I do love a good golf game but this looks too much of a gimmick for my liking.

I do wish EA sports would give us another golf game with motion controls.... I loved them on the Wii

Although I've said many times myself that I just want a more powerful Switch and that they don't need to reinvent the wheel, I can't help but feel slightly underwhelmed by these supposed leaks.

I guess it all comes down to what's under the hood and how powerful the thing is.

In other words how much prettier will my games look & run.

Easy to say with hindsight but in the dark days of the Wii U I doubt even Nintendos most die hard fans would have expected the Switch to be quiet as successful as it has been.

I'm not a doubter by the way, just trying to offer a bit of sensible logic

This game is so much better than Mario Kart 64 (and I love MK64 by the way)

MK is probably better as a multiplayer game but from a single player perspective Diddy Kong Racing will never be beaten in my opinion.

For me the best selling point of the Switch is simply that it can be whatever you want it to be.

I predominantly use mine as a home console but the fact it can be either a home console or a handheld is probably why it's done so well.

Obviously I can only speak for myself but if the Switch was a handheld only device I probably wouldn't have bought one

Obviously nobody knew how it would pan out at the time but it's fascinating to think how different the gaming landscape could have looked had Nintendo not pulled out at the last minute.

Would Sega still be around???

Would Xbox even be a thing???

How random, I've never seen it before but I'll definitely try it next time I have a play through.

Although I did own a copy on the Wii, for whatever strange reason I never really played it properly at the time... I think it was just at a time in my life when I was more interested in going out socialising with friends / girls than playing video games.

So it will almost feel like a brand new game when I do pick it up.

I'm a big fan of both Nintendo and Sony so have no particular bias one way or the other, but this does seem a rather odd and convenient time to suddenly shift the goal posts lol

I think for me it's had to be New Super Mario Bros

Hard to imagine it now because we've had so many of the "New" series of games but back then it was a massive release

It'd been a good 15 years or so since we'd had a 2D side scrolling Mario game so it really was a blast to play it

It's not necessarily the best DS game I played but it's probably the one that brought me the most Nostalgic enjoyment

I wouldn't see it as a deal breaker myself, backwards compatible or not I'd still be buying one.

It is however as others have already mentioned a handy little feature that allows you to do everything with one system instead of having having to have multiple consoles set up.

I'll probably have my Switch 2 upstairs in my games room alongside my PS5 on the gaming Monitor and will leave my Switch 1 set up downstairs for the occasional game of Nintendo Switch Sports as there's much more space

My preference would obviously be for them to just put it on NSO.

The fact I jokingly said I'd buy an Xbox just to play it just shows how much I really want it.

The DS remake wasn't great so unless you have an old N64 knocking about there's no other legal way to play it

If you're listening Rare / Microsoft / Nintendo

please get your heads together and do something with Diddy Kong Racing.

Either make a sequel, remaster the original or just re release the dam thing on Game pass and NSO.

I don't own an Xbox anymore but honestly I'd buy one and subscribe to game pass just for that game

This has renewed my hopes and dreams of getting Diddy Kong Racing on NSO one day

We've not long come back from Florida and so disappointed it wasn't open in time for our trip

Being from the UK it's not somewhere we can afford to go every year unfortunately.

Already started saving for a 2026 trip though

Mind blowing, especially when you consider that Super Mario World on the SNES only sold 20.6 million copies world wide. Also alot of the Mario world games would have actually been packed in with the SNES.

Admittedly alot more people are into video games in 2024 compared to the mid 90's but still, impressive none the less

Probably not to be fair, I always think they look better and more interesting than they actually are in reality.

I'll say the same thing I always say when this subject comes up.

Yeah I'm sure it will be, it'll just be nice to get official specs and details from Nintendo so that we can make an informed decision.

That said, I'm in no rush, good things come to those who wait an all that.

There is something magical about getting a new console though, just the idea of it is giving me flashbacks of Christmas day 1997 unboxing my N64 with Mario 64 😁

I always assumed it was going to be available around March / April of 2025

My 2 all important questions to help me decide whether I'm in the queue day one are....

