I will more than likely be pre ordering one, as long as it doesn't cost PS5 Pro money (for the record I'm fairly confident it won't)
My only other criteria for pre ordering or not is that it must have at least one "Must have" launch title.
When I bought my OG Switch I didn't really have much to play on it at first because I hate Zelda games so once the novelty of being able to "Switch" wore off it didn't get much use
But then I thought isn't it just as easy (probably easier) to take a real cartridge out of your console and lend it to the person you want too in reality.
Just seems like a lot of faffing around to do something we could already do
That is true unfortunately, I was basing it purely on the current exchange rates.... that said I'd still be happy to pay your predicted price of £379..
After the shocking £699 price of the PS5 Pro (essentially £800 assuming you want a disc drive to go with it) anything around the £400 mark suddenly seems reasonable.
One thing I would say that works in our favour being in the UK though....... the price you see is the price you pay...... VAT etc is already added in.
In the US they always add the tax on when you get to the tills. So that $400 suddenly jumps to maybe $430 ish
Been caught out by that so many times when we visit Disney World in Florida 😂
100% mate.... don't get me wrong theres definitely a time and a place for handheld gaming and I appreciate everyone's circumstances will be different regarding access to the TV.... But personally I'd never choose to play in handheld mode if I didn't have too.
There probably is the odd exception but I'd say the only times I've really used it in handheld mode for any length of time is when I've took it on holiday to entertain myself on the plane
Im hoping it will be twice as powerful as the PS5, also hoping the battery can last for at least a week without being charged. That's obviously with the screen set to max brightness and the speakers on full volume.
Also it needs to cost no more than £199 otherwise I won't be buying one
Oh yeah.... and if it also doubles up as a toasted cheese sandwich maker that would be perfect
Whilst I can highly recommend them, I do also appreciate that if you've never played the originals you obviously won't have the same nostalgic ties to the games that I have
If I was a betting person that's roughly the price I would guess at...
It's clearly going to be slightly more the the Switch 1 and as it likely won't complete with the PS5 on a graphical basis it makes sense to be slightly cheaper
It would be nice to have both options available. NSO and Virtual console.
I think PlayStation have got the balance right, I subscribe to PS Plus Premium so obviously have access to a selection of classic PS1 games.
The selection of games could be better but that's a different discussion....... where they have got it right though is that those games can be purchased on an individual basis for anyone that wants them
I believe I've played most of, if not all of the Sonic Racing games, whilst all being decent games in their own right they just always felt like something was missing in my opinion.
A bit like when the wife makes my favourite Spaghetti Bolognese and doesn't put enough Chilli and garlic in it, still a nice enjoyable meal but something just not quite right.
I guess what I'm saying is that I'll always prefer Mario Kart for my Kart Racing
No I know what you mean, even though you might have something really interesting to say or have a really strong opinion on something, if you don't get in there fairly quickly at the top of the board the comment can effectively just get lost and go unnoticed.
A bit like this comment of mine and the one you've just tagged me in..... because this article is now a few days old and we're 65 comments deep, it's quite likely that you and I are the only people that will ever read them lol (saying that I doubt this conversation will be of any interest to anyone other than the 2 of us 🤣)
As I said I was only joking, the strange thing is when someone just comments "First" without actually adding anything meaningful with it..... not suggesting you did or have done that but it does happen (if not on here, then on other message boards)
Out of curiosity.... what happens if you do get the first comment? Do you win a prize?
Edit: sorry if my comment sounded harsh.... I would like to clarify that I am just joking..... although admittedly I do find it strange when I've seen people declare "First" in the past 😂
It's not something I would personally use. I buy my consoles to play video games.
I've no issue as such if they (Nintendo) wanted to put a similar system in place, just as long as it's use is fully optional and doesn't impact the way we play our games
I'm fine with them continuing to support the Switch for the foreseeable future as long as we still get exclusive games for the Switch 2 .
As a day one PS5 adopter it used to really drive me crazy seeing most games released on PS5 and then also PS4.
I paid all that money so I could have the privilege of playing the latest games on my shiney new console, what exactly was the point if the games are also released on the old system?
It is starting to get better now but PS5 will be 5 years old later this year and it's quite frankly a joke that it's taken this long.
Anyway..... long story short is that I won't be happy if Nintendo do the same thing with the new Switch.
Mario Kart 9 and the likes need to be Switch 2 exclusive
I remember when the Switch 1 price was announced at £279
Confidence was fairly low after the disaster of the Wii U and I tried to convince myself that it was too much to pay and that I wasn't getting one (not straight away at least)
Predictably though I ended up pre ordering one and was balls deep on day one 🤣🤣
The only way to truly stop them is it to manufacture more than it's possible to sell (sell straight away at least) and make sure everyone who wants one can just walk into a store and buy one.
Easier said than done if course but nothing would give me greater pleasure than seeing a scalper stuck with a house full that they can't sell because Nintendo has already made enough for everyone
It works perfectly for PlayStation, when the next number comes out there can be no confusion over whether it's a new product or not, rather than just potentially being an add on for the existing product
Speak for yourself but I for one am very happy with it and a quick read of the comments section suggests that plenty of others are too.
It might not be to your personal taste but that certainly doesn't mean that other people don't want it so I'm afraid you're sweeping statement is way off the mark
I fully understand why they do it, some of those games were absolute masterpieces so it would be almost silly not to find a way to introduce them to a new audience whilst also making a load more cash at the same time.
Again though, I was simply making light of the situation that they managed to get me to buy the same games again 😂
I feel like you've misunderstood my posts and assume I'm attacking Nintendo when in actual fact I was just making light of the situation.
I'm as guilty as anyone for lapping up the Deluxe versions, Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros U, 3D Mario World, DK Tropical Freeze....... I even double dipped on Lego City Undercover
Let's be honest, if it wasn't backwards compatible they would have had an absolute riot on their hands.
It's the bare minimum that people expect from a new console these days.

