The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

It's that time again, North American gamers, for a look over this week's Nintendo Download Update goodies. One of the greatest games of all time is up for grabs, while there's a mix of Nindie and major third-party options through the Wii U and 3DS eShop stores. Throw in a load of discounts and there's plenty to choose from, so let's get to it.

Missed the European Download Update details earlier in the week? You silly sausage! Don't worry though, the details are right here.

Wii U eShop

Roving Rogue (Padaone Games, $7.99 / $9.49CAD) - This joins the run of retro-styled platformers on the Wii U, in this case including a co-op experience with plenty of running, jumping and teleporting. With 42 levels this promises much, and we'll see whether it hits its targets or goes rogue in our review.

Quadcopter Pilot Challenge (TACS Games, $8.99 / $9.99CAD) - An RC take on Pilotwings, it seems, there'll apparently be over "200 challenges in 7 modes", along with three difficulty levels; it's also set to utilise a separate GamePad view and a camera angle 'from the ground' for extra realism. We'll take to the skies and bring you a review soon.

Wii U Virtual Console

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo, $9.99) - Widely acknowledged as one of the finest games of all time, this Nintendo 64 classic makes its way to the Wii U; the iconic adventure title has previously had re-releases on the GameCube and Wii Virtual Console, in addition to its 3DS remaster. A true great in its genre, we gave this a perfect score in our Wii Virtual Console review back in 2007.

3DS eShop

Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 (Koei Tecmo, $39.99) - A surprising localisation in light of the first sequel skipping the West, but nevertheless welcome for fans of Koei's frantic action games that also want a little more strategy; it's eShop only in North America, though. In addition to historical battling this looks set to offer plenty of content, with challenge modes and online rankings among the additional features.

Mercenaries Saga 2 (CIRCLE Entertainment, $4.99 / $6.29CAD) - This seems like a title inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics, looking almost identical to Square Enix's legendary turn-based strategy title, incorporating the same isomeric view and very similar animation; that's not necessarily a bad thing. We'll set off on a quest to bring you a review.
