Well, it looks like there's potentially been another leak for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass.
Following the recent release of Wave 2, it seems dataminers have been able to identify new courses with the assistance of "music preview files" included within the latest Version 2.1.0 update.
Dataminer OatmealDome went into a bit more detail about it on Twitter:
Nintendo accidentally left many music preview files in the version 2.1.0 update, allowing us to identify multiple unreleased courses!
What is a “music preview file”? Because it may take some time to load a full music file from the ROM, a separate “prefetch” file is created of the first ~1 second which can be loaded into memory in advance. This prefetch is played while the full file is being loaded.
Unfortunately for Nintendo, while they deleted the full songs of unreleased courses from the ROM, they accidentally left some of the prefetch files. (They’re stored in a separate place.)
It’s possible to identify several courses just based on the first ~1s of their music!
Following up on the original leak, Twitter user Fishguy6564 provided a rundown of tracks possibly coming in future waves. Here's what might be on the way:
– Rock Cup: London Loop (Tour), Peach Gardens (DS), Boo Lake / Broken Pier (GBA), Alpine Pass (3DS)
– Moon Cup: Berlin Byways (Tour), Waluigi Stadium / Wario Colleseum (GCN), Merry Mountains (?), Rainbow Road (3DS)
– Fruit Cup: Amsterdam Drift (Tour), Wii, DS, ?
– Boomerang Cup: Singapore Speedway (Tour), GameCube, GBA, Los Angeles Laps (Tour)
– Feather Cup: Tour, Wii, Sunset Wilds (GBA), Tour
– Cherry Cup: Bangkok Rush (Tour), GameCube, SNES, ?
– Acorn Cup: Vancouver Velocity (Tour), Maple Treeway (Wii), ?, ?
– Spiny Cup: Tour, GameCube, ?, Wii
So, there you go - these tracks could be coming in future waves if this datamine is accurate. Keep in mind though that there's no official confirmation and everything is potentially subject to change between now and the release of these future waves.
How would you feel about the above tracks being featured in the Booster Course Pass? Tell us down below.

3ds rainbow road! Please be true!
Waiting for the ultimate version to release on switch 2 😉
Why is maple tree way the last cup 😭
I just hope that 3DS Rainbow Road is really coming.
I was thinking Dino Dino jungle and koopa cape had been leaked on here sometime ago. I’d most like to see DK mountain and Dino Dino jungle come back.
It’s funny I played the SNES and N64 versions and saw myself as not having missed that much by skipping the GC and Wii Versions. But almost all the tracks people are excited for I’ve never heard of.
Honestly I’m really enjoying the Tour tracks a lot. Though part of me hopes (and knows this won’t happen) that they’ll release some version mode that allows you to play courses by theme. I’d love to play all the tour city tracks back to back without having to select them.
Again, if Nintendo would just communicate with the fans better, leakers would not have to communicate for them
@Zeldawakening
They want it to be a surprise.
I wonder how many Rainbow Roads we might end up with when the Booster Pass is said and done.
If Rainbow Road 3DS is included, then we would have enough for a full Rainbow Cup, right? SNES, N64, 3DS, then Wii U/Switch?
3DS Rainbow Road was so good they made it into a Smash Bros stage. If this is true....incredible.
3DS Rainbow Road and DS Peach Gardens make me happy! I reeeeeeeeally want Airship Fortress from DS/3DS. I just love the music.
Wishlist:
DS Airship Fortress
GC Wario Coliseum (doubtful since we have Waluigi Stadium instead... but could break one lap into three, the way they did Rainbow Road 64)
SNES Bowser's Castle (Any)
3DS Maka Wuhu
Wii Delfino Square
Vancouver Velocity & Berlin Byways have the best songs ever. I can’t wait to hear the remixes!
Daisy Cruiser
Delfino Square
Maple Treeway
Moonview Highway
Peach Gardens
Toad Factory
These are the best of the rest.
I hope we get Wario Colosseum!
1. 3ds rainbow rd
2. bangkok rush
3. amsterdam
4. luigis mansion
5. dk mnt
@Slinkoy1 I feel your pain.
@Slinkoy1 saving the best until last, it seems!
No offence to anyone but these dataminers have clearly got too much time on their hands.
Why can't we just enjoy Wave 2 for now instead of constantly looking for the next big thing
So it seems like 3DS wario shipyard is out... Well, heres still hope for GCN Peach Beach, Daisy Cruiser, DK Mountain, or Mushroom Bridge!
All of the GBA additions are excellent. I honestly love the GBA game and themeing.
Airship Fortress and Luigis Mansion DS would be very welcome...
With this, this would certainly be the definitive Mario Kart ever!
Alpine Pass uh? It really seems they don't want underwater sections in this DLC. Would have preferred Wario shipyard. And even if I'm happy for Peach garden, it means that there'll only be one between Luigis Mansion, Airship fortress and Delfino Square.
Wario Colosseum, Daisy Cruise. Please let it be true so I'll be very, very, mildly disappointed.
@Zeldawakening if they did that, people would be 'Nintendo are giving away too much information'
They're damned if they do, they're damned if they don't.
@DavidMac You stopped just as the tracks started to become insanely good!
@KindofaBigDeal they’ve done a pretty awful job of that lmao
I want this to be real just because of 3DS Rainbow Road and Wario Colosseum
No more N64 tracks would be a shame. I was hoping Banshee Boardwalk or maybe even Wario Stadium could make it. I’d be happy with Vancouver Velocity and Sunset Wilds. Merry Mountain should be a given for the holiday season wave this year or next.
