Re: Eiji Aonuma Rules Out The Option to Play as a Female Link in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Noelemahc

Well, there was a Princess Peach game, and it was better than its contemporary Super Mario game. Why not a Princess Zelda game... That doesn't have to have Link in it at all, maybe?

(That said, his reaction is kinda stupid - nothing except Japan's bizarre we-all-love-it-but-it's-pervy attitude towards lesbians in media prevents a female Link as it changes nothing in gameplay or story of any game in the franchise — and even so, Girlink saving Zelda does not have to have a romantic angle, it's community service, saving the princess of your kingdom!)

Re: Guide: Which Version Of Fire Emblem Fates Should You Buy?

Noelemahc

@Tsurii I know THAT. The thing is, if you buy all-eShop, you're paying 5 pounds more, which is not an insignificant sum of money. Unless there's an eShop-specific discount or promotion other than the free theme, this MSRP is rather stewpid.

The whole "but you get to choose!" angle won't work here as all this approach does is skew sales towards physical releases, destimulating Ninty from sorting their online services out.

Re: Western Localisation Of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Features Costume And Age Changes

Oy vey. Fire Emblem Awakening got its own hot springs DLC no problem. This is why we can't have nice things.

I agree with one of the above posters, it's curious that all this crap started when Iwata passed away. Atlus has never self-censored previously (aside from the whole Hitler thing in Persona 2, and that was way more justifiable), so it would not seem to be their idea. Persona Q reworked but retained all of its innuendo, after all.

What's next? Renaming swords to 'poking sticks'? Guns to 'happiness sappers'? No kissing on-screen?

I hope this doesn't mean SMTIVF's English version will get censored.

Re: Video: Check Out the Launch Trailer for Slain!

Noelemahc

@Tsurii Yes, but unfortunately most games marketing themselves on being hard do exactly that. It's, well, hard to make a game that's fairly hard (i.e. one you can "git gud" at without involving cheating). Many "Nintendo Hard" games of old were hard because you had to have had suprahuman reflexes to get good beyond a certain point, and many modern retraux games often fail to grasp where the line between "engineered to be hard but beatable" and "engineered to be brutally hard" lies.

Re: Here's Why SNES VC Games Can Only be Played on a New 3DS

Noelemahc

If the recent pixel-perfect rebuild of BlargSNES (the VeryHard branch with 3D mode used for resolution doubling) can run SNES games at full speed with crisp quality on O3DS AND then exit to the HOME menu (expectably if you're on CFW so you could install it as a CIA), this means someone is lying.

Re: Hands On: Crossing Over With Project X Zone 2

Noelemahc

I'm slightly confused but elated at the addition of SRW-style unit upgrades between levels, as well as the item shop — two things that turn it from a widget game into a legitimate strategy. Well, more legitimate, alright.

Still bummed about no SRW characters appearing this time, though.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Removes 'Petting' Feature in Western Localisation

Noelemahc

@Shirma_Akayaku Awakening was censored in Europe ON TOP of the censorship the Japanese version got in the transition to US (to be specific, several instances of queerbaiting were toned down and the bikini DLC pictures were censored with steam, making an unfortunate side-effect of implying they weren't bikini pictures at all).

So, no, your best bet for anti-censorship is importing the Complete version from Japan, or buying a Japanese 3DS or messing with emuNAND to access the Japanese eShop on an out of region 3DS (as otherwise you will only be able to play one campaign).

TLDR, live with it.

@sillygostly you, sir, win all the Internets for your posts.

I don't think cutting this "it only gets sexual with your spouse" feature from a T-rated game is justifiable in any way in a world where PKMN games featuring the same function - but not limiting the touching to the face - are E-rated.

N.B. When the fudge are we getting a release date for Yurop?

Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Metroid Fusion

Noelemahc

The saddest bit is that a post-Fusion Metroid would be character development gold.
Samus is now the last Metroid. We'd have bounty hunters ganing up on her, Riddick-style, while she's exercise some of those new mutant powers to become more perfectly human or more monstrous, changing the gameplay and plot and why isn't this game made yet?!

Re: Interview: Image & Form CEO Talks Steamworld Heist amiibo, Multiplayer And The Kindness Of Nintendo Fans

Noelemahc

A masterpiece of a game, and I'm glad the songs are there. They provide a lot of fun for the bars (and closure after the boss fights because oy vey, the Queen is a nightmare).

Also, would gladly pay for multiplayer, triply so if the levels would be randomly generated, the core weakness of multiplayer in X-COM-likes, which this game channels in many respects.
