With the prospect of several peculiar months ahead of many people around the globe, the fact that there's a clutch of Nintendo Switch releases confirmed for the next month or two is heartening. Thanks to the global situation, the games below are more-or-less the final batch of titles that don't currently have a vague '2020' release date attached or an even more nebulous 'TBD'.
Fortunately, there's plenty of quality coming up soon, and with games like Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and 2K's triple helping of port packages, Switch gamers will have lots to keep them occupied over the coming weeks months (if you can peel yourself away from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, that is).
Let's have a look at the biggest games coming to Switch in the next couple of months, shall we?

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition - 29th May
Monolithsoft’s epic RPG Xenoblade Chronicles originally launched back in 2011 on the lil' old Wii. Now it's back to on Switch as Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Series fans will no doubt have played the sequel on Switch already, so it's nice to have both of them available on Nintendo's latest console.
With improved visuals and a peppering of improvements over the original standard-definition release (and the New 3DS version), we'll only be missing a port of Wii U's Xenoblade Chronicles X and we'll have the full set on Switch. Wouldn't that be nice, hmm? In the meantime, we're itching to see how the original Xenoblade Chronicles holds up nearly a decade after its debut.
XCOM 2: Collection - 29th May
One of the surprise announcements from publisher 2K in the Nintendo Direct Mini broadcast, Switch has plenty of brilliant strategy games to its name already, but there is always room for a classic and XCOM is the series that birthed an entire sub-genre of strategy classics branded as XCOM-alike or XCOM-style.
XCOM 2 is Firaxis Games' 2016 sequel to the rebooted XCOM: Enemy Unknown from 2012. XCOM 2: Collection for Switch features four DLC packs (that'll be the Resistance Warrior Pack, Anarchy’s Children, Alien Hunters and Shen’s Last Gift) and the War of the Chosen expansion, too, so we have high hopes for this when it releases at the end of May.
Bioshock: The Collection - 29th May
There's always a lighthouse, there's always a man, there's always a... er, big gun? Yes, it's been a while since we played these classic, atmospheric first-person shooters and it's fantastic to have them Switch-bound in all their remastered glory. This collection brings BioShock Remastered, BioShock 2 Remastered and BioShock Infinite: The Complete Edition to Nintendo a Nintendo console for the first time ever (they're also available separately on the eShop), and we're looking forward to heading back to the soggy depths of Rapture.
However, one thing to note is that if you're buying the games physically, you'll need to make sure you have plenty of space to install them because this collection, the XCOM Collection above and the Borderlands Collection below will require a hefty amount of free space on your Switch's internal memory or Micro SD card. We do wish publishers would kindly put a stop to this sort of thing. Time to invest in a more substantial Micro SD card, we suppose.
Borderlands Legendary Collection - 29th May
The final in 2K's trinity of collections, Borderlands Legendary Collection includes Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, as well as a load of add-on content for each game. Again, if you're buying physically you'll need to make sure you've got space to download the content which doesn't come on the cart itself, but it's still a treat to be getting these games on Switch regardless.
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics - 5th June
Published by Nintendo, Clubhouse Games was an unassuming little DS title which amassed a huge following, so while it's hardly the huge summertime megaton Switch game you might have been hoping for in June, we've got high hopes for it! With a large assortment of classic board and tabletop games to choose from--including Poker, Slot Cars, Go and Chess--Switch's local multiplayer focus means this Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics collection could shine brighter than ever before. Deal us in.
Burnout Paradise Remastered - 19th June
It’s taken a while, but the remastered version of Burnout Paradise is finally power-sliding to Switch. Some people will tell you that this is still the best open world racer ever, and while there’s plenty of competition in that genre on other platforms, the lineup on Switch isn’t quite as packed. We’re excited to finally be getting behind the wheel of this classic on a Nintendo console.
It also includes a whole bunch of DLC packs from the original game, 60 FPS gameplay and some Switch-exclusive touch-based map control. Perhaps most importantly, you can now play it on the bus / train / toilet. There’s a good chance, then, that this could be the best ever version of the game. Look out for our review nearer the time.
The Wonderful 101: Remastered - 30th June
The glorious return of this previously Wii U exclusive comes following a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign from developer PlatinumGames. Along the way it broke through some Stretch Goals meaning that The Wonderful 101: Remastered will feature additional content. This means that there will be something new for veteran fans of the original game, although we imagine most of them contributed to the Kickstarter already.
