Re: Renegade Kid Releases Début Moon Chronicles Trailer

@unrandomsam that's fine, don't buy the game if it doesn't interest you.
But I don't see why you have to be such a jerk to the developer, and claim to know the fate of efforts past and future. All it takes is a small vocal group of fans to support such a modest venture, and I think it's clever to appease them with a broad range of offerings. With the price being acceptable, I'm bound to try a couple of them (Moon and Treasurenauts) and then offer an informed opinion.
Watch the profanity please — TBD

I'm going to be that guy and say... well a seven isn't a bad score.
Maybe it's Morgan's thoroughness that highlights the more praiseworthy sections, but a lot of people will overlook the details in lieu of the number at the end. In a crowd of standout games, a 7 may not lure in the audience this title (perhaps) deserves.

Re: Two Tribes Confirms Toki Tori 2+ Level Editor Will Not Hatch On Wii U

Nobody in their right mind would bat an eye at this news.
-They even apologized for not keeping their "promise" to consumers. Well they don't owe nothin' to nobody!

To those who "won't buy" now owing supposedly to this bad news: tell me what you hoped to achieve by not supporting this product initially? Maybe if they had your money this editor would have been a foregone conclusion!

Sorry if that's out of line, I just find the persistent hate... frustrating.

Re: Review: Pokémon X & Y (3DS)

Can't you people read; the substance of a review is in the words not the silly score at the bottom?

Better to cry about the lack of a perfect score, than bemoan reviewer bias when such scores do appear. That would really make us barbarians!

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo 2DS

@Ron_DelVillano thanks for responding, it does make a different to me knowing that we both enjoy the added dimension.

I do think the impact of 3D on actual sales is difficult to quantify without numbers (maybe a survey or something).

There is evidently a market for this device as-is, shorn of its initial as advertised hook. I just think the real gimmick here is offering less for... some what less. And of course introducing a newly renovated design to stand out this fall. The lack of new features makes this a potential cast-off from the DS stable.

At the end of the day, the 2DS exists solely as a response to fretting parents; no conclusive evidence has come forward to condemn 3D, and there is already a slider (and apparently parental locks) on this feature.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo 2DS

OptometristLime

It's one thing to say that the 3D has no impact on the game experience.
(the author's intimation)

Another thing to say that the 3DS moved units only because 3D was present.
My position was misconstrued; really you have to invent a strawman to make a point about 3D? Whether you personally approve of the 3D or not, twisting it into a disadvantage for the 3DS is ridiculous.

"The lack of 3D display is slightly detrimental to certain games, such as Super Mario 3D Land, that actually utilize the effect to enhance level and puzzle design, but it really won’t be missed in most titles or by most gamers."

Were this actually the case, the 3DS would not have moved all those units you enthuse about in your introductory comments.

@ScroogeMcLz

Hmm. Just by reading Kotaku while keeping your words in mind, it's clear that the title of the article was... lacking. Misleading to be sure. And it's hard to arrive at the appropriate conclusion without first dismissing the headline, entirely.

Phew Miyamoto is absolved and I hope to pick this game up. xD

Re: EA Executive: Shigeru Miyamoto is 'Falling Down on the Job'

OptometristLime

@Kyloctopus what KKslider is saying though, is that you have unsuccessfully attacked some of Miyamoto's recent efforts. Disliking the games is one thing, but if all you're saying is your interest in his games has lessened... well frankly who cares. This article is about discrediting a great man for being creative and independent, he has been uncompromising in those respects which is the exact reason for the existence of games like Nintendogs and Wii Music.

@russellohh
That was the exact scene that put me off Monster Hunter's gameplay. It's not a common hindrance perhaps, but we do share that perspective.

But then I'm a Pokemon Mastah so the creatures I fight end up in Poke balls, or maimed to the point of fainting I guess...? Yey Pokemon!

Re: Junichi Masuda Confirms That the Pokémon X & Y Overworld is 2D Only

OptometristLime

I'm not sure why I feel this way, but, I would almost rather the battles were rendered flat if t meant having a 3D overworld. Of course that's just me, and the kiddies will be expecting the zip and flash of the extra dimension understandably.

Still as an experienced trainer I happen to know that the battles can get 'dry as a bone' after the umpteenth encounter. In fact many trainers choose to disable the battle scenes, making this use of 3D an embarrassing oversight, from one perspective.
