Recently been replaying Everybody's Golf on the PS5 (via PS4 backward compatibility). I was toying with the idea of the paid DLC to unlock some new courses but having discovered this New game I think this will be the better option
I've mentioned it in another post somewhere but Mario Kart 8 is so old now (if we're counting the Wii U version) that I'm just gratefull for any new tracks that we get. It's just a nice bonus to have something fresh to play on whatever they happen to be. I bought the pass at a discounted price of around £18 when wave 1 launched. It was a while ago now obviously so the money is forgotten about and each new wave almost feels like a free upgrade.
Yes the restaurant menu reference was a light hearted joke. My wife does it all the time and it drives me up the wall. We can't go anywhere without her knowing what she's going to eat first. In fact to go a step further we can't even go out shopping without her checking of something is in stock first. Completely takes the fun and excitement out of doing anything
The internet is both a blessing and a curse sometimes
You strike me as the type of person who can't go to a restaurant without looking at the online menu first.
Jokes aside while I do understand what you're saying this is Mario Kart for goodness sake. Hardly an unknown mystery box. Do you really need to read to menu before knowing what you're getting??? It's not like it's a new game by an unknown developer. You surely must feel comfortable enough to buy it knowing it's going to be a quality product
Me too but all in good time. Wave 2 hasn't even been available for 24 hours yet. My point was why can't we just enjoy what we have even if its for a short time instead of chasing the next hit
Not to mention that it kind of spoils the surprise when wave 3 does release
As someone who's never played Mario Kart tour (and has no interest in playing it) this isn't the only new course on a personal level.
I'm playing all the Tour courses for the first time with this DLC expansion which kind of makes it feel better value
Edit: oh and before someone says "huh you could have played them for free anyway on MK tour."
I'll argue to the death with you that it's totally not the same playing them on a mobile phone with touch screen controls compared to playing with joy cons on a 65" TV
I'm from the UK but currently in feurtaventura on holiday. Hoping the time frame is the same here seeing as there's no time difference in here and the UK .
Entertainment in the hotel is dreadful so 8 new tracks on Mario Kart will keeps us entertained tonight hopefully
I remember playing it back when it was new on the GameCube and wasn't overly impressed with it. At the time far too many of the levels had me thinking to myself "thank goodness that's over with". So in essence almost felt like a chore.
Saying that I did play it again with Mario 3D allstars and to be fair really enjoyed it.
I guess the advantages of this day and age are if you're struggling in how to complete a level you can quickly look it up on you tube (I should add I only ever do this as a last resort with any game)
Back in the early noughtys the you tube thing and internet at your fingertips wasn't really an option
As much as I'm enjoying NSS it does feel like theres something missing. I've no issues with Golf (or any other games) being added at a later date but the games that are on there to begin with do seem very bare bones.
2 examples off the top of my head are with Bowling there's no 100 pin challenges or anything comparable. Also with tennis on Wii sports after each game the AI would get more and more difficult after each win.
Other than selection from easy, medium or hard there doesn't seem to be any sense of progression.
To be fair I don't currently have NSO so haven't played online at all. Only single player and with friends in the same room. Not sure if playing online will give a bit more meat on the bone so to speak
I'm actually really looking forward to this. Even to this day my wife and I still occasionally fire up Wii Sports for a game of bowling and tennis. My daughter who is now 8 also loves getting involved (she loves real life 10 pin bowling)
Ive got it preordered mainly so I can finally but my Wii U into retirement and make some space under the TV (and save a HDMI port)
The pre order bonuses are mostly junk that I'd throw in a draw and it'd never see the light of day again.
The main reason I pre order is simply to guarantee that I get it on launch day (no doubt I could easily go in to pretty much any store and buy it on the day but there's always a paranoid part of me that convinces me it may sell out)
Also Smyths are usually pretty good at giving discounts for a pre order
I picked up my Wii on the day it launched but didn't actually open it or play it till Christmas day as it was a present off my girlfriend (who is now my wife)
I'll never forget that Wow factor of the first time I played Wii sports Bowling, how simple but effective it was.
At first the Wii was pretty hard to come by so not many other people I knew had one so we had lots of friends around to play it and they were all equally impressed by it.
Even to this day we still fire up Wii Sports via backwards compatibility on the Wii U for a bit of retro fun
Probably will pick it up at some point. I'm assuming as the games are from the N64 / GameCube era they won't have unnecessary motion controls forced upon them.
My first experience of Mario party was the first one released on the Nintendo Wii (Mario Party 8 I think) so these will feel like new games to me
"It's also fair to say that for those only interesting in the retro game library who don't play Animal Crossing: New Horizons or don't want that DLC expansion, it may be a tougher sell at those prices. "
I hope not (Purely for selfish reasons as I've just treated myself to an Xbox Series S so I could get Xbox game pass, would turn out to be a waste of money if I could have it on my Switch as well)
I would have probably skipped the N64 mini if such a thing was ever released as I already have easy access to the games I like on there (If it came with Diddy Kong Racing that may change my mind)
The one I was really interested in was a GameCube mini but that was mainly so that I could play Mario Sunshine. Now that I have a copy of 3D allstars I don't need that either

