nightdive's remasters, but they can be really slow with updates. I'm still waiting multiplayer to be added back for the Turok 3 remaster - bot matches were a blast on the N64.
Unfortunately, what Tetris game could be included depends on who developed and published it back in the day. Most of the ones on the collection came from Bullet Proof Software, which was founded by Henk Rogers back in the day, now at The Tetris Company. The versions by Sega and Jaleco for instance require the permissions of the respective companies for a rerelease.
Be warned though that LRG somehow forgot to implement the ability to remap your controls. So the default is Y for shurikens, B to jump, and A for melee. If you're used to the GBA layout you have to manually remap your settings from system settings.
Well, people actually bought Mario Party Jamboree and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. Astrobot sold only around 1.5 million units, quite a low number for a console that shipped 75 million.
The strange thing is that Plasma Sword in the collection is the Dreamcast version, since the original ran on Sony's Playstation-based arcade hardware and Capcom couldn't be bothered creating a PS1 emulator. However, most of the other games are the Sega NAOMI arcade versions, and not their superior DC ports.
Sadly, Capcom isn't going to fix up the issues with the Onimusha Warlords HD port. It's still barebones and lack the extras from Genma Onimusha on Xbox.
Not getting it unless there's a physical copy. All of the early Forza games had been pulled due to car licensing issues, with Forza Horizon 4 just late last year.
@MarcusIsCool Nintendo didn't become this big by being nice, and Shigeru Miyamoto isn't really involved in Nintendo's business decisions. Their former president Hiroshi Yamauchi was an absolutely ruthless businessman, and some of their actions during the NES days are almost unthinkable today. Nintendo actually restricted third parties on developing for rival systems, as well as how many games they could develop for the NES, to the degree that they lost a FTC lawsuit.
This generation I have cut down on physical purchases unfortunately. My biggest annoyance is major publishers cheapening out by using the lowest capacity switch cards and expecting you do download the rest. For instance, 2K/Rockstar only included limited data for their Bioshock and GTA collections, and the same deal with the Konami's MGS collection. As such when you insert your card in, you're basically getting a dataless icon. If that's the case forward, I might as well buy a digital copy of the games and save the hassle of swapping cards.
As for LRG and their ilk, they know they cornered a niche audience and are resorting to incredibly unscrupulous practices. As someone who lives in Australia I have to pay a premium to import them, and if I miss out the initial preorder window, I have to sometimes pay 10x the price in the aftermarket.
@Antraxx777 Probably the rest of Taito Arcade Archives games not already included in Taito Milestones:
Bonze Adventure Crime City Don Doko Don Fighting Hawk Final Blow Flipull Football Champ Kuri Kinton Master of Weapon Megablast Ninja Kids Raimais Volfied
@ChessboardMan The version included is the English version Growl, despite ads labelling it as Runark. You can change from 2 to 4 played in the in-game options.
Worth noting that unlike the previous two collections, the Western version defaults to the English ROMs, which is a godsend for Cadash, since the game is text heavy. And Runark is actually Growl in this collection, while Rainbow Islands Extra is missing, even though it's included in the standalone release.
However, the three new games (Dead Connection, Thunder Fox, Warrior Blade) defaults to the Japanese version for some reason.
It's a shame Fatal Fury Special isn't included since it's pretty much the Championship Edition of Fatal Fury 2, making the original pretty much redundant.
Ahh I was wondering why Arcade Archives stopped carrying Technos games. I'm glad to play the Neo Geo version of Super Dodgeball alongside Combatribes and Shadow Force. Too bad Double Dragon fighting game and Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer are not included.

So this is eshop only? I remember picking up the SW Heritage Collection but was really annoyed that KOTOR 1 and 2 require separate downloads.

So it's an Asian import? Sucks that the West is getting codes in boxes again.

Re: Turok Receives A New Update On Switch, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
I'm still waiting for Rage Wars and the Turok 3 multiplayer update. Since they were never ported to PC I'd assume a port is harder to make.
Re: Video: Nintendo Today Gives Us Another Look At SoulCalibur II For Switch 2 Online
Why can't Namco just port the HD online version, with Heihachi and Spawn, plus Link as a Nintendo exclusive.

If we're getting different versions, hopefully we'll get Children of the Atom 1.0 as well, which has significant gameplay and graphics differences.

If only Chinese Chess is included as well, so that makes 52 games, as some sort of anti-Action 52.

All three games are already available on Sega Genesis Classics. The conplilation has been delisted digitally but you can still buy physical copies.

Not buying unless Konami restores the missing content from the Sega Saturn version.
Re: Mini Review: Rendering Ranger: R2 [Rewind] (Switch) - A Novel Run 'N' Gun/Shooter Hybrid That's Finally Affordable
Good thing that this game is copublished by Ziggurat, because LRG charges more than double for other retro releases like Felix the Cat and Ninja 5-0

Re: 'Operation Night Strikers' Brings Four Action-Packed Arcade Classics To Switch This Year
It's a very strange mix of games, and I fail to see how the light gun games have anything to do with a sprite scaling shooter.
I wish Night Striker came along with Aqua Jack and the first two Chase HQ games instead.
