Re: Talking Point: How Many Hours Is A 'Short' Game For You?

Neoguardian86

6 hrs and under becomes a pretty short game, and I will not get a $60 or higher price game under that game length time.

$40 or less is fine. Ofcourse depending on the quality of the game.

I don’t expect/desire every game to be some +30 hr epic for $60 or more.

It does NOT mean that the <6 hr game is trash, not at all. Just a value proposition, it’s not worth $60

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 19th)

I managed to platinum Mass Effect 3 Legendary Edition and i just now wrapped up and platinum’d Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart.
Both fantastic games.

Next up I’m going retro playing Metroid : Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion on the WiiU - never played those in the 2D series, in anticipation for Metroid Dread.

Re: Soapbox: There's No Shame In Playing On Easy, Even If You're A Pro

Yeah I’m much in the same camp. I’m 32, married, no kids yet. Can be a busy life at times, but free time ever increasingly shrinks as life goes on.

I would say it depends on why I’m playing a game. Most Normal Modes I’m fine with, for instance I played Ghost of Tsushima on normal.

On longer campaigns, When given an option, whether that’s a JRPG or I wanna marathon through a series, I’ll put it on easy. Like right I’m playing through the Halo series,
Last year I played through the Gears of war series on easy until I got to Gears 5 then I reverted to normal,
I had already played through the previous games, I just wanted to replay the stories.

I enjoy the stories in games, and it does provide a sense of progression.

I very much relate to the bit in the article ‘if I’m still at the same point in the game the next night then that was a wasted night’ I feel the same way.

I very nearly stopped trophy hunting, I platinum’d Ghost of Tsushima because it was easy, but if it required me to play on hard, then play it again on ultra hard. I wouldn’t even bother. Still love the game, but it’s to the point that I disable trophy/achievements notifications.
I stopped play multiplayer games, I just don’t get the sense of progression like I do with a campaign, I don’t play fighters, requires too much time to master 1 character.

I’m not saying these games should not exist, nor am I saying that they’re bad.

I just don’t have time like I used to.

Typically on an RPG I’ll do as much as I can as I want, but once those credits roll, I’m likely done for good. Very very rarely will - after a couple of years- will I replay it.

Re: Feature: Upcoming Nintendo Switch RPGs To Look Out For In 2020

Neoguardian86

I'll be frank, i'm not super excited for any of these except the Prinny collection which i don't think is an RPG (its just related to an RPG series).
MAYBE pick up Bravely Default 2. but i got so many other more interesting choices coming down.
Not to mention backlog of games that haven't been played yet.

but in so far as RPG's go, i'm more interested in Cyberpunk 2077 and WatchDogs Legion (if you count it as an RPG) then i am in any of these games.

Re: Super Mario 35th Anniversary Rumours Intensify

Neoguardian86

I would be so in for all of this if it were true.
I’m still hoping Metroid Prime trilogy is real too.

Driving me crazy how so many publishers have put up their back catalog on Switch in one form or another but Nintendo continues to be absolute misers about bringing their much beloved back catalog over.

Re: Nintendo Expands The Switch Online SNES And NES Library With Four More Games

Neoguardian86

This is to be frank, disappointing, if this is gonna be a subscription service, just give us the damn library already. You’d have to be subscribed to keep access anyways.

Most of these reveals get panned by viewers already, so the drip strategy to build hype is not working as intended.

And it’s not like these reveals become the conversation of the gaming community online at large outside of the specific Nintendo fan niche.

We all know that for these games is not that difficult at all for Nintendo to do. It’s just the same emulator.

Imagine if Disney did this with Disney+ and every 2 months just randomly drip fed whatever from their vast library. Could be a classic, or could be some obscure thing from the 70’s that maybe your mom vaguely remembers as a kid...
