Got a pre order from Smyths

I will be getting an SD card at some point but as I mainly only plan to use it for Nintendo 1st party games (not exclusively but mainly) I don't think I'll need one for a while.

256gb is plenty to be going along with

I've never bought a Pro controller for any previous consoles.... I definitely need a 2nd controller though, and seeing as the Switch 2 Pro controller is the same price as a 2nd set of Joy Cons I figured it give it a try this time.

I haven't pre order one but assuming they have stock, I'll be picking one up at the midnight launch tomorrow

As much as I do actually like Garfield.... you just know this is going to be terrible lol

The fact the video doesn't actually show any game play is an instant red flag for me

I was kinda hoping they'd made more than they could sell (at least to begin with) so that everyone who wants one could get one.

Mainly though, because if everyone who wanted one had one the Scalpers would be stuck with Consoles they can't sell

I'm not in the US so not directly effected.

However I do have a pre order in the UK with Smyths and this article has just reminded me that the bank card I have on file with them recently expired.

Ive just updated my account with the new card.... had I not read this there's every chance my order would have got cancelled when they attempt to take payment

I only plan on buying Mario Kart to begin with (as it's part of the bundle I've ordered).... So these 3 game cube games will give me an 3 extra games that I've never played before

Nintendo have somehow always been great with their file sizes for 1st party games.

That's why I'm in no rush to buy an SD card, I will get one eventually but 128GB will be plenty to keep me going for a while

I bought the OG Switch day one and it felt like I was the only person out there not playing Breath of the Wild 🤣🤣

I've no particular interest in Zelda as it's just not my thing, however we have booked to go to Orlando Florida in August 2026 and I just cannot wait to visit Super Nintendo World.

I'm hoping as it will have been open the best part of 18 months by then that the crowds won't be too Crazy

The release of Forza Horizon 5 on the PS5 has kind of distracted me and took my mind off things... I do tend to go through phases of either hammering my Switch or my PS5..... At the moment I'm very much in a PS5 phase (mainly due to Forza)

Come the 9th June though the PS5 won't get a look in..... In fact that will probably extend into July with the release of Donkey Kong

Mine will always be 100% charged because it will always be in its docking station and hooked up to the TV.

Pretty sure I can remember being able to adjust the camera on Mario kart 64.

Albeit if only to zoom in or out slightly but it was definitely adjustable

Seeing as it's the same price as a spare set of Joy Cons I think I'm going to treat myself to a Switch 2 Pro controller.

Overall I had (still have) 3 sets of Joy Cons for my OG Switch so never owned one previously.

I play my games in Docked mode 98% of the time so I think I'll get the value from it.

For the record I am just joking lol..... But I do believe you must be pretty stubborn to unnecessarily spend £41 more than you really need too.

As it happens , I do prefer to buy physical myself in case I ever want to trade the game in but I figured that if there's one single game that I'm likely to keep for the entire life of the console then it's Mario Kart so naturally I opted for the Bundle option

I'm happy to skip this one.

Maybe if they decide to add it as a perk on Nintendo switch online one day I might try it then.

If not.... I won't be losing any sleep over not playing it

Wii Sports was a physical disc though, as far as I understand the Mario Kart World bundle is just a digital code (which I have no issue with).

As I understand it, Nintendo don't usually provide sales data for digital games when it comes to the weekly games charts

I wonder if the MK bundle will count towards the overall sales of the game.

Surely the majority of people will be buying it that way

You can't argue that it's not great value for money.

It would be so much better though if games could also be purchased on an individual basis like you can on Playstation for those that want them.

By all means offer the subscription, but also let people buy the games if they want them.

I think it's almost a given that there will be a new 3D Mario game on Switch 2, but still it's nice to get a little confirmation.

The Wii U was the only console not to get one (I'm sorry but 3D world was a 2D game in a semi 3D setting and I won't be convinced otherwise)

Won't be watching live due to work commitments but it'll be the first thing I do when I get home

Where I live, for the last 5 years at least, most new AAA games tend to release at around £65 - £70 depending on where you care to shop.

Mario kart World is £75

Now forgive me but when I went to school (admittedly a long time ago) a jump from £65 to £75 was £10 (a tenner)

I read a comment from someone the other day stating that If Mario Kart World was priced at £60 - £65 instead of £75 we'd all be saying how great value the system was.

I have to say I couldn't agree more with that statement.

