Was planning to play Sunshine as I've waited so long but had a change of heart and decided to play the games on chronological order. Currently about 66 stars deep into Mario 64
I originally pre ordered with Amazon but later cancelled it and pre ordered with Smyths instead.
With smyths I can pick it up when the shop opens rather than curtain twitching all day waiting for Mr Post man (assuming amazon deliver on the day or release)
Just hope Smyths don't cancel and I end up regretting canceling my first order
Probably Sunshine because it's the only one that wasn't previously accessible to me
I did recently play through Galaxy at the start of lockdown (thoroughly enjoyed it). Obviously had I know at the time this was getting released I'd have probably held off, I'm not in such a hurry to play it again so soon.
No doubt I'll get to it once I've finished with Sunshine & 64
I think we were probably spoilt with the effectively endless lives system on Oddesy.
I suppose the advantage with the Switch version is that we'll be able to put the console to sleep and pick up exactly where you left off providing you don't play something else in between.
I played through it again at the start of lock down to keep myself occupied. Every time I switched it back on Peach had sent me a letter offering me an extra 5 1ups.
I guess she must love me more that you
On a serious note though, as great as Mario Galaxy is in hindsight I wish I hadn't played it now as I feel its spoilt my appetite a little for 3D allstars.
I'll still be smashing my way through 64 & Sunshine but I don't feel in such a hurry to play Galaxy again so soon
I've preordered this and to put it bluntly I can't wait to play it.
That said I am slightly disappointed they haven't given it the full remaster / remake treatment, particularly with Mario 64.
I was hoping for something similar to what Activision did with Crash and Spyro where all 3 games were given a fresh modern lick of paint and looked absolutely stunning.
It will print money either way no doubt but does seem like a missed opportunity
Whilst I did enjoy this the first time around on Wii U I have to be honest its probably my least favourite of the so called 3D Mario games.
Having to hold the run button all the time never felt quite right for a 3D game and even then it did feel particularly slow making it rather infuriating to play.
Hopefully this will make a big improvement.
Depending on what Bowsers Fury turns out to be I may well give it another chance. Is it a full on separate game that's included or just a level expansion? Time will tell I guess
I remember having it and didn't like it as much as Mario 64. I remember certain levels felt more frustrating than fun
I foolishly sold it along with my game cube a long long time ago. Its only now looking back that I regret selling it.
Probably due to the fact that it's just about the only Mario game you can't play unless you happen to have an old game cube knocking around (or a mk1 Wii of course but you'd still need a gamecube controller)
I really hope that I'd does get a remake as I'd definitely love to try it again
As good as burnout paradise is is refuse to pay full price for something I can get for half the price (or probably less if I take the time to look) on other consoles.
I hope it sells well and will be happy to be proved wrong but I think they've left it too late. It should have launched at the same time as it did on ps and xbox
I decided to play through galaxy 1 & 2 again earlier this year before the remaster rumours. Hadn't played them for over 5 years and I'd forgotten just how good they were.
If the rumours do turn out to be true part of me wishes I'd held off playing them again as I would have waited for the new shinier version
I used to pay monthly and got a year's free subscription with Super Mario Maker 2.
I believe it expires in September.
As it stands I've turned the auto renewal off.
The nes and snes games were a nice little bonus at first but an awful lot of the games haven't aged very well so Nintendo definitely need to up their game a bit if they want my money again for next year
Obviously this is quite likely an April Fools wind up but for the record in no way would the SNES version of Mario is missing be classed as a hidden gem haha
Great game but I worry they may have left it too late.
If you only own a Switch then fair enough but the vast majority of people nowadays own one at least 2 consoles and when you can pick it up on others for next to nothing will people be willing to pay top wack for portability
That's my one small criticism of the Switch in that I don't really have anywhere suitable to stand it. (probably more down to my own set up in fairness)
I can't stand it in front of the TV because it's too big and obscures my view of the TV.
It wont fit on the shelf underneath along side my PS4 and Wii U because it's too tall. I've ended up having to stand it out of view just slightly behind the TV.
Having ports on the back of the dock only really adds to my problems haha

Glad I cancelled my order with them now and got it from Smyths
Re: Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise Punches Its Way To Switch In December
@YonVonBlett
Pretty much came here to say the same thing. The first game is absolutely fine. Just needs additional music tracks to make it more interesting
DLC could have covered this rather than a whole new game
Re: FIFA 21 Costs £45 On Switch, Despite Being Another 'Legacy' Reskin
I'll be picking up the ps5 version
Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Mario Game?
I'll probably ruffle a few feathers with this comment but 3D land and world don't deserve to be on the list.
They should be in a category of their own as they're neither a 2D game or 3D

