It’s already been confirmed by Nintendo and Illumination that Mario will be making his grand return to the silver screen in his own outing at some point in the near future and now according to a listing on IMDB, the voice behind Nintendo’s well-known mascot – Charles Martinet – will voice the iconic character in Disney's upcoming 3D animation, Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2.
Martinet has been voicing Nintendo’s mascot since 1990, so if this listing is accurate, it’s fantastic to see his involvement in Wreck-It Ralph 2. With Bowser flying the flag for Nintendo in the original movie, Nintendo’s cast would be represented once again in the second entry. For now though, we'll just have to wait for any other information about the sequel that surfaces.
The sequel itself takes place six years after the events of the first, with the story focused on Ralph’s adventures within the internet when a wireless router gets plugged into the arcade. It’s due out this year in the US on 21st November. Take a look at the official trailer below and let us know if you're excited about this release.

Good marketing strategy on Nintendo's part. The movie will no doubt be a smash hit.
Yeah because IMDB is always so reliable...
"Must be Mario. Fashionably late!"
Charlie seems like a nice fella and he of course is iconic as Mario, but something is a little bit off with that guy, right?
@JHDK He's just socially awkward. Outside interviews, there isn't much info on him holding conversations.
There are videos of him as a guest in Mario Odyssey Let's Plays, in those he normally spends the time commentating as Mario only answering questions when asked.
Ralph wrecks the internet huh? Dunno how I feel about that idea.
Astonishing !! He's doing HIS WORK.
As much as I like this style of CG animation and the fact that basically EVERY animated movie in the west looks the same now...
I did like Wreck it Ralph, so I will totally watch the sequel.
@whiffy5 "As usual."
Loved the first film, so I'm absolutely seeing this one.
Hey, since they go to the internet, can Ralph and Vanelope make a cameo in @AlexOlney 's next video?
Stoked for this. I love the first one, John c Reilly is a good fit. Ya dingus!
I liked the first, and I'm excited for the second, mostly because it's a really good Pixar movie about video games. Edit: Also, the Incredibles 2 later this summer.
I don't think Charles is even awkward, what defines how a voice actor should relate to his public? He seems to have a genuinely fun personality and makes a lot of time for fans from what I can tell.
@Anti-Matter
What’s so bad about him? I saw an interview of him on Great Big Story and he seems like a nice guy. A bit like a kid stuck in a man’s body, which I feel fit Mario.
@NintendoFanWT
I'm Okay with Charles Martinet, but not a fan of Wreck it Ralph movie.
Makes sense. Really excited for the movie. First one has quickly become one of my favorite Disney Animation Studio movies
@Anti-Matter
Really? What did you not like about the original?
I have very low expectations for this sequel. Feels a bit like Disney’s version of the Emoji Movie.
How this film wasn't titled Ralph Wrecks the Internet is beyond me. But sure, Wreck it Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet just rolls off the tongue.
@Anti-Matter There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot that you like
@NintendoFanWT
I like Disney movies, but Wreck it Ralph was exceptional for me.
Not a fan of weird looking prehistoric characters and mixed-it-up storyline, even though there was a Nintendo mascot there.
Sorry, no offence. Just matter of taste.
Can’t wait. Me and the kids loved the first.
@Anti-Matter
Alright. After all, it’s your opinion.
they got the guy from Runner3??
I'm just happy Mario is in there. Good win for Nintendo.
Charles MartiYAY!
Even to this day, even that this film has the EXACT SAME creative team as the original Wreck It Ralph, people are still doubting Ralph Breaks the Internet. It's super baffling to me.
Anyway, looks like Mario coming in for the sequel is ringing true and hoping Disney does him justice despite a small role I presume
An IMDB listing huh? That's like using a Wikipedia article as a source.
I do think Mario will probably be in the movie since the director stated that he wanted to do it ever since the first one released, and in that case he'll probably be voiced by Charles - much like how Sonic was voiced by Roger Craig Smith in WIR1. Still though, an IMDB listing isn't the best proof.
Oh really? I was sure Mario would be played by Christopher Walken, not Mario’s voice actor. (sarcasm) but seriously, I mean I guess this wasn’t necessarily a given but it doesn’t surprise me... and I guess I would understand if this was reporting on an official announcement but it seems silly to post a “rumor” article that’s essentially, “The most likely scenario may end up happening!”
That would be cool. I am glad Nintendo was open to this idea. Mario was supposed to be in the first movie but they did not have a good way of adding him to the storyline.