Re: Make The Switch To Virtual Fuel In 'Gas Station Simulator', Coming Next Month
Day 1 buy (nothing more to say sorry)
Re: Random: This Fan Found A Sealed Copy Of Nintendo Power #1 - Should He Open It?
I found a gem of a game in my loft. It's called Mario is missing.
Not sure if it's worth a great deal
Re: Poll: What Switch Online N64 Game Are You Most Excited About?
I've played the majority of the new Mario party titles (from Wii onwards) but never did play the originals so looking forward to giving them a go.
Oh and I've heard Golden Eye is meant to be decent
Re: Dev Behind PlayStation Series 'Everybody's Golf' Releases New Game On Switch
Coincidentally I've currently been replaying Everybody's golf on my PS5 and really enjoying it.
Even the wife loves to get involved and play which is quite rare.
Assuming it's a new game and not just a direct port I'd most definitely be interested in this
Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?
Speaking as someone who unfortunately, has never been a Zelda fan or an RPG fan that was probably one of the worst directs I've ever seen.
If I liked Zelda more then I'm sure I'd be a little more hyped but it's just not for me (and yes I have tried a few of them).
The highlight for me was probably when they showed the new N64 games being added. In particular Golden Eye
Other than that it was all a bit meh

Re: Rumour: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 2 Datamine Might Have Revealed Future DLC Tracks
No offence to anyone but these dataminers have clearly got too much time on their hands.
Why can't we just enjoy Wave 2 for now instead of constantly looking for the next big thing

Yes for the last 3 nights we've been out thanks. Lovely place to be fair

Re: Nintendo Has High Hopes For Nintendo Switch Sports As It Nears 5 Million Sales
It could do with a bit more meat on the bone but overall I can't complain.
I only really bought it for Bowling and Tennis and neither if them disapoint providing you're playing against a human opponent.
I've no problem with golf or any other games being added later as long as they are free
Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Datamine Might Have Leaked Details About Future DLC Tracks
To be honest I really don't mind, Mario Kart 8 is so old now that it's just nice to have some fresh tracks to race on whatever they happen to be.
I like most people would have preferred a Mario Kart 9 but I guess this is the next best thing.
I'm not an expansion pass member so opted to buy the DLC instead so I could keep it without worrying about paying a subscription.
My only complaint is that it feels like forever between the release of the waves

Re: Charles Martinet Thanks Super Mario Sunshine For The "Beautiful Memories"
Wow..... In my head when I think of a 20 year old Mario game I automatically think of Super Mario World on the SNES
Thanks for making me feel old on this Friday morning Nintendo Life
Re: Nintendo Says To Stop Using Its Wi-Fi USB Connector Due To Security Concerns
Didn't even know such a device existed
Either that or my memory is very sketchy as it's obviously something I've never needed