If you missed out on The Wonderful 101 first time round, this is the perfect way to catch up on Switch. Not long to wait now, even if it has been delayed a bit.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in May and beyond.

TW101? You sure about that release date?
@RazumikhinPG Ha! When it comes to affiliate links, guess NL don't care about contradicting other articles on their own website!
I want some mario, kirby, kid icarus, zelda, metroid, castlevania games, maybe a new donkey kong would be nice
very exciting
@Julien it's all about them clicks.
Anybody else get deja vu or just me?
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/04/video_19_exciting_new_games_coming_to_nintendo_switch_in_may
@RazumikhinPG they dont contradict anything.
Only the physical release is affected but the digital release is still coming out at the 19th.
They never started that this list is a physical games only list. Seems like you just want them to look bad because you have nothing else to do.
I though Cat Quest and Cat Quest II The Pawsome Pack came out in July and Little comes out on June 23rd which is what the NL article you posted said?
So is ancestors legacy confirmed for switch? Really interested in it. The link shows no results on amazon
@MegaKBang so what's that Amazon link for, sweetheart?
I think there might be a few pushbacks. Spirit of the north is mid June now too
The Fairy Tale game looks decent but the series is so ‘’meh.”
@Roam85 Come On!!! Boobs and Dragons, how bad can it be?!?
Doesn't the Outer Worlds deserve a summary? This is the main game that I want.
"We do wish publishers would kindly put a stop to this sort of thing." It all depends on buyers. If they keep on doing their game, publishers won't change it.
Borderlands and Bioshock collection $50! Lol.. So basically a bunch of old over priced games. got it
So old ports and shovelware.
Minecraft Dungeons is also coming, but digital only.
I really want that minecraft controller
@mazzel honestly the dragons is alright... and a bit of boobs in anime comes with the territory, a hot springs filler episode is to be expected.
With Fairy Tale, they kind of show the boobs and fanservice to a point it grows tiresome. There’s nothing special if every chapter spends half the time on friendship and the other half on chest and crotch shots.
Super Mega Baseball 3 on May 13th.
Really wanted those bioshock and borderlands collections in physical without even caring about the abusive price but considering you have to download 40Gb, ain’t no way I am buying these half assed ports. Might go for Metro redux but i finished it twice on PC already... Anyway nothing for me in 2020 so far.
Is it May 29th yet?
..........
How about now?
Ion fury for me and Xenoblade
@geni53yr7 jungle beat 2?
Xenoblade Chronicles is all I need
The only thing I’d be excited for is borderlands and maybe bioshock, the first borderlands was my entry into the role play games so would be nice to play that again
@TheLightSpirit what is it you guys have against people using a service or visiting a website and voicing some criticism, eh?
I give them clicks by browsing the website and seeing the ads on the page, nothing wrong with that. The fact I see the ads on here is already bringing them money.
Everyone knows these lists serve one purpose only: affiliate links for extra revenue. So the least they could do is get it right. This was clearly a list done beforehand and they forgot to fix it before posting. I've pointed it out in the comments. It boggles the mind that you and the likes of you have an issue with that.
Whoa whoa whoa, when was The Wonderful 101 Remastered announced? Was it during the Direct mini? How did I miss that...
@RazumikhinPG Spot on!
@slipperygerik Think Platinum Games intentionally kept the retail release quiet so more people would fund their kickstarter campaign.
I would've cancelled my bid, with or without coronavirus, if I knew it was going to be available from Amazon (for less) only a couple of weeks later!
And that's before the physical copy for backers got delayed.
Still waiting for a release date on RPG Maker MV
I can’t believe some of the pricing of these games. Cat quest, burnout, bioshock and so on...
@Mgene15 Bro, they're collections with tons of games and DLC included
I have the Borderlands collection pre-ordered and a week booked off work for some co-op with the wife. Also have a pre-order on Xenoblade.
Will also be getting the bioshock collection but as I have the Metro games, and various Dooms to play it can wait.
The Outer Worlds may be worth a look but I don't know much about it yet.
@mrmememan bro, there old as hell and $10 on ps and Xbox.
@fusermarucs I’m convinced Nintendo is the most expensive way to game.
@Mgene15 But the best. Can't beat the best. The best is priceless.
@Roam85 I actually stopped watching after the arc where these really old and strong dragons come through this portal thing. Did it get worse after that?
