Arc System Works is likely to be a familiar name to eShop aficionados, in particular, though the publisher hasn't always knocked it out of the park with its own games. It's picked up some popular franchise rights, however, including those of Technos Japan's titles.
What brands does this acquisition include? Well, examples include Double Dragon, Super Dodge Ball, River City Ransom and Kunio-kun. Yep, some genuine and cult classics in there.
Arc System Works seems keen to keep the 3DS at the centre of its efforts with these franchises too, with some thought also given to arcades. The company President, Minoru Kidooka, said the following to Famitsu when asked about usage of the Technos Japan licences.
Firstly, we'd like to develop 3DS titles like we've been doing up until now.
Personally, I'd like to see titles such as Kunio-kun and Double Dragon be revived as arcade games again.
This is something we're aiming for the next fiscal year, but I'd like to get the fighting part of Downtown Hot-Blooded March: Let's Go to the Great Sports Meet and make it into a game, and turn it into something that can be played competitively with four players at the arcades.
Of course, there's next to no chance of any planned arcades making much of a splash in the West, it's pleasing to see the 3DS is part of the company's plans. We've already had a lot of these games on the Virtual Console, so we're hopeful of all new titles in this familiar franchises.
What Technos Japan franchises would you like to see re-imagined on 3DS?

I own Arc Style Baseball from the eshop, and the game is fun, just a bit bare bones. I think they can make a good game with those existing IPs. My only concern would be if they don't put enough depth into the game.
Just call WayForward back for the next Double Dragon. They nailed it with Neon.
@VR32F1END Neon DD was an excellent game!! I still don't know why it's not on the Wii U eShop.
As far as new Double Dragon games goes, they can't get on my 3DS fast enough. (please n thank you)
River city ransom and dodgeball for me.
The best Version of Kunio Kun Dodgeball was on the PCEngine. It would be sweet to that version come to Virtual Console or a new 3DS version of the game would be nice.
Double Dragon!!
I would like to see River City Ransom, even if it was just given the 3DS classic makeover.
Double Dragon Neon 2...pweeeeeeeease?
@bezerker99
Same. I'd still like to replay the less than stellar DD3 and the Gameboy sequels. I loved Double Dragon Advance, and I really wished it'd surface on Wii U.
Crash 'N' the boys street challenge was both overlooked and excellent. As long as they do the IP justice I want them to make all of the old Techno games.
Bring me the arcade perfect port of the original Double Dragon please. That would be a nice beginning
3D Classics Double Dragon perhaps?
@Windy HAve you tried the GBA version? it's pretty nice game to have on the go.
I WANT NEON!!! That game was TOO AWESOME!! And an RCR remix would be lovely!
Double Dragon with local play and only need one copy of game with download play. No bells and whistles, just classic double dragon!
Let's have Super Double Dragon on Wii-U VC first!
Double Dragon!!
@millarrp Your best bet is to import a Japanese 3DS then as the system already got 3 retail Kunio games as well as quite a few VC ones and a digital only game as well.
I'm on board for a new Double Dragon game. Also, I would liked o the GBA Double Dragon game on Wii VC.
I can dig on some more Double Dragon on Nintendo.
