Only on the day Powerwash Simulator was announced for the Switch would a title like Gas Station Simulator not take us by surprise. You would think that the life sim genre had reached its strangely-specific peak with the likes of Goat Simulator, but — as a cursory search of 'simulator' on the Switch eShop will show — you would be wrong. Perfect for all those of you harbouring dreams of running your own petrol station, this garage sim comes to the Switch on October 20th.
In a time in which many are feeling the strain of rising petrol prices, the chance to run a virtual station of your own may not be the stuff of your dreams. But what if we told you that you also get to micromanage your finances as you attempt to keep the station open? Now we've got you, right?
That's right, while other life sim games serve to distract you from the toils of life with a little slice of something that you might not get the chance to do on the daily (power wash a really dirty wall, drive a tractor, be a goat), Gas Station Simulator looks to distract your daily life with, well, daily life. Hey, whatever floats your boat!
For a better idea of the in-game features that Gas Station Simulator has to offer, check out the full list from the official PR below. We have also attached some somewhat janky-looking screenshots of the sim in action, but let's admit it, realism in a game like this may bring the stresses of financial difficulty a little too close to home.
- Renovate, run, and expand a gas station in the desert
- Build new services like a workshop, store and warehouse
- Try to handle everything on your own or hire employees to help out
- Don’t forget about the supplies
- Lots of customization and decoration options
- Lots of different customers with varying needs and expectations
- Lots of management options for you to dive into
With a release date of October 20th, we're afraid that there is still a little longer to go before you can live out your garage-owner dreams. For a little taste of real life on the Switch until then, why not check out our list of the console's best life sims to keep you going?

Well there it is. All of my "Work a real job and have more fun than you do at your actual job" simulators now live on the Switch. I should just retire so I can pretend to renovate houses, clean things with power washers, build PCs and run a gas station.
No option to clean the restrooms gives this simulation that extra dose of realism.
@NotTelevision lolololol
Oh boy, now I can live out my dream job.
I'm a goat day-in, day-out. It's exhausting.
Day 1 buy (nothing more to say sorry)
Looks like a mobile game
@prismt sleeping simulator? I play that one every night.
I hope this is that janky catastrophe that Let's Game It Out played, that was a masterpiece.
Edit: double-checked, and yes it is! Watch this video and you'll probably find yourself much more interested in this weird game than you ever thought you would be:
What's with all the games revolving around menial everyday tasks? If it's not farming, it's running a laundrette or power washing mucky stuff. Now you can fill cars up with petrol. Honestly, next time you have something to eat in an rpg, I'm starting to worry we will have to do the dishes!
@prismt Lol, just read your comment. Great minds erm...something something...
I don’t understand who these are for but with all these simulators of menial tasks being released there must be someone buying them.
Clerks 4: The Video Game
Now this is getting out of hand...
If getting robbed isn't a gameplay scenario then this game is a sham
@prismt Ohh, never thought of that.
Does this game allow my character to carry gun in the shop in case if I get robbed? I once work at a gas station and was robbed at gun point twice in the same year. Both times I manage to bust open the robbers.
Well, what's next, sitting at home and turning on the TV simulator?
Time Wasting Simulator
Might pick this up on offer
We need a playing video games sim
