In preparation for the launch of Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! this November, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have been releasing new trailers on a regular basis highlighting different aspects of the game.
With Mega Evolutions confirmed earlier this month in a video featuring Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, a new trailer has now been released showing the powerful mega versions of Kangaskhan and Gyarados.
Take a look at the brief clip above and let us know in the comments if you're excited about returning to the Kanto region.

Super excited! I didn’t even know gyarados had one
The 2019 pokemon couldn't come any sooner..
Look guys, I know most of ya'll probably don't care about this game, but some of ya'll have be really crazy if you think this game ain't going to sell consales. Like seriously, don't be shocked if that's the outcome.
Couple things I'd like the "real" Switch Pokémon game to have:
1. Significantly better graphics. The graphics in Let's Go is by no means terrible, but I can't call em good either. "Looks like a Cell Phone game," has been tossed around and I think that's fair. There's a lack of detail in models, textures, etc, that makes the game look like it was going to come out for gamecube or something.
2. Pokémon NEED voices, these "cries," are basically the same since the old days and good god is it jarring the longer it goes on. They don't need to have the voices from the anime or whatever but some legitimate roars and growls will go a long way.
3. Regular wild encounters.
4. Better battle animations. I don't see why we can't have the pokemon physically attacking one another and the effects for some of the moves seems cheesy.
Mega Evolutions? That's so gen 6.
Seriously though, the target audience for this game is not likely to care about Megas. Show us more of the co-op. Is it just all double battles all the time or is it tag team style?
I doubt there will be much post game competitive battling with this game, and if there is, I hope they drop the ban hammer hard on Mega Kanga. Even post nerf it's still outrageously powerful.
I know a lot of people aren't happy with this game. Be it the gimmicks, the graphics, or whatever. But I am glad that Game Freak is using this game to learn Switch development, instead of just leaving us hanging until next year, and instead of risking using the "mainline" game as their Switch "guinea pig" game.
This game is gonna be perfect for kids and casual gamers, and I know a lot of you hate that, and fine, to each their own, but these games do sell. The mobile game market proves that, and trust me, I HATE mobile games 98.5% of the time too. But they do sell, and this game will hopefully attract some of those players. Especially with it's Pokemon Go connectivity. A feature I honestly do hope is retained in the 2019 game. Which I think is gonna be a great feature. Connectivity between the games has always been a selling point of Pokemon and Go having lacked that was always a negative.
The mega-evolved Pokemon go mega-well with lemon, cilantro and white wine.
... they do eat Pokemon, right?
Looks like another great Pokémon game. I’m genuinely excited for it.
I very much need the Eevee version, and that sweet, sweet Poké Ball controller.
For a moment I thought the title said there were new mega evolutions and got excited. Well, nice to see more returning ones.
Mega Evolution of Gyarados = Leviathan !!
@Anti-Matter I always thought "big shrimp" but that's cool too.
I still think they will reveal brand new Megas.
@JpGamerGuy90 : They look like the Gen VI games being rendered at a higher resolution (with better quality textures, lighting effects etc.), and the battles look virtually indistinguishable to the 3DS games, especially if you view them from a smaller display. The worst part is that the Let's Go games appear to be borrowing assets from Gen VI as opposed to VII, which did away with the grid-based map and chibi-looking character models.
The cries were updated for the current games (there are videos on YouTube that compare the current ones to the originals), however, it seems that the developers didn't want to displease the Gen 1 imperialists by rendering them completely unrecognisable when compared to their original cries. More recent Pokémon (especially from Gen IV onwards) have more realistic animal-like cries and sound pretty great.
And I think the battle animations come down to logistics. There are now over 800 Pokémon (many with different forms and/or sex differences), and to animate each and every Pokémon and attack to have variances in battle animations to factor in all of the different Pokémon body shapes would be a tremendous (and unnecessary) feat. It would be nice to have and all, but then we would probably only get a new Pokémon game once every console generation, and God knows that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company would want to milk the franchise as much as possible (hence the Let's Go games, rather than dedicating all of their resources to Gen VIII).
Really wishing they'd show some post-game or extra content that would make this worthwhile for me.
Oh my gosh "im so angry about the graphics because blah blah blat blat" ... with each generation entitlement grows, as does apathy in the gaming population.
Why can we not just enjoy what the devs are creating and pass judgement on an actual product (battle system, story line, et al) ??
@JpGamerGuy90 unlikely that they’ll ever completely abandon the original sounds other than increase the quality a bit, many fans actually like that the cries have stayed the same and can identify them by sound alone, and making them more organic likely won’t make many new people buy the game. It would just create unnecessary waves and there’s a reason they haven’t changed them heavily when they’ve long since had the ability to (especially on 3DS).
