Switch 2 is an incredible gaming hardware, it deserves to win. Bananza is my personal GOTY but I doubt it will win, some game gathered up way more hype.
Silksong : breath Everyone : OH MY GOD BEST GAME EVER
A lot of people are reacting to this game like it's their first videogame ever. Oh my god, Hornet makes sounds when she moves ? There is HD rumbles ? Has anyone ever heard of such a thing ? You can JUMP ? Woaaaaaaaah.
I have no idea what sets apart Silksong's sound design from other games. I'm pretty sure no one knows either, but the hype is just really strong with this one uh.
Unfortunately, I wont get it, as I'm too scared to play this type of game. Heck, I was too scared to play Metroid Dread (played 20 minutes of it, was too scared, gave up). But I applaud Capcom for porting 2 recent Resident evil games, and release this new entry day one on Switch 2 ! I hope every major publisher does this in the future.
@Glitchling78 You are no true soul. Go back crawling in Gross Moto with the likes of you, pilgrim, you are not worthy of the citadel... !
Just kidding, but the Hollow Knight's community almost speak like the pilgrims in this game when you criticize the difficulty. Good for you you can ease up the pain and have fun !
I'm getting incredibly tired with this game and the whole discussion around it.
It's a good game. It's a great product. That's it. Not gonna change the industry.
Truth is, people praise this game because of its content-price ratio, and that alone. Not because it presents interesting game design elements. And it does not. It's a classic metroidvania, with ton of contents. Most of its boss are just huge HP tanks, or swarm of enemies, or both at the same time. Most of the areas present a simple gimmick, quite often "how to make our player annoyed". Three consecutive poison swamps areas. Really... original. Most of the quests are MMORPG inspired, like "ohhhhhh, how about you give this to Bernie, at the other side of the map, uh ?", or "collect 15 burnt flesh, ohhhh, exciting, what a fresh idea !".
Buuuuut it's 20 bucks so people feel good about their purchase, and feel like their money was well spent, and that somehow they are fighting "greedy corporations", as if none of us had already a massive backlog of games to play, more than enough until the end of times. Quantity really is the most important thing in this industry uh...
Sugimori has a point though. Physical carts wont hold forever either. We already see NES and N64 cartridges not function anymore, because the components inside are starting to deteriorate
@The_Nintendo_Pedant It's not costing them that much money to do them. It's a marketing strategy that has massive benefits, and it gets fans excited before release.
Silksong. I still have to 100% it. It's a great game, but some aspects (how much HPs boss generally have, which make their fights long and tedious) are definitely making the experience worse, for no other reason than, in my humble opinion, artificially increase the game length. But that's only my 2 cents.
Donkey Kong Bananza for the new DLC announced ! I'm not sure it's worth the price tbh, but it's a great nostalgia trip, and it's always fun to smash stuff
The anti Team Cherry lmao. Sakurai really is the man. Frequent little updates on Nintendo Today. Two freaking Nintendo Direct, in the span of a few months
I found it excellent, but I'm extremely biased, as I really wanted a new Fire Emblem game, and guess what hehehe
Plus, a DLC for DK, which makes me really happy, I wanted more and more for this game, and it's really fun this far ! DK's island is such a nostalgia trip !
Metroid Prime 4 finally got a release date, we can finally countdown the days !
And Kirby Air Riders is gonna have a new direct lmao, I laughed a little bit when I heard it, oh Sakurai never change
It's such a minor thing in the midst of all the BS this game throws at you. I almost forgot this one bench.
Wait until they reach this one boss at the end of act 2. But of course, I'm sure the people that yell "git gud" everytime someone criticizes this game's difficulty enjoyed every minute of it. What's not to love ? Such a well designed boss with clever mechanics, am I right ?
I wish the devs would add an even harder difficulty with only one hit point and no bench. For the TRUE Hollow Knight players. Fun ! So each time they fight a boss and die, they can climb their way through the entire map, because if we learned anything with Silksong, it's that apparently, long runbacks are peak videogame design 😉
@Azileron I wonder what's the artistic vision behind Bilewater, give everyone a preview of the life of a damned in hell, condamned to eternal suffering 🤣 ?
Honestly, this game's difficulty is comparable to Dark Souls 2 : devs of this game did not understand what made the first game great, and they just went "ohhhhhh you like difficult games uh, what about 50 enemies at the same time without adequate moveset to deal with them, 5 minutes runbacks and random Kaizo Mario stuff ?". Sure, you can make a game as difficult as you want, but at some point, it just turns out into a joke game like Kaizo Mario. What's the frontier between a troll game and a real game ? Isn't it the fact that it's accessible to a good fraction of players ?
I mean, is the hardest metroidvania ever made, difficult 🤣 ? The stuff this game throws at you in the end game is absolute insanity.
Too difficult though ? For most people indeed it is. It's definitely not possible for some people to 100% it.
Is it a problem ? I mean, nothing really is a problem when it comes to video games, it's just some side activity we do for fun. But it would be nice if more people had access to the game, through an easy mode for example. More health, less damage taken, that sort of stuff...
@Max_the_German Well I wish I could have preordered it, like said in my previous comment.
And yes, a lot of people bought the game without playing the first one, out of general hype, but since no reviews were released at the time, they could not be completely informed in their purchase.
It is completely on Team Cherry because they had the option to give the game early to reviewers.
@Max_the_German It would have been nice then to provide early copies to game journalists, so they can inform people on the difficulty, and they can choose to NOT buy the game thanks to those reviews.
Team Cherry no preorders + no early copies to journalists was BS as its finest.
It would be very much appreciated if everything in this game did not do 2 damages. It's crazy how when certain boss finally do 1 damage on most of their attacks (Widow and Phantom), their fight becomes, much, much, MUCH, funnier and exciting. Also, they do not summon random enemies.
Could they also add a feature allowing you to just respawn in front of every boss (Elden Ring did it) ? Doing 30s to 1m runbacks is not fun. It never has. It never will. It's just a waste of time, and it diminishes the enjoyment out of certain bosses (last judge cough cough, and yes I timed it, it takes 1 minute between the bench and the boss arena, so if you die 20 or 30 times, it's 30 minutes of your life wasted on meaningless content... and it's not even the worst runback in the game !)
@cedarhyped I highly doubt it, I think it just comes down to the nature of the map itself. There is a clear direction you are supposed to go, whereas the first Hollow Knight just let you meander in its world
Silksong. I have nearly 10 hours on the game now. I really like it so far, but it feels weirdly linear ? I don't know why, never got this feeling with the first one.
Overall though, this is more Hollow Knight, which is great !
Good lord. Reading this comment section makes me realize Miyamoto was 100% right. Video games are not art. They are products, and should be only viewed as such, because people will only look at this weird "game length-price" ratio, or will do youtube videos where they shoot in the water, marvel at the physic, and compare it to some random games that does it better and say "see, this game has better physic, greedy devs, how could they not give their game for free !"
It's a great start. I don't have time to play everything I have, and there's even more to come. I still have to finish Cyberpunk, Kirby, now Silksong, I might buy Star Wars Outlaws, Persona 3 Reload comes out next month, Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4 after that...
I greatly enjoyed MK World, and still play it with my family. Bananza was an incredible experience, and so was discovering Splatoon 3, and rediscovering Zelda TOTK in 60fps.
There is no shortage of great games on this console, and it's only gonna speed up, so everyone has something to play at all time.
Team Cherry could charge their game for 10 cents, they would still make a profit.
They are a team of 3 people, selling millions and millions of copies.
That's a thing people seem to not understand. No, AAA devs are "not gonna take notice", nor most developers, because their expanses are hundred of time higher than those of Team Cherry.
@jojobar It... is ? Is has been tested again and again. Just search "switch 2 cartridge loading speed" and you will see some comparison with games installed on system memory and games on cartridge. It's way faster on system memory or microsd express.
And that's not an official press release from Ubisoft. It's just someone who worked on the port. What's the point for him to lie about it ? Makes no sense.
@Sebos But in what way are they pushing the cost on customers ? Game key cards and digital downloads are not more expansive, it's quite the opposite in fact

Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct #2: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate it?
Outstanding. I trust Sakurai when he says he, and his team, put everything they had in this game. It shows.
Love the small jab at 90% of the gaming industry : "I put everything I wanted from the start. The game is complete."
Re: Nintendo Direct For Kirby Air Riders Announced For Thursday, 23rd October
Sakurai is really the man. Can't wait for more infos !

I can't wait to not play it !

Re: Atlus Rules Out Persona 3 Reload Switch Port
No idea why this game could not run on Switch 1. It honestly looks barely better than P5.
Atlus is not the best when it comes to optimization
Re: Opinion: Silksong Might Just Be The Funniest Game Of The Year
The funniest thing I've seen about Silksong is the Joseph Anderson stream's compilation about it.
"ARI, WAKE UP, I HAVE A NEW TRAP IDEA"
"Oh my god, we really hate our player, 3 more years of development !"

My newly most anticipated game for Switch 2 (sorry Metroid Prime 4 !).

I can't wait !!

Re: The Switch eShop And Steam Are Buckling Under The Weight Of Silksong
@Dhaladog Welp if they don't do preorders like Team Cherry, the next time they release a game like a 3D Mario.
If they do preorders, never, because there is no reason for the store to crash.
Re: The Switch eShop Is Buckling Under The Weight Of Silksong
@Athropos No idea why they are against preorders when they litteraly did not give any press website a code before release.
That's the whole point of not preordering : to know if the game is actually good or not thanks to other people 🤣
Re: The Switch eShop Is Buckling Under The Weight Of Silksong
@Powerballad Same here, it's gonna take quite some time, even more than usual because of the massive number of people downloading it at the same time

@Powerballad Less impressive when you consider every other game on the market can actually be preordered, to prevent stuff like this