Seriously though, I hope they only bring Mario in for a post-credits sequence where Nick Fury meets him in a diner and tells him he's putting together a team of gaming's mightiest heroes....
Would be nice to see videogame characters as the trailers so far have been more Internet Culture cameos/jokes than its original videogame theme......oh and every Disney Princess under the sun just about.
@Anti-Matter "I'm Okay with Charles Martinet, but not a fan of Wreck it Ralph movie."
Then why comment?
@Matthew010
Because there will be a sequel of Wreck it Ralph.
My first thought was "Uggh.... that movie again ?"
@JHDK Wrong. Nothing looks off with Martinet.
Gonna have to doubt this as the only source for this is IMDB, seeing as how there are definitely some fake credits I added as a teen still on the site.
That movie name gives me horrible flashbacks to a time when Kim Kardashian's butt apparently "broke the internet". The fact that such a thing can "break the internet" makes me cringe so hard.
Let it please inspire nintendo to bring new mario movies like this or other Nintendo themed movies.
when looking back, the mario cartoon series where awesome. Or something like Captain N the game master (lol)
Nice, I wonder if Mario will talk more in the movie than he does in the games (that said, if this isn't just a rumour).
"I have very low expectations for this sequel. Feels a bit like Disney’s version of the Emoji Movie"
Yeah, I was thinking the same. Please no!!
Also: Product placement, product placement!
I just hope Martinet will voice Mario in Universal's Mario movie...
@KevTastic84 I'm STUNNED Disney is doing this. Placing Mario in a huge hit markets the SMB movie and Super Nintendo Land at Universal. Disney... tends to not tolerate anything that might reduce profit by even a cent.
@KirbyTheVampire Her butt is so big it could break quite a lot of things.
@The-Chosen-one In case you don't know they've already started work on a movie.

@Seacliff Charles isn't socially akward at all! I've had the pleasure of actually meeting him and he was very chill in public and GREAT with his fans (especially younger ones, he is great with kids).
And for you "PICS OR IT DIDNT HAPPEN" folks: https://imgur.com/a/153bE7n
From video game legend to Pixar movie star.
Hears another cool idea for Wreck-it-Ralph 2 have character Sora, Goofy, and Donald Duck from the Kingdom Hearts series be in the film.
Not a surprise, it's not like anyone else out there can do it better than the man behind the voice of Mario himself. He is the only one I would want to do it.
@KevTastic84 There will always be doubt. Mario Brothers feature film tanked. And video games to movies are more miss than hit, box-office wise.
So is this how Ralph ends up in "Sega All-Star Racing Transformed"?
Also, how is it that Ralph and Vanellope never run into any porn? I mean, it's Disney, so they're obviously not going to include even a mention of it, but it's still wildly unrealistic.
@solcross You monster!
But seriously, you really should go delete those fake entries sometime.
Something was missing with the first Wreck-It Ralph movie. For its premise, it should've been a lot funnier and more clever than it was. But it quickly devolved into predictable Disney formula. The Call of Duty parody sequence alone could've contained so many jokes, but instead it was just boring.
It was also embarrassing that they kept using these has-been video game characters that no one cares about any more, like Q-Bert and PacMan. "Hey, we got these characters for a bargain bin price, so let's dedicate more screen time to them!". It's a shame. I hope the sequel is more amusing, but the trailer doesn't give me much hope.
@CorvoRevo But in an unexpected place. There was no confirmation if any Nintendo characters would appear in Wreck-It Ralph 2, let alone Mario himself.
@Prizm The whole point of Q-Bert in the movie was that no one cared about him anymore. As for Pac Man, he's kind of an icon of arcade gaming, a well recognized symbol of a bygone era.
I didn't like the villain, or more accurately, that there was a villain. I thought the main character messing things up by himself would be good enough, especially as the point is that he's a villain. Thankfully Inside-Out delivered this and it's my favourite Disney/Pixar movie to date. That said I really enjoyed WRR.
@Savino
That trailer made my day. The little girl's face is priceless.
I loved the first movie so I hope this one delivers too.
Sure to be the best internet based animated film since The Emoji Movie!
@OorWullie
I totally forgot about that, tnx!
@JHDK I got to see him in person and talk to him and he seemed really nice and he wrote a lot of stuff on the picture I got signed. I would say he seemed pretty genuine.
Mario's a mob boss or we riot.