Re: Video: What Was Your First Video Game Ever?
First computer I owed was an Attari ST which had about 30 games with it.
My first real memories though have to be the SNES as that was the first console I owned. It came bundled with the GOAT super Mario world
I always played the NES at friends houses but was never lucky enough to actually own one
Re: Random: Mario Kart 64 Nearly Had A 'No Item' Mode To Appeal To F-Zero Fans
Without items it simply wouldn't be Mario Kart IMO
Re: Nintendo Reassures Fans "More" N64 Games Will Be Added To Switch Online
Diddy Kong Racing is the one that would get me to upgrade
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge Sells Over One Million Copies
Absolutely brilliant game (just an FYI I haven't bought it, I'm one of the game pass crew)
Re: EA Has Renewed Its Partnership With Middle-Earth Enterprises
EA and a mobile game?
That's a combination that will go down well on this site

@steventonysmith
Agreed, Twilight Princess was awful
Re: Reggie Had To Fight For Wii Sports As A Pack-In, And Miyamoto Wasn't Happy
Probably the main reason the Wii sold so well to be fair
Re: Review In Progress: Nintendo Switch Sports - Familiar Fun With Friends, But Little More
I'm actually really looking forward to this. Even to this day my wife and I still occasionally fire up Wii Sports for a game of bowling and tennis. My daughter who is now 8 also loves getting involved (she loves real life 10 pin bowling)

Re: Hands On: Nintendo Switch Sports Has Great Highs, But Disappointing Lows
I've mainly only ordered it to play Tennis and Bowling (and probably Golf when it arrives in an update)
The rest are just an added bonus so not too worried
Re: UK Charts: Kirby And The Forgotten Land Gobbles Up The Top Spot
I've actually never played a Kirby game in my entire life.
This one looks pretty cool. If I like 3D Mario games am I likely to find this interesting?
Re: Talking Point: Should We Still Be Pre-Ordering Games?
The pre order bonuses are mostly junk that I'd throw in a draw and it'd never see the light of day again.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass DLC?
Bought the pass but from Shop to for £16.85
Re: Soapbox: Wii Sports Wasn't Just Waggle, It Was An Important Gateway To Gaming

"It's also fair to say that for those only interesting in the retro game library who don't play Animal Crossing: New Horizons or don't want that DLC expansion, it may be a tougher sell at those prices. "
This pretty much applies to me.
Re: Rockstar Officially Announces Grand Theft Auto Trilogy For Switch
Throw in GTA 1 and it's a day one buy
Re: Poll: The Nintendo Switch OLED Is Out Today, Are You Getting One?
There should be a 6th option in the poll.
"I'll get one if / when my original Switch dies"
Re: Mario Kart Tour Adds Tanooki Mario And The Super Leaf In Its Next Update
Does anybody actually play this? (I guess they obviously do but I don't know a single person who does personally)
Why can't Nintendo do some updates for Mk 8 or better still announce MK9
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch OLED Model Looks Lovely, But May Also Disappoint
It looks pretty cool but as someone who plays 99% docked mode there's simply no reason for me to get one as it isn't a significant upgrade.
Maybe if my original Switch ever packed in I'd probably get one
Re: Poll: Mario Golf: Super Rush Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
I was going to but your review talked me out of it.
PGA tour 2k21 was free on Xbox last weekend and I think that's probably spoilt it for me. Ended up buyin the 2k game for £16
Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Nintendo Direct At E3 2021?
As directs go it was average, expected more being E3
Re: Roundup: Here's What Was Revealed In Nintendo Direct E3 2021
Not the worst direct I've ever watched but considering its E3 I can't help but feel a bit disappointed

For me nothing beats the reveal of the Nintendo Wii and Super Mario Galaxy
Re: Nintendo Switch Online App Updated To Version 1.11.0, Here Are The Patch Notes

My heart says Diddy Kong racing 2 (or even a remaster)
Head says it's probably nothing at all
Re: Rumour: Is Something Going On Between Microsoft And Nintendo?
If Microsoft hadn't just released their newest consoles I may be slightly more excited.
At best it's probably a shared game, in all likelihood probably nothing at all