The console price itself is pretty much what everyone expected it to be...

In short........ people are losing their minds over an extra tenner for a game.

When you actually break it down and put things in perspective ......it's absolutely nothing and I for one cannot wait to get my Switch 2

I hope that isn't the case to be fair... I love my Mario games more than any other genre, that applies to both 2D and 3D games.

The one blemish for me though was Super Mario 3D world, as a result I couldn't take to Bowser's Fury as it controlled in the same manor.

I always saw 3D world as a 2D game in a 3D setting..... it just never felt right to me (in a 3D game) having to constantly hold the run button

I wasn't a fan of the last 3D Donkey Kong game on the N64 but the fact that lots of people seem to be favourably comparing this with Super Mario Odyssey has definitely got me excited for it.

I'll probably wait for full reviews to be sure but I'm 95% confident it will be a day one buy

I have the MK Switch 2 bundle pre ordered and I just can't wait to play it.

My only problem is that I can't get the day off work because I've already used up my holiday allocations so it's going to be a long day waiting to get home and pick up my new console 😂

I think it all depends on the perspective of when you buy the game...

I'll be in there day one with my pre order already secured.

If in 5 year's time they offered me another 20 new courses as paid DLC to freshen the game up then I'm definitely going to take it as I'll be ready for some new content by then.

However if I'd only just bought the game and then then tried to charge me more it would be harder to swallow.

Either way, people need to remember that paid DLC is completely optional and buying it isn't compulsory

I've pre ordered with Smyths and they haven't taken the money yet.

Back in 2020 though, I did pre order my PS5 through Argos (basically as a last resort because it was impossible to get one anywhere else)

Anyway the point I'm getting too lol .... is that yes Argos took the full amount from my bank instantly

I know what you mean but they found a way to make it work with Mario Sunshine on Mario 3D all-stars so it can be done if they're willing to put in the effort

That's a good point and you're more than likely correct.

For arguments sake though, let's just assume it was straight forward to put them on there..

I still think it's a good idea and a good incentive to have them as a Switch 2 perk / exclusive (call it what you will)

@Skunkfish Nothing beats that feeling of picking up a new console on launch day..... it's the closest thing to feeling like a little kid again on Christmas day.

I saw someone moaning the other day saying why can't Nintendo just put the Game cube games on the OG Switch as well because it's more than capable of running them..... (it wasn't on here it was on Facebook)

It's a valid point I suppose but I think it's a good thing making it Switch 2 exclusive..... it gives people a little bit more of an incentive to upgrade and it's also a reward for those that have upgraded

One of the things that really annoyed me when I got a PS5 was the fact that virtually all the games at the time were also still released on PS4 as well.

The people who shell out all that money on a new console deserve to be rewarded with a few exclusive perks for their troubles

interestingly enough I had the opposite problem with PS5, they instantly sold out and I thought I'd missed out but I did manage to get a pre order in the end...... I just happened to be awake at 3am one morning, decided to check Argos website and there they were.

Just keep checking Smyths, Argos, Amazon, Currys etc on a regular basis...... good luck

I've pre ordered one with Smyths, it's a click and collect order from my local store.... Id rather have the pleasure of collecting it myself when the store opens than have to potentially be waiting in all day for a delivery driver.

The pre orders did sell out fairly quickly though so it was just a case of being alert at the right time.

They obviously sold their initial allocations but hopefully they will get more and there will be another chance to order one

I'd prefer a modern remake, basically the same game with Mario kart 8 style graphics but I think, if anything we're more likely to just get the Original on NSO

Variety is great but I'll still probably play as Lemmy Cooper or Diddy Kong like I always do

I consider myself fairly tech savvy but to tell you the truth a lot of what we've been told so far is just jargon that doesn't mean an awful lot.

Obviously it's early days yet but once reviewers have had they're hands on it properly I'd like them to tell us in language that's more understandable.

For example, if they tell us it's equivalent to a PS4 Pro but not as Powerful as a PS5, or maybe equivalent to an Xbox series S but not as Powerful as a Series X......... that type of comparison would make a lot more sense to me....... and I'm sure a lot of other people would feel the same

I'll be excited if and when they decide to put Diddy Kong Racing on there

Until then, I've had my fill of the existing N64 games on the service

Price of the console is fine in my opinion.... it's the Games that are a bit on the high side.

I think this will be my first console where I go fully digital
