I do agree that's it's a big deal but unfortunately I think the figures are slightly skewed by the availability (of rather lack of) of the PS5

Had it been more readily available I think it would have been a different story so I wouldn't read too much into the Switch outselling the PS5

Just for context I own both consoles so I'm not a fan boy either way

I finished work on 23rd December for Christmas and go back on 3rd January

I set myself a target to play Super Mario Galaxy and collect all 120 stars.

As of yesterday Im on 98 stars

(In fact what am I doing on here? I'd best be getting on with it)

I know nothing has been announced yet but I really hope we're getting a new Mario game next year to compliment this Movie.

Mario Oddsey is 5 years old now so we're definitely due one.

I'm pretty sure there will be one in development but I've a feeling it will be saved for the Switch 2 or whatever they decide to call it ( probably Switch U knowing Nintendo)

Sounds pretty cool. Will probably pick it up further down the line when it's on sale.

12 tracks doesn't quite justify the launch price tag for me

Maybe a modern free game per month that we get to download and keep.

I know PS plus (or essential as it's now called) tends to give 4 free games per month but in fairness NSO is a fraction of the price so I think 1 free game would be reasonable

I'd take an Oddsey 2 game in a heart beat but my preference would be a new game altogether.

A trip back to Dinosaur Land would be nice but obviously in a 3D setting

The Wii U.........Probably my biggest gaming disappointment

In theory it seemed a cool idea but after Nintendo Land it seemed even Nintendo themselves didn't really know what to do with that gamepad.

Until they released Mario Maker of course which was perfect for the Gamepad but unfortunately by that point it was too late to save the console.

It did have it's fair share of brilliant games but the majority of them have since been ported to Switch so just my opinion but I don't feel there's any reason to go back to it in 2022

I really hope they make a Video Game based on this movie, it looks amazing

The N Sane trilogy and It's about time we're both fantastic so if it's more of the same I'd most definitely be interested.

Actually this reminds me I really should go back and try to finish It's about time. I got roughly half way through and never went back to it

I used to have an Atari ST (that was my first entry into video games before getting a SNES)

Watching that video I didn't see many games that I remembered. Could be that alot of the games I had were 3rd party with licensing issues.

With Nintendo Switch online I do obviously have access to all the NES, SNES and N64 games and alot of them (not all) have aged terribly.

I've a feeling it would be the same with this collection. Out of 90 games maybe 1 or 2 might be half decent but the rest will have aged badly. Unless you've real strong childhood affiliations for the listed games of course

Oddly enough I've never played this game. I played the SNES version back in the day.

Also I did have (probably still do somewhere) the 3DS version.

Looking forward to giving this one a try

Oh I completely agree. My point was that as long as it gets a release I really don't mind which console as I'm fortunate enough own all 3 of the current main consoles.

Before anyone points it out I'm fully aware that it will literally never come to PlayStation. More chance of winning the lottery twice in a row and then being struck by lightning the following day

Any chance those conversations can continue and give us a way to play Diddy Kong Racing as well?

Preferably on Switch but I'll happily take it on Game Pass if needed I'm not too fusy

Recently been replaying Everybody's Golf on the PS5 (via PS4 backward compatibility). I was toying with the idea of the paid DLC to unlock some new courses but having discovered this New game I think this will be the better option

I found a gem of a game in my loft. It's called Mario is missing.

Not sure if it's worth a great deal

I've played the majority of the new Mario party titles (from Wii onwards) but never did play the originals so looking forward to giving them a go.

Oh and I've heard Golden Eye is meant to be decent

Coincidentally I've currently been replaying Everybody's golf on my PS5 and really enjoying it.

Even the wife loves to get involved and play which is quite rare.

Speaking as someone who unfortunately, has never been a Zelda fan or an RPG fan that was probably one of the worst directs I've ever seen.

If I liked Zelda more then I'm sure I'd be a little more hyped but it's just not for me (and yes I have tried a few of them).

The highlight for me was probably when they showed the new N64 games being added. In particular Golden Eye

Other than that it was all a bit meh

I've mentioned it in another post somewhere but Mario Kart 8 is so old now (if we're counting the Wii U version) that I'm just gratefull for any new tracks that we get. It's just a nice bonus to have something fresh to play on whatever they happen to be. I bought the pass at a discounted price of around £18 when wave 1 launched. It was a while ago now obviously so the money is forgotten about and each new wave almost feels like a free upgrade.