1. Just how much of a step up is it from the OG Switch

2. Will it launch either with a New 3D Mario game or maybe Mario kart 9

If the answer to question number 2 is a no, I'll probably wait till it does have one of, or both of those games available

I had a Switch day one but for the first month or so I barely had anything to play on it, so once I got past the novelty of actually having one it felt like a bit of a waste.

(oh, I feel I should add that I hate Zelda games which is why I had nothing to play)

I don't see him that much any more but in terms of games consoles not much has changed, he's very much an Xbox die hard whereas I'm very much into my PS5 & Switch

Not technically true, they along with Sega were the OG and started the console wars.

The good old days before the internet when you basically got whatever console your parents decided to buy you.

I had a SNES and my best friend had a Mega Drive (sorry I simply refuse to call it a Genesis) and we were always round at each others houses so felt like we had the best of both worlds

It was top of the UK charts on Monday for game sales so can't have done that badly.

Admittedly I've yet to pick it up but I fully intend to this weekend

I've owned every Playstation and Nintendo console but if the PS6 launches at £700 or more then I'm afraid that's where my love affair with Sony will end.

Could I afford to buy one? Yes of course

But I just can't justify that kind of outlay

It wouldn't bother me if it wasn't as ill still have my Switch to play on no matter what happens.

Having said that, I'll be absolutely amazed if it wasn't backwards compatible

As much as the sales record would be nice, the last thing we all want is another Wii U so yes, I'd much rather they focus on making the next console a success

Very true, we have 2 x Switches in our house

My OG day one Switch and my daughter's Switch light.

We only own 1 copy of Mario Kart

Not this quarter in particular but I do own 5 of the top 10

Yeah it's all about striking that right balance.

I guess it all depends on how much they want that all time sales record.

Personally I think they'd be daft not to try after getting so close

Pretty strong list in fairness although the only ones I'll actually buy are Donkey Kong and possibly Mario Party.

The rest (whilst admittedly are solid games) just aren't my thing

If Nintendo really want that record I think they could do it with a massive price drop in the run up to Christmas, prior to the Launch of the Switch U

It's my one wish every time we get a Nintendo Direct... Ideally a full remake that basically makes it look and feel like MK8 does or if I'm honest I'd be more than happy if we just got the original N64 version added to NSO

Looks amazing and I'd love one for my games room but that's rediculusly expensive (as I know most Lego sets are)

In fairness I hadn't played on it for a while, I tend to go though phases and I've been on a PS5 phase for quite some time.

However recently I picked up Sociable Soccer 24 (as it's a timed Switch exclusive) and I've really enjoyed it.

Playing that inspired me to start afresh with Super Mario Odyssey.

All's I can say is Wow, I'd forgotten just how good it was, it's an absolute ***** masterpiece of a game.

Sorry for the long winded post but if it means getting a new 3D Mario game on Switch 2 in the not too distant future then sign me up and take my deposit right now

I've been tempted to pick it up as I've never played the 3DS version.

My only reservation is that I was worried it might feel like a step backwards from Luigi's Mansion 3

Frustrating ghost cat levels aside, I really loved number 3

More games getting added is always a good thing...... but yeah I'm probably never going to touch any of them

Having never played the 3DS version I'm very interested in this.

I loved Luigi's Mansion 3, it was one of the first games in a long time that I actually saw through to the end and completed.

Although those frustrating ghost cat levels did push me to the edge of quitting from time to time

Not expecting any major new game releases with Switch 2 being on the horizon.

I've mentioned it before but if I could come out of this Direct with just one wish fulfilled it would be to have Diddy Kong Racing released on NSO

Better still a full blown remaster but I'll take the N64 version on NSO

I picked this up last Friday when it first launched for the Switch.

I'll be honest at first I didn't really like it but I persivered with it.

It took me approximately 8-10 games to get the hang of it (losing every one of them and ending each match with at least a couple of players red carded).

But then something just clicked and I'm now absolutely loving it, just can't put it down.

The games are really short so it's so much fun to just pick up and play
