Funny how people were slating this game for ages now it's promising,while devils third has went from being intriguing to bad as both games approach release.

Given how long it's been on other platforms I wonder how it'll perform.so 2016 has this,FExSMT and zelda , between that and the dragon quest nx announcements im rather confused.

Here's hoping we get localisations for both xi and x.i guess that means nx is coming sooner rather than later I've never played an mmo so a localised x may be enough to tempt me.

Any reason given for why it's so large? The levels described seem fairly linear as opposed to some big open world.would they need that much space for the large multiplayer component?

I can see him being a safe placeholder.obviously age is an issue but he'd probably come in to oversee the transition to the nx which Iwata had already been planning and step down somewhere after that when the company's future is more clear: ie If they're continuing with consoles etc whatever the post nx direction they'll probably want someone fresh.

@JJtheTexan there was an advantage for the snes as well and a 3rd party one for GameCube.the 64 also had a fightpad as well not sure about a stick though.

Oh well their loss.kinda funny they're hoping for new hardware when according to everyone "in the know" we're getting a glorified android box.

The ps2 visuals remark seems petty wasn't it only like a fortnight ago the nintendo life writers were on here shouting about how star fox zero and it's gamecube visuals weren't being done justice by the shots released?

I wonder if miyamoto will become the next CEO he's the only guy I know of there stubborn enough and with enough clout to stick to his guns for better or worse.

My wish list would be
Pro type controller and optional tablet
More games on a consistent schedule instead of waiting 3-4 months
Bigger variety of games:sports,fps,batman,sim racers,non smash fighters,more open worlds,collectathons,arpgs and 3d beat em ups would be my choices maybe even an mmo
Virtual console with GameCube,mother 3 ,metal slader glory,air fortress ,unirally,stunt race fx,starwing,marvelous (aonuma a snes game) mischief makers,custom robo ,virtual boy,Saturn ,dreamcast and neo geo 64 and third party n64 games

Glad to see they're continuing to improve the game I had a go when I was off last week I've still not quite fully grasped the crafting system as it's my first experience with this type of game but am sure I'll get there eventually.

NoA won't release it because it has "devil" in the title.anything else is an excuse just like how fatal frame will be papped out on the eshop with little promotion.so that when the nx comes around they can justify everything being of the kiddie/casual friendly amiibo festival and Chibi metroid blast ball nature.

Metroid has always done better in the west than japan sales wise maybe that explains a few things.with retro having 2 teams and nst still kicking around in some form there's really no excuse for nintendo not to be appealing to both sides of the globe.there as stubborn as vince McMahon is when it comes to going against his own audience.

Which probably means game freak would veto it since they have some weird bias against nintendo.no stadium game for wii u,taking ages to use 3d graphics in the main games,not allowing their amiibo to be used in yoshi etc.

Given the larger install bases I reckon it'll sell a couple of hundred thousand copies.maybe not huge but enough to put the combined sales from all platforms over a million.im more interested in finding out if it's tantalus porting and if so what game were getting in return.

I think his attitude is fine for the handhelds,people want durability and to not worry about battery's dying while they're on a journey.consoles are a different matter at this point tho power isn't just for graphics.

If it's a platinum developed streets of rage or golden axe or atlus making a new panzer dragoon saga id be pretty happy.football manager and total war make them plenty of money take a risk on one of those many beloved non sonic ip's!

I seem to remember turok 2 and rogue squadron doing pretty well on the n64.people forget the market was different then and most people I knew tended to buy nintendo but they'd often rent 3rd party games from blockbuster for a few weekends. As opposed to now where folk wait for discounts or preowned from game.
3rd party games don't need to rival mario kart and smash for sales they just need to be profitable (prob between 100-250k onwards if it's multiplat,500k and above for an exclusive) to keep the release schedule ticking over.

They can't get current games ported over so if it's a console relying on android games to pad out the schedule of a handful of first party games then I don't think I'll be the only one passing this up.im not a graphics guy perse but starfox was designed to show off hardware ,3d mario was to introduce new concepts and mechanics and zelda was the standard bearer for adventure gaming.if nintendo aren't prepared to even try and live up to their legacy next time round then I'll spend money elsewhere.

What would be the point of releasing this?.all this talk that they can get 3rd party support from android emulation does anyone actually think that people will buy that?.people already have mobile devices .why would I want to spend £150 minimum just to play a bunch of freemium games on my TV with 2-3 nintendo games I can't fully enjoy unless I've got enough folk available for the required multiplayer numbers?.

Co-op can be fun but it's not always possible.most of my best nintendo experiences have been single players maybe am biased but it seems like there pushing multiplayer as a way to justify not spending resources on the games fans actually want.
Oh and the fact star fox has NO online multiplayer while a series known for isolation like metroid is turned into a team game (no matter how good it may turn out) is frankly baffling.between the co-op and Chibi suits i honestly wouldn't be surprised if samus is undergoing some sort of "casualized" visual makeover to try n appeal to kids more.

@Peach64 do you think android support/emulation is a big enough selling point to the public to make the nx a bigger seller than the wii u?.

For all the talk of them looking at the casual market who would honestly buy a machine to play android games when they already have a phone? Casuals don't care enough about those games to spend money just so they can have them on a big TV screen.

Am I the only one who thinks retro would be wasted on dkr2?.no offence but am sure there's another team who could make a good kart racer.let retro do the Mach rider reboot or new ip they pitched a while back.

I wouldn't mind early access but mainly for multiplayer focused type games or some new first party ip they're worried won't sell.i don't think id feel right playing betas of zelda or 3d mario etc.

@Artwark the pokemon company operates independently from nintendo even though they're the majority owner of the company it's complicated.it was gamefreaks decision to put the pokedex on mobile devices so it's likely this was a non nintendo decision too.

Advance wars ocarina upgrade and probably a couple of 3ds discounts for my fiancé she loves jewel games and all those hidden mystery type ones.

@Toads-Friend they had it on sale at Christmas a month before they were supposed to so I don't know if those sales were registered.the upcoming amiibo bundle will get some sales I'm sure.

Been working this weekend so planning to pick up yoshi when I'm off,I do wish we were getting some kind of arkham game tho even if they can't do a straight port some sort of "complimentary" game would have been nice since I'm a huge bat-fan oh well.

I was kind of hoping for a set of the whole team.i think it's be cool if you had challenges playing as the different teammates a bit like splatoon.like you play the same levels but as falco flying off and scouting ahead finding different routes for fox etc.

I'd like to see playable octolings as dlc or in a sequel maybe with different physics the way luigi differs from mario.
And if there's a sequel the story mode has to be about a young cap'n cuttlefish
