@Spectra_Twilight I am totally serious... I am talking about Nintendo as a COLLECTIVE COMPANY. They must have international standards for the games they publish, not just regional ones. I can understand them not wanting to publish a game because of content that may not work in certain regions, now when the game is not being released because of POOR QUALITY, then I think it is incredibly short sighted of them, AS A COMPANY, to still publish it in certain regions.
We live in a highly connected world where word about quality gets out rather quickly. How can NINTENDO justify to their WORLDWIDE user base that a bad quality game deserves to be published by them in certain regions, but not in others???
That just generates bad publicity all around for the Nintendo brand and will surely affect the sales of Devil's Third in Europe and Japan, after all, people in those regions who read that the American arm of Nintendo is not publishing the game will surely have doubts about buying the game...
@XCWarrior I understand that NoE and NoJ approved the game in their respective regions, but that still does not make a lot of sense and sends the wrong message to Nintendo fans that the standards for some gamers are different than others, considering the fact that NoA is not publishing the game here because of apparent QUALITY reasons.
My question is, why does Nintendo feel it can shovel a turd game to one segment of its gaming fanbase, while the other segment is protected from spending their hard earned 50 bucks on a bad game?
Never really cared for Devil's Third. Seemed like a project that had a lot of promise, but turned out to be a real turd. Funny how Nintendo deems it unfit for North American players, yet unloads the turd on the European/Japanese gamers. :/
The problem is Nintendo is still being run as if it were a small Japanese-centric toy company in the late 80s - early 90s. It's time for Nintendo to modernize their corporate thinking and truly become a first rate global player with global ways-of-doing-business in mind.
I'll buy SMM, but I don't like the fact that it is being treated as a Triple A title. When it was announced, I always assumed it would be sold for $29.99 - $39.99, maybe an eshop only title or like a Captain Toad release, just to keep gamers happy until the real Triple A titles were released (Zelda, Starfox, Metroid, etc). Guess I was wrong...
Can't fault Ubisoft for porting it over. The way I see it, they are a business and their one main objective is profit. Given the time/effort/money that was put into the project, nothing wrong with wanting a decent return on investment.
Another bad week.... The Wii U life cycle is up in about a year or so, and there are TONS of games left to be added to the Virtual Console... I fear we won't be getting many of them
I find it strange that the console doesn't have the Nintendo logo anywhere. I mean, it was a partnership afterall, and the Nintendo brand was surely more recognizable in the gaming community than Sony (which was new to the gaming scene).
Nintendo basically killed the Wii U at this E3. The only game currently slated for 2016 is "Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem" which looks....weird (to put it lightly). And possibly a new Zelda game (which will probably launch at the end of 2016 alongside the superior NX version).

@allav866 Since according to Mr. Iwata it takes a long time to get a game to the VC, why doesn't Nintendo form stronger partnership with third-party companies to bring their games over. Capcom and Natsume have supported the VC, but SquareEnix hasn't made available a single VC game on the Wii U!!! Soooooo many great games could be made available (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, etc).
@Lizuka Exactly! Other than getting the age rating from the appropriate rating board, there is no excuse for it to take so long to get VC games that other countries have had for months!
I understand Mr. Iwata's points concerning the VC, but one thing that I find to be really annoying is how long it takes for some VC games to reach other shores (Europe to NA, and vice versa). Sometimes the releases are simultaneous, while other times (Donkey Kong Country series, for example) takes months!
@Peach64 My thoughts exactly. They will try to replicate the Wii's success with a casual, low priced gaming system that is different from their competitors (as always).
He sounds like a nice guy that truly loves gaming, but I have to agree with the other users, Epic Mickey 1 and 2 had a great concept but the actual game mechanics were very flawed...
@RainbowGazelle Come to think of it, not really hahaha! But at least it was shown at various E3s and Nintendo Directs and even had it's own Nintendo Direct. And it was pushed as the "big Nintendo M-Rated game"....
However they market/sell this game, it will most likely fail miserably. Even with all the promotion that Bayonetta 2 got it still sold poorly, which is a damn shame.
