If my Day 1 Switch broke for some reason I'd probably get one but otherwise it's a pretty pointless "upgrade"
Especially at this late stage of the Switch's life.
This product is basically either for special edition collectors or people who have more money than sense.... Either that or they're trying to hook the last 5 or 6 people on earth who haven't already bought a Switch
For the first time ever I actually bought it digitally and download it so I'm responsible for a very very small part of that percentage.
I normally like to buy games physically so that I can trade them in when I'm finished (or if I don't like it) but once a new FIFA game comes out the old one is pretty much worthless so I thought what the heck, let's just have the convenience of a download for a change
It's a matter of opinion. The way I've always looked at my Switch is that's it's primarily a home console that has the option to be used portably.
That's the beauty of it ..... it can be whatever you want it to be.
But honestly I've had my Switch since launch day, other than taking it on holiday with me every year for entertainment on the plane it's spends the rest of it's time docked so for me it's very much a home console 1st and portable device 2nd.
I hope you're right and it will eventually come to NSO.
Although if I was given creative control myself my absolute dream scenario would be to have a shiny new remastered version of it as a launch title for the Switches successor.
Do I think that will happen? Absolutely not but we can dream can't we
Easy to say now with hindsight but remember back in the days of the Wii U the Switch selling 29 million would have been relatively successful in comparison.
The fact that it's actually 129 million and still going is mind boggling (in a good way obviously)
Great news that it's not just another copy and paste legacy version.
Unfortunately I am a bit of a graphics whore, especially when it comes to sports games so I like them to look as polished and shiny as possible so I'll be getting the PS5 version.
Though I've never personally understood what all the fuss was about, I just knew before reading the article that the Game Cube controller would sit at the top of the list.
My personal pic would be the SNES pad. It basically set the template for the 4 button controllers that we know and use today.
It was a day one launch Switch, I have the grey set that came with it and the Neon set that was bought approximately a month later when Mario Kart 8 came out.
Over time the drift issue started on both sets but both currently working perfectly since the repair.
Not really the best comparison. If you buy a game digitally it's still yours to play whenever you want in the same way a physical copy would be.
Streaming a film is slightly different as you don't own it, usually it'll be part of a subscription service.
Just an FYI I do buy probably 95% of my games physically. Mainly because they're cheaper and if I don't like the game (or simply when I've finished with it) I can sell it on or trade it in towards my next purchase.
I don't disagree with you regarding quality. In my defense I don't really watch a lot of Movies and those that I do watch tend to be a case of 1 and I'm done. I no longer feel the need for a big collection of films I may or may not watch once in a blue Moon.
Don't get me wrong I do still have a few classics on Blu-ray from my childhood that I'd never part with, Back to the Future trilogy, Leathal weapon just to give you a few examples.
At home we have Sky Movies, Netflix, Amazon prime and Disney plus and if after all of that I'm still struggling to find something to watch I have IPTV on my Fire stick which allows me to watch virtually anything I want.
I reached a point in my life where less clutter and more space was more valuable to me than a cool collection of DVD's and Blu-rays
edit... for the record I know people obviously do still buy them. my comment was kind of tongue in cheek...... I just honestly can't remember the last time I bought one myself.... between various streaming site and a dodgy fire stick I simply don't have the need for them anymore
Where the hell did I say that Nintendo would be gone?
I said the Switch will be long gone by then... In 10 years time the Switch will be 16 years old and we will hopefully have had multiple successors by that point.
How exactly does that make me a NintenDoomed fandom fan boy (whatever that even is)
I know the Switch is mentioned in the article but the use of the words " Nintendo platforms" leads me to think they are more refering to the Switches successor (Switch 2 or Switch Pro whatever they decide to call it)
It is a 10 year commitment after all and the Switch will be long gone by then
As long as they don't balls it up like they did with the Wii U and make your average Joe in the street think it's some sort of accessory and not an actual new console then I don't really mind.
They don't need to reinvent the wheel on this one, the Switch is already basically the perfect blend of Home console and handheld. Just give it more power under the hood so that developers can easily port over the games they're making for the PS5 and Xbox series everything's and possibly an improved or updated controller
Given the fact that the Super Mario Movie releases this year I'd be absolutely amazed if we don't get a new Mario game to compliment it (although probably later in the year of course)
We're definitely due a new one. I'd prefer a 3D one but would happily take a 2D one if offered

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 17.0.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
You have to wonder just how unstable the poor Switch was back in March 2017
Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy A Digital-Only 'Switch 2'?
If you'd asked me a few years ago I'd would have been a definite No.
However my stance has changed since using PS Plus extra and Xbox Game pass.
The convenience of already having the games download to your console without having to Switch discs / cartridges can't be underestimated
Re: Reminder: The 'Mario Red Edition' Switch OLED Is Out Today, Will You Be Getting It?
@Porky
I hope it does pass PS2 sales one day, I really mean that. Would be fully deserved if it does.
The last paragraph of my previous post was just a joke, obviously there are more than 5 or 6 people still yet to buy a Switch.
I do stand by the point though that if you already have a Switch this product isn't really a worthwhile upgrade unless your a collector of some sort

