@rjejr Maybe MGA Entertainment will step in. According to the Washington Post (owned by Jeff Bezos lol):
"A group of toymakers led by Isaac Larian, chief executive of MGA Entertainment, the giant behind brands such as L.O.L. Surprise!, Little Tikes and Bratz, on Wednesday submitted a bid to buy Toys R Us’s Canadian arm, which includes 82 stores, according to Larian. He added that he is also looking into buying as many as 400 U.S. stores, which he would seek to operate under the Toys R Us name."

Some of the USA stores might stay open, according to CNBC...
"The retailer is looking for ways to keep the brand alive. In one plan, the company would sell the stronger Toys R Us Canadian business, along with roughly 200 of its most profitable U.S. stores, to a new buyer. The new business would then be run out of Canada."

Wow, 4 great VC weeks in a row!
First Mario Galaxy, then Metroid: Zero Mission, Mario Advance 4, and now Final Fantasy Tactics!!!
That has to be some kind of a record for the North American Virtual Console!
Now if we could only get Super Mario RPG next week...

Re: Hardware Classics: Sega Game Gear

Game Gear was my first handheld gaming console. My father bought it for me, and the only two games I ever got for it were Sonic 2 and X-Men. The graphics were amazing for its time, but a few things really bothered me about the system:

  • The screen was terrible to look at in the sun
  • The battery life was horrible (6 batteries!!!),
  • It was big and heavy and not very portable (because of the batteries)
  • I absolutely hated that the games did not have save features! You had to start from the beginning every time!

A noble effort from Sega, but ultimately a failed experiment...

@mikegamer
Yeah, Reggie needs to go. NOA is definitely in need of a change of leadership.

As for Star Fox, I would imagine since Nintendo was the original publisher, owns the Star Fox franchise and probably owns the proprietary software (I assume they paid Argonaut Software to develop the Super FX chip, but that Nintendo would ultimately own the actual chip/software). Maybe they are waiting to release it in an "Earthbound: Beginings" style... I can dream can't I?