I'm pretty much a 98% docked kinda guy so as long as I can find a suitable place for it near my TV I don't really care if it's too big to fit in my pocket

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2
@ZAHMED
Yes Smyths only take the money when your order is ready to collect.... usually the night before release.
I've pre-ordered loads of stuff with them and that's how they always do it

@OldGamer999
hahaha you've genuinely just made my day
Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

Thank you..... Just ordered the MK bundle
I've ordered it as click and collect from my local store so I get the pleasure of going to pick it up rather than waiting in for delivery

No idea but I'll be refreshing at midnight just in case 😂

I'm not really a trophy collector but on the PS5 version there appears to be plenty of trophies to go at.
That may add a little more replay value to those that are looking for it
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?
They should rename it "The Remasters Direct"
That said I didn't go into it expecting big things
Re: Nintendo Announces 'Virtual Game Cards' For Switch, Unlocking Digital Lending
@Kiz3000
Except with a physical cartridge you can sell it if you don't like the game or if you decide you won't play it again
Re: Nintendo Announces 'Virtual Game Cards' For Switch, Unlocking Digital Lending
At first I thought it seemed a cool idea
But then I thought isn't it just as easy (probably easier) to take a real cartridge out of your console and lend it to the person you want too in reality.

Re: Reminder: Nintendo Is Removing A Switch Online SNES Game Next Week
I remember owning this when I got my SNES back in the early 90's
It seemed pretty decent at the time.
Unfortunately however, unlike the other game I owned (Super Mario World), this one hasn't aged particularly well.
I do love a bit of retro gaming, however with the modern football games being so good and so polished it can be hard to go back to games like this.
The only older football game I'll make an exception for is Sensible Soccer
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Four More Titles
4 more games that I'll never play lol

According to Google at the current exchange rates $400 is equivalent to roughly £310.
That sounds perfectly reasonable to me and if that turns out to be correct I'd be more than happy

Re: Rumour: Xbox Expected To Join Switch 2 With A New Handheld This Year
The difference is that the Switch 2 (and OG Switch) are not dedicated handhelds.
They are primarily a home console that has the option of being used as a handheld, should you choose to do so.
That's how I've always viewed mine anyway. Home console first, handheld second.
I've had my Switch since day 1 and id say it's spent 95% of it's playing time sat in it's dock hooked up to the TV.
Those percentages aren't likely to change when I get a Switch 2

In that case what are you waiting for, get playing 1&2
Re: Poll: Will You Trade In Your Switch When Switch 2 Arrives?
I'll put my Switch 2 in my gaming room (glorified box bedroom) hooked up to my gaming Monitor alongside my PS5.
The Switch 1 can stay set up downstairs on the big TV, if nothing else just for the occasional game of Nintendo Switch Sports

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Namco Classic 'Ridge Racer 64'
@Greatluigi
They (I say they because I don't know if male or female) conveniently deleted their comments because they were getting too much heat.
It was something along the lines of Nintendo being completely out of touch with what games people want (apparently)
It backfired spectacularly hence the deleted comments
Re: Rumour: Another Xbox Game Could Be Racing Onto Switch 2, It's Claimed
I was planning to get this on PS5 but if this turned out to be a Switch 2 launch title that may well change things.
I believe the PS5 version isn't due out till Spring so hopefully we may know more by then.

Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?

Not just unlocked but a full blown HD remake.
Will that happen??? Obviously not but it's nice to have a dream