There may not be many new games a lot of ports but for me, there's plenty I'm interested in. I'll be buying them all digitally...eventually.
Clubhouse Games
Xenoblade Chronicles
The Outer Worlds
Bioshock 1 and maybe Infinite
Borderlands 1 or 2,not sure which is best?
Super Mega Baseball 3
Astroport SHMUP Collection
and depending on reviews
Descenders
Mr Driller Encore
Monstrum
The Persistence
@KatiaManagan I forgot about that. I will add that to my lengthy list above. I loved the demo for SMB2.
Should have released the Bioshock Trilogy as separate games. Not paying £45 for What is mostly a download, may as well pay £8 on the PSN
All physical pick ups for me.
Xenoblade
The Wonderful 101
Cat Quest
Oddworld
The Outer Worlds
Sponge Bob
Depending on download sizes and if both collections have gyro aiming. Local wireless play (Borderlands)
Borderlands collection
Bioshock collection
Xenoblade, Borderlands, Bioshock, Xcom
I don't care about physical card and price
My dream come true can play those games in handheld mode
I didn't expect all four awesome games to be released in 1 day
My only hope is 720p with stable 30fps
XCDE, Bioshock, The Spirit Within, and The Outer Worlds are all really tempting but I’ve got to budget right now. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but thank goodness The Wonderful 101 was delayed!
@mesome713 first party maybe
Borderlands, xcom 2 and bioshock collections are all £32.75 from offergames.co.uk if anyone's interested.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens is also coming to Switch on May 28!
Wonderful 101 Remaster, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and Shantae and the Seven Sirens for me.
Some of those aren't on Amazon if so isn't the game itself.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Shantae and the S...
...hey, wait a minute. There's been no announcement on the physical and collector's editions. That sucker is right around the corner! Whaaaaa?
@mesome713 Nintendo is the best yes but £49 for a burnout game from 2008 is taking the piss. As is £30 for Cat Quest.
The ports seem a little pricey at first glance.
But Borderlands, Bioshock and XCOM 2 offer A LOT of content.
Three Bioshock games? That's a lot of gaming.
XCOM 2 with War of The Chosen? Oh boy that's a lot of tactical action.
-I spent dozens of hours with base XCOM 2 on PC.
Borderlands was never my jam, but people spent hundreds of hours on each single title.
So I can't argue that you're not getting your money's worth with those.
Burnout Paradise though? Get outta town, come on.
But still, I'm going to have to wait for a sale, especially since I've already played all of these before.
Maybe I missed it but The Outer Worlds is coming on the 10 of June, why is that not on here?
@fusermarucs What does Nintendo have to do with burnout or Cat Quest? If you want to blame someone, blame EA and PQube for marking their prices up.
@RPGamer That Limited Run Games was/is/will be making it...? Lol
For that matter, the Funko Pop came and went, but we've not seen squat about the Totaku figure.
Shantae and Xenoblade are my games for May.
I am considering the Namcot Collection, but not if Japanese is necessary and no English for the menues, hoping for an official Western release.
@Nintendo_Thumb oh yes you are quite right - not blaming Nintendo. And I wouldn’t have a problem with burnout (to take a specific case) being £20 or so: I realise it costs money to adapt a title for Switch. But on no account does it take as much time and effort to port a game as it does to develop the game in the first place, which is why I have an issue with EA charging full price for a port of a 12 year old game. Same goes for Bioshock, x-com etc etc. To be clear the only issue I have is “don’t be daft I’m not paying that”
@Razer it is there tho. Just not highlighted.
I have Xenoblade Chronicles on pre-order. Am interested in Little Town Story but the price is a little high and am not sure it's worth it.
@RazumikhinPG what kinda dumb logic runs this site?
Games that are ports from 10 years ago are highlighted and solid current generation titles like The Outer Worlds gets relegated to a small mentioned anyone can miss?
This idiotic site contributes so massively to the lack of 3rd party support we get.
I’m on hold till July but will get fairy tail, story of seasons, mr. Driller, the outer worlds, yumeutsutsu, clubhouse, all the 2k collections, burnout, moto gp, trails of cold steel, and rpg maker.
Edit: I take that back getting SoS day one for the same sex marriage. I just wish they would redo a wonderful life or DS so I can finally marry Nami properly.
That's all well and good, but where the hell is the first party game Nintendo??
They are just relying on third parties to keep the console going. Seems like they were concentrating so much on Animal Crossing that they forgot to be working on something else