Re: Review: EA Sports FC 24 - The Best Football Game On Any Nintendo System, Finally
Sounds great, though I will still be buying the PS5 version as usual

Re: Rumour: A Red 'Super Mario' Switch OLED May Be Launching Soon
It falls into the category of if I didn't already have a Switch would I buy one?
Answer - Probably Yes
Is it worth upgrading to one?
Answer - Naa
It's really either for extremely late Switch adopters or special edition collectors with more money than sense

Re: Video: The N64 Kart Racer That Deserves To Be On Switch
@KayFiOS @Jiggies
There's nothing wrong with the DS version as such.
My only issue is that the DS has such a tiny Screen.. I want to replay it with modern graphics in glorious high definition on a 65" TV
Compared to that the DS port just doesn't cut the mustard I'm afraid (just my opinion obviously)
Re: Video: The N64 Kart Racer That Deserves To Be On Switch
@Giancarlothomaz
As clearly stated in the article.... that version doesn't count and we just pretend it didn't happen
I want to replay it in glorious high definition, not on a little crappy 4" screen

Re: Video: The N64 Kart Racer That Deserves To Be On Switch
This game is crying out for a remake, basically just make the same game and make it look like Mario Kart 8 deluxe and you're into a winner.
For my money this was a better game than Mario Kart 64 (certainly from a single player perspective at least)
Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo IP Should 'Switch 2' Launch With?
Sounds an obvious one but a new 3D Mario game would be a must for me
Oddesy will be 7 or 8 years old by that point so we're definitely due one.
That is assuming we don't see one on the Switch first but I doubt it

Anything and I mean literally anything would have been better than Wii U
Re: PSA: For Goodness Sake, Don't Fall For This Nintendo Switch 2 'Leak'
And why is it called 'Switch 2'?! Nintendo's more creative than that.
May I politely remind you of the Wii U

In case you hadn't worked it out I was joking.
Try not to take life so seriously
Re: Sega President Teases Possible Sonic "Reboots And Remakes"
Sonic games suck, Super Mario all the way!!!
Ooops, sorry just for a second there I thought I was back on the School play ground in 1992

Re: Don't Expect To See Future Super Mario Games On Mobile, Suggests Miyamoto
It would be fair to say that I enjoy Mario games probably as much as if not more than anyone who regularly visits this website.
However I have absolutely zero interest in Mario Mobile games.
I don't have an issue with them existing but I'll never play them
Re: Nintendo Will Repair Out-Of-Warranty Joy-Con For Free In The UK, EEA, Switzerland
@Stocksy
Mine definitely were not in warrenty. Both sets of Joy Cons were from 2017 when the Switch first launched.
It was last year some time when I sent them in so they were a good 5 years old
Re: Nintendo Will Repair Out-Of-Warranty Joy-Con For Free In The UK, EEA, Switzerland
@TommiKinder
I think we just posted more or less the same comment a few seconds apart 🤣
Re: Nintendo Will Repair Out-Of-Warranty Joy-Con For Free In The UK, EEA, Switzerland
I thought they did this anyway?
Last year I sent my 2 sets of Launch Joy cons off for repair and they didn't charge me a penny for it.
Happy to say that they seem to be working fine since I got them back.

Re: Uh Oh, It Looks Like The Mario Movie Blu-ray Steelbook Release Date Leaked
@Wheatly
That's pretty much what I did. I worked on the basis that if I'd forgotten that I owned it then it could go.
The only things I kept was things that were extremely rare and stuff that wasn't likely to be available on a streaming device anywhere.
I used to love having a big collection but it reached a point where I simply ran out of storage space
Re: Uh Oh, It Looks Like The Mario Movie Blu-ray Steelbook Release Date Leaked
Do people actually still buy DVD's and Blu Rays?
edit... for the record I know people obviously do still buy them. my comment was kind of tongue in cheek...... I just honestly can't remember the last time I bought one myself.... between various streaming site and a dodgy fire stick I simply don't have the need for them anymore

Re: Konami Teases "More" Bomberman On 6th Anniversary Of Super Bomberman R
Having been one of only 3 people in the world who had a Switch day one and didn't buy Zelda I do have fond memories of this game.
In fact until Mario Kart 8 deluxe released roughly a month later it was actually my only game for a short while
Re: 'Tetris Effect: Connected' Is Getting TATE Mode In A Free Update
I love playing this on my PS5 with the pulse headphones on in a darkened room.
You really do get immersed into it
Tetris 99 was always my favourite take on the game till this came along
Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe And Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Cross Major Sales Milestones
I've never quite found what the attraction is with Smash Bros. I have tried it but just don't "get" it
I do like fighting games as well so it's not that I don't enjoy the genre.
Surely I'm not alone in my thoughts
Re: Poll: Which Of Rare's Classic N64 Games Would You Like To See On Switch Online?
Diddy Kong Racing is the main one I want.
Mainly because without an old N64 there simply isn't any other way of playing it (excluding emulators)
I did have the DS version at some point but it just didn't feel the same on a tiny handheld
Re: Xbox Acknowledges "The Journey" It's Been On To Revive GoldenEye 007