Re: Talking Point: Can Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Possibly Be As Good As It Looks?
As someone who's been a massive mario kart fan since the very beginning... I have to be honest I'm struggling to get excited for this one.
Looks cool at first glance but then in reality how many different tracks can you make in your own living room (unless you live in a mansion)
Re: Scalpers Are Already Listing The "Limited" Switch Release Super Mario 3D All-Stars
Why bother when you can still easily pre order your own copy pretty much anywhere

That's what I thought, in which case probably not enough of an incentive for me to double dip this time

I just had a tiny orgasm
Re: "Strong Possibility" Of A Nintendo Broadcast Next Week, Suggests Industry Insider
God I hope so, its been far too long since we had a real one.
2 things in the world I'm desperate to know about
1. Is the 35th anniversary mario 3d remaster a real thing
2. A price and release date for the ps5

8/15 better than I expected, a few tricky ones in there

Re: UK Retailers Guilty Of Inflating Nintendo Switch Prices As Stock Remains Elusive
Supply and demand.
At the end of the day its only worth what someone is willing to pay
Re: Poll: Which Remastered Mario Games Would You Pick For A 'Super Mario All-Stars 2'?
64, Sunshine and Galaxy for me.
Sunshine is a must because its the only game that's impossible to play without an actual game cube (or an original Wii)
Super Mario 3D world is probably too new to qualify and would probably get a stand alone deluxe release as the article suggests

Re: Dixie Kong Celebrates Her Mario Kart Tour Debut With A Special Timeline Video
Disappointed to see its Mario Kart Tour. I very briefly got excited to think it could be a new Diddy Kong Racing or possibly even Mario Kart 9 😔
Re: Feature: Super Mario Galaxy 2 - 10 Years Of Nintendo's Straightest, Greatest Sequel
@BlubberWhale
Either way you won't be disappointed. It's arguably one of the finest games ever made.
I remember when it first released I was away on holiday in Spain so I had to wait till I got home to play it.
Probably the first and only time I've ever wanted to get home from a holiday in the sun haha

Re: Nintendo Says It Will Continue To Increase The Appeal Of The Switch Online Service
@Dirty0814
I think you're being very generous with use of the word "all"
Granted some of them are fine and still very enjoyable to play but some of them are simply terrible. Not even worth a remaster.

Re: Nintendo Switch Is 'Barely In The Middle' Of Its Life Cycle
@sixrings
Not suggesting it isn't. As a Ps4 Pro owner I'm all for a bit of extra power.
Power aside though, the whole Switch concept is simply perfect in my opinion
Re: Nintendo Switch Is 'Barely In The Middle' Of Its Life Cycle
Other than making a new console more powerful, I don't really see where nintendo go from here.
They've absolutely nailed it with the Switch
Re: How Well Do You Know Mario?
Almost ashamed to say I only got 3 correct.
Disappointed with myself as I pride myself on being a mario fan since the late 80's
I am rather hung over from celebrating ve day yesterday with the neighbours (socially distant of course) so I'm using that as my excuse
Re: Super Mario Odyssey Player Discovers A Way To Skip A Chunk Of The Final Boss Sequence
Agh the 27th October 2017. The day this game released
I remember secretly booking the day off work simply so I could spend the whole day playing it.
My Daughter hadn't started school back then so I took her round to my mums for the day and pretended to go off to work.
I still don't feel guilty about doing that to this day.
A new main series Mario game doesn't come along that often and boy was this one worth the wait
Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sold More Digital Units In A Single Month Than Any Console Game In History
I'm guessing this is down to the vast majority of stores being closed and people being stuck at home.
Very impressive numbers whatever the reason.
Despite that I'm proud to say I still went down the physical route. (managed to order a copy online and it arrived just before Easter)

Re: UK Charts: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Sales Jump By 108% To Speed Into Second Place

I'm hoping they saving it for MK9
As much as I love Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I'm ready for an all new game (I had the original on Wii U)
Re: Switch Dock Mod Adds Built-In GameCube Controller Ports
@Jedi_jem
I think I did when I first bought it when I was trying to figure out where best to put it.
I just didn't feel very secure and I didn't want to cause it damage to it. Baring in mind this was when the Switch first launched
Re: LEGO Super Mario Officially Unveiled, Features Interactive Mario And Fan-Favourite Characters

Re: Nintendo Responds To Cancellation Of E3 2020, Says It Will Consider "Various Ways" To Engage With Fans
I always look forward to Nintendo's e3 Direct stream, as for the tree house thing, I wont miss that it the slightest.
Even if they we're playing a game that I was interested in I still found it rather boring

To be fair I can't really argue against that haha
Re: Switch Dock Mod Adds Built-In GameCube Controller Ports
Great idea but those ports couldn't have been placed in a more awkward place.