@Silly_G I fail to buy that excuse for battle animations. While it would be insane to have a custom animation for every move on every combination of Pokémon, the receiving end of the attack can be fairly irrelevant (players wouldn’t care too much if the bite attack makes sense on where it’s biting the opponent) and the user’s moves honestly don’t require every possible animation - only moves that Pokémon can learn matter and the animations could be recycled (it doesn’t have to look different when a houndour is using bite or fire fang, it doesn’t have to look different when a rhyhorn is using tackle or takedown). What they currently do for the games is more than halfway to what they’d have to do, making the models actually collide wouldnt be hard and Pokémon already do a lot of the movement.
I mean yes, it would be ridiculous to animate every interaction but they can cut a lot of corners and few people will care (and only a few would truly nitpick). Especially if they don’t up the graphics much more than what we’ve seen so far. Now if it was cutting edge realistic HD, it could be jarring if raticate’s bite is clipping the enemy... but as is, it already looks goofy how the moves are animated, it can’t be much worse. There’s no reason why we can’t we squirtle and it’s opponent at the same time when it uses water gun, we’re not expecting to see the physical damage from the attacks or anything.
I wish they would retcon Kangaskhan so that it has a natural pre-evolution. I think it's completely ridiculous that the Pokémon is born with a baby in its pouch.
Another solution is to give it an infant form that it will maintain until it reaches a certain level (which would be a more practical alternative to creating a whole new Pokémon).
I hope that we can access post-Gen I pre and post-evolutions as well, if nothing else.
@JpGamerGuy90
I heard on a youtube video that Game Freak has said that the graphics of the real RPG from 2019 will have better graphics. Besides that, I am allready happy with these and I have only seen it on youtube which is compressed.
Most important for me is finally be able to play Pokémon on a 65" screen!
@iLikeUrAttitude
Lol truth
First time Pokemon on tv! I too am not happy with the go features, but the hate is overrated in my opinion.
@Heavyarms55 As far we know there's no matchmaking, only trading and battling with friends.
@Silly_G Different animations are only needed for the physical attacks, and having 3 or 4 different options to distinguish from the punches, kicks and tackles wouldn't be too much to ask I think. I'm certain it's possible by having each wireframe model move in a similar fashion, and have a team of people clean those up instead of animating it all by hand. I'm certain the tech is there, I'm just not sure if GameFreak is capable of doing it.
@ZeldaNX Colosseum and XD say hi.
@Grumblevolcano Well there has never been match making in Pokemon games, sadly...
@Heavyarms55 You've been able to play against random people in every mainline game since Diamond/Pearl as well as Battle Revolution. This friends only system is a downgrade (even more so given the friend code nature of Switch).
@Grumblevolcano Oh you mean that limited 3v3 4v4 special rule stuff? Meh, I guess that counts... vaguely.
Is it just me that doesn't like megas? They were cool at the time but they're just a gimmick now. They weren't as bad as Z moves though. I hope they're gone
@Octane
Which I enjoyed but you know what I mean.
First time that the handheld games can be played on tv (although with some of the go mechanics)
@ZeldaNX
@hatch idk, the Smash crowd is arguably louder.
@Octane
That’s a good one. Still not the same!
@Heavyarms55 ? No, You were able to fight random people with different rules.
I have to clarify, personally I'm fine with this game and don't get the hate, although not being able to fight random people and be limited to those on your "friend list" woud be definitely a step back.
EDIT: Ok I just saw this will be the case. To be sincere that's the only bad decision I have seen with this game... but it's a huge one.
@roy130390 In some games you could challenge random people manually to whatever rule set you wanted but spending hours to find someone who actually wants to play (something like 6v6 singles) isn't what I'd call match making.
Though I do agree that having nothing is a step backward, I don't consider it that much of a loss since previous systems were so bad. I'd not expected much multiplayer in this title anyway. I'll be more interested in how they handle that in the 2019 title.
Is it true they are going to have brand new mega evolve Pokémon in this game? if so,I sure hope they don't come up with Mega Flareon,Jolteon and Vaporeon because that would be unfair.And plus Alolan Raichu,Persian and Golem is already enough.
@Heavyarms55 Back in Gen 6 I mostly played the standard 3v3 single battle and 4v4 double battle types. While I agree there's room for improvement, nothing is still a significant downgrade.
First thing I have seen in this game I'm not a fan of. I was hoping they would keep it locked to the original 151. I'm not a big fan of all the extra mechanics like breeding, happiness and mega evolutions they brought in that needlessly complicate the collecting and evolving of Pokémon. Adding these extra evolutions may be only a small addition but it goes against the back to basics vibe the game had.
@JpGamerGuy90 and yet looks 100 times better than ultra sun/moon. Look, I am more excited by the possibilities of next year's game too but this is the best looking Pokemon I have seen yet.
They should probably have Pokemon Z Version on Nintendo 3Ds.And have brand new Mega Evovled Pokemon.