3DS Rainbow Road would be brilliant. With that and the recently released Waluigi's Pinball, I might finally have to double dip and get the Switch Deluxe version.
Huh... so according to the banner image leak we had a while back the other DS track is Delfino Square. No Luigi's Mansion? Maybe they didn't like the moving trees...
I'm surprised this DLC of returning courses is actually just as much new stuff and tour stuff. Everyone thought they'd be able to fit in pretty much every retro track.
Between the banner leak, this, and the two tracks hinted at in coconut mall we can pretty much work out all the retro tracks now (well that is assuming they don't change their minds about tracks, which is very possible)
Edit: ohhh, no airship either... I thought that was a 3DS track... boooo. Maybe there was too much in that track, the bullet bills and moles etc. maybe it's one of the mystery tracks but they're undecided because they need to make sure the mario kart 8 CPU's can navigate the tracks... I hope that's what's happening and I hope they pull it off!
@Scapetti the banner wasn’t showing delfino square but instead tour Amsterdam drift, so luigis mansion or airship fortress can still show up
Well, this leak shows a decent lineup, though it seems poor Wario Stadium may be left to rot in Mario Kart 64 forever. In addition, it seems we will have to wait quite a bit for Maple Treeway, but at least we already have Mushroom Gorge.
@Member_the_game Some of us actually want to know as much as we can for what we paid for.
@AlexanderDaniels
Me too but all in good time. Wave 2 hasn't even been available for 24 hours yet. My point was why can't we just enjoy what we have even if its for a short time instead of chasing the next hit
Not to mention that it kind of spoils the surprise when wave 3 does release
@Dizzymario ahh thanks for the info. I was looking at outdated information. Still, someone should put all this information together if they haven't already!
@Member_the_game Hot take, but I for one don't care for the surprise element for something that is offered up for sale. I would like to know all additional DLC before I buy over buying into a mystery box of content.
@AlexanderDaniels
You strike me as the type of person who can't go to a restaurant without looking at the online menu first.
Jokes aside while I do understand what you're saying this is Mario Kart for goodness sake. Hardly an unknown mystery box. Do you really need to read to menu before knowing what you're getting??? It's not like it's a new game by an unknown developer. You surely must feel comfortable enough to buy it knowing it's going to be a quality product
@Member_the_game Well, to be fair, so do a lot of gamers. A lot of dataminers are hackers, programmers and/or tinkerers who are looking for a challenge, so this kind of stuff is always going to have an allure to a certain type of person. A hobby’s a hobby.
Hmmmm, does merry mountain hint that we won't be getting the next dlc pack until this holiday? I hope not, but it wouldn't be that much longer a wait than it was for wave 2.
@Member_the_game You're emphazing Mario Kart of all? There's dozens upon dozens of possible track candidates and expanded with the possibility of new courses. . There's some courses I desire, some I care not for. Honestly, would had preferred DLC packs of courses like the WiiU version did so we have the cheaper option to pay for a serving of tracks instead as a whole and stuck with unfavorable ones. But like I said, hot take! Regarding your joke comment, I'm old fashioned, I never thought to look up online menus of restaurants being that I lived in an era without the internet for so long, ha.
@AlexanderDaniels
I've mentioned it in another post somewhere but Mario Kart 8 is so old now (if we're counting the Wii U version) that I'm just gratefull for any new tracks that we get. It's just a nice bonus to have something fresh to play on whatever they happen to be. I bought the pass at a discounted price of around £18 when wave 1 launched. It was a while ago now obviously so the money is forgotten about and each new wave almost feels like a free upgrade.
Yes the restaurant menu reference was a light hearted joke. My wife does it all the time and it drives me up the wall. We can't go anywhere without her knowing what she's going to eat first. In fact to go a step further we can't even go out shopping without her checking of something is in stock first. Completely takes the fun and excitement out of doing anything
The internet is both a blessing and a curse sometimes
While I don't mind some of the tour tracks I dislike how they are adding so many. I'd rather have more of the classic tracks.
Merry Mountain is from Mario Kart Tour.
Most of these do sound like early versions, as they sound kinda like MIDIs (and Waluigi Stadium and Bangkok Rush sound genuinely awful right now). The techno remixes of Berlin Byways, 3DS Rainbow Road, and Vancouver Velocity sound excellent, though, and the new versions of London Loop, Boo Lake/Broken Pier, Merry Mountain, Los Angeles Laps, and Maple Treeway sound promising even in their presumably unfinished states. Kind of crazy that this leaks all of Wave 3, too (and with it some tracks that weren't previously leaked for the pass). At this rate, we know of over half of the remaining tracks
If these lists turn out to be true, does anyone else think that Tour is WAY, WAY overrepresented here? There would be no less than one and sometimes two tracks from Tour in EVERY upcoming update. What's worse is that so far the Tour tracks are easily my least favorite courses of the Pass on average; being based on real world locations actually makes them comparatively flat, one-dimensional, and boring against regular MK tracks. To be completely honest, from both a mechanical and thematic standpoint they don't even feel like they belong in the same game.
I really hope these data leaks are wrong, at least where the Tour tracks are concerned. Nintendo can do better, and we should be able to expect more for our money.
This game is a monster and the course pack is the best valued dlc ive ever seen
@Slinkoy1 as a Vancouver Velocity fan I feel your pain 😭
As great as the next wave is (Berlin, 3DS RR, Waluigi Stadium etc.) I’m so sad I have to wait a year & a half for Vancouver! It’s kind of annoying because newer tracks like Bangkok Rush are coming sooner. But that Berlin Byways remix is godly and nearly makes up for it!
