@rjejr why so tacky on matters of basic consumerism, they didn't force you to buy a product it was entirely of your own free will. This is years later when you should have already found enjoyment from those products... this is sour grapes from the wrong batch. It's not even conceivable to me that you should be jealous of people buying these last iterations of products during a new Nintendo console generation.

Re: Nintendo Is Already Taking The Necessary Steps To Combat Video Game Addiction

For a thing to be bad to a particular subset of the population, it's not particularly relevant to say there are other addictions. Maybe there are some important ones that aren't receiving the proper attention in proportion but I don't think dragging out a litany of "unaddressed" issues adds to the cause here. Nintendo is choosing to handle this issue which is likely prudent for them as an ethical purveyor of entertainment. And it also seems to be putting control in the hands of parents rather than infusing the games with arbitrary limits, which is a good sign.

Re: The Poké Ball Plus Has A Secret Feature That Makes Pokémon GO Easier To Play

Uhm beating every master with every Pokemon is going to be the most grind heavy thing in the world. You must be a pure masochist to believe that being able to fight one less 'mon Master some how points to Nintendo being anti-consumer and withholding content. At some point we need to take responsibility for the extent that a hobby becomes a job, as if we are entitled to control over such minutia.

Re: Video: Learn How To Play Civilization VI Ahead Of Its Release On Switch Next Month

OptometristLime

I would have liked to see this be a slightly different take on Civilization rather than a direct port of 6. My feelings are akin to several others in thinking this was a slightly un-moored version of the series.

That said for newcomers this is a really flavorful strategy game that with some prior insight, like these tutorial vids, should be able to hold your attention for many hours of gameplay.

@AlexSora89 being the last soldier alive is not an easy feat by any means and usually boils down to whether you get spotted or not while everyone around is dying.

Epic, to their credit or discredit, never really acknowledges that final stand achievement outside of the victory text. Some kind of commemoration would be nice however, since it's a rare event as you can say.

Comments section please, why even bother responding if you have a zero-sum response.

Oh I don't like this game. Eh? Don't read the article much less respond... dumb.

Some others have not experienced these issues, okay well did you read the article? We all have identical Switch consoles so there aren't winners and losers. If you are playing the game from internal storage these problems maybe are not tangible. I will say for me the problems have persisted worsening until the game is nearly unplayable.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Isn't Concerned About Competitive Aspect Of Super Smash Bros.

OptometristLime

What could possibly be "dull" about high level players going about their craft in the most skilled and technical way possible? That's like saying the Olympics are boring unless all the competitors have their shoelaces tied together, and the audience is permitted to throw out water balloons. I detect a fair amount of ignorance in some comments; that poor man's version of the game should definitely should be passed over by Sakurai in favor of a skill rewarding system.

The idea that fun is synonymous with idiocy and you need bombs and falling items to have an even playing field shows a marked lack of appreciation for the hardcore < — > beginner enjoyment gap that is being bridged. You shouldn't have to make either crowd suffer for a truly inclusive experience of all players.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Isn't Concerned About Competitive Aspect Of Super Smash Bros.

This is why nintendo is so ruddy clueless when it comes to matters outside their control, like what the actual customer does with the product.

I find it disconcerting that Sakurai chooses to scorn the most dedicated members of his audience, in a world where intentionally "silly" games like Splatoon are encouraged to be competitive. For the Melee community especially it's an absolute passion project; he's really missing out and seems not to understand the limits of his own game.

The reason a casual mode of play has appeal is that it can make the player feel like they are hardcore or on the path to becoming an elite. When you give an approachable game undefined boundaries it encourages the player to explore and push beyond what's possible in the newbie stage.

Re: Hacker Praises Nintendo's Switch Security Efforts, But Says Console Is "Completely Compromised"

Hacking is hacking, enough with the robin hood [removed].

This is where a lot of people lose their bearings by claiming a moral high ground all the while doing an act which undermines the ability of Nintendo to support its customer base. These aren't fans, or Nintendo gamers, because there are plenty of outlets for those people to do their emulation on PC. We don't need every hardware platform to be an enthusiast playground, not the way I see it anyway.

@Sakura7 have to agree with you there man.

I think we also revealed the kind of hive mind that associates even the appearance of a "bad thing" with the actual evil. Evidence of mocking a German political party becomes the real thing. And indeed, true manifestations of the dark side of humanity are growing in dark corners while people are distracted with bickering and in-fighting.