Yes the restaurant menu reference was a light hearted joke. My wife does it all the time and it drives me up the wall. We can't go anywhere without her knowing what she's going to eat first. In fact to go a step further we can't even go out shopping without her checking of something is in stock first. Completely takes the fun and excitement out of doing anything

You strike me as the type of person who can't go to a restaurant without looking at the online menu first.

Jokes aside while I do understand what you're saying this is Mario Kart for goodness sake. Hardly an unknown mystery box. Do you really need to read to menu before knowing what you're getting??? It's not like it's a new game by an unknown developer. You surely must feel comfortable enough to buy it knowing it's going to be a quality product

Me too but all in good time. Wave 2 hasn't even been available for 24 hours yet. My point was why can't we just enjoy what we have even if its for a short time instead of chasing the next hit

Not to mention that it kind of spoils the surprise when wave 3 does release

As someone who's never played Mario Kart tour (and has no interest in playing it) this isn't the only new course on a personal level.

I'm playing all the Tour courses for the first time with this DLC expansion which kind of makes it feel better value

Edit: oh and before someone says "huh you could have played them for free anyway on MK tour."

I'll argue to the death with you that it's totally not the same playing them on a mobile phone with touch screen controls compared to playing with joy cons on a 65" TV

No offence to anyone but these dataminers have clearly got too much time on their hands.

Why can't we just enjoy Wave 2 for now instead of constantly looking for the next big thing

I'm from the UK but currently in feurtaventura on holiday. Hoping the time frame is the same here seeing as there's no time difference in here and the UK .

Entertainment in the hotel is dreadful so 8 new tracks on Mario Kart will keeps us entertained tonight hopefully

It could do with a bit more meat on the bone but overall I can't complain.

I only really bought it for Bowling and Tennis and neither if them disapoint providing you're playing against a human opponent.

I've no problem with golf or any other games being added later as long as they are free

To be honest I really don't mind, Mario Kart 8 is so old now that it's just nice to have some fresh tracks to race on whatever they happen to be.

I like most people would have preferred a Mario Kart 9 but I guess this is the next best thing.

I'm not an expansion pass member so opted to buy the DLC instead so I could keep it without worrying about paying a subscription.

My only complaint is that it feels like forever between the release of the waves

Either that or my memory is very sketchy as it's obviously something I've never needed

I remember playing it back when it was new on the GameCube and wasn't overly impressed with it. At the time far too many of the levels had me thinking to myself "thank goodness that's over with". So in essence almost felt like a chore.

Saying that I did play it again with Mario 3D allstars and to be fair really enjoyed it.

I guess the advantages of this day and age are if you're struggling in how to complete a level you can quickly look it up on you tube (I should add I only ever do this as a last resort with any game)

Back in the early noughtys the you tube thing and internet at your fingertips wasn't really an option

First computer I owed was an Attari ST which had about 30 games with it.

My first real memories though have to be the SNES as that was the first console I owned. It came bundled with the GOAT super Mario world

I always played the NES at friends houses but was never lucky enough to actually own one

Without items it simply wouldn't be Mario Kart IMO

Diddy Kong Racing is the one that would get me to upgrade

Absolutely brilliant game (just an FYI I haven't bought it, I'm one of the game pass crew)

As much as I'm enjoying NSS it does feel like theres something missing. I've no issues with Golf (or any other games) being added at a later date but the games that are on there to begin with do seem very bare bones.

2 examples off the top of my head are with Bowling there's no 100 pin challenges or anything comparable. Also with tennis on Wii sports after each game the AI would get more and more difficult after each win.

Other than selection from easy, medium or hard there doesn't seem to be any sense of progression.

To be fair I don't currently have NSO so haven't played online at all. Only single player and with friends in the same room. Not sure if playing online will give a bit more meat on the bone so to speak

I'm actually really looking forward to this. Even to this day my wife and I still occasionally fire up Wii Sports for a game of bowling and tennis. My daughter who is now 8 also loves getting involved (she loves real life 10 pin bowling)

Ive got it preordered mainly so I can finally but my Wii U into retirement and make some space under the TV (and save a HDMI port)

I've mainly only ordered it to play Tennis and Bowling (and probably Golf when it arrives in an update)

The rest are just an added bonus so not too worried

This one looks pretty cool. If I like 3D Mario games am I likely to find this interesting?

The pre order bonuses are mostly junk that I'd throw in a draw and it'd never see the light of day again.

The main reason I pre order is simply to guarantee that I get it on launch day (no doubt I could easily go in to pretty much any store and buy it on the day but there's always a paranoid part of me that convinces me it may sell out)

Also Smyths are usually pretty good at giving discounts for a pre order
