Re: Exclusive: We Almost Got A Wii U F-Zero Created By Burnout Studio Criterion

McoobabWATP

After last week there probably couldn't be a more deflating time to leak this news. I dunno why miyamoto is at such a loss at what to do.let platinum make it as some semi open game about captain falcon bounty hunting through space and using the races to catch criminals and avoiding their henchmen kinda like when bayonetta is on the motorcycle.
At the very least it'd be "new" for the series which seems to be his main concern.

Re: Luna Blaster Weapon Arriving Tomorrow For Splatoon

McoobabWATP

I wonder if they kept some of these weapons for when enough folk have levelled up and gained a better understanding of how to use them effectively.
Regardless I think if nintendo has a sustained future in the industry then well look back a decade or so from now and point to splatoon as the true success story to come out of the wii u.

Re: Tablets Stole The Wii U's Thunder, Laments Shigeru Miyamoto

McoobabWATP

I like the gamepad.off tv play is very handy and I enjoy the games I've used it In.i don't think an onscreen mini map would be as effective in splatoon esp for the super jumps.as a big batman fan I really liked how it got used in Arkham city it felt really immersive to me.plus getting family members interested in bayonetta with the touch controls was pretty funny.
If the next hardware has a relatively standard controller then hopefully there'll be an optional gamepad type controller for games that do utilize dual screens and it can also double up as a gaming tablet to play nintendos mobile output on.

Re: Feature: Five Key Moments from Nintendo's E3

McoobabWATP

Apart from devils third they could have shown some of rodea it may not be the best game but I don't see what was to lose by at least trying to promote it.a few more indie games would have been good since FAST and steamworld heist went down well.they had a perfect opportunity to show off 9player runbow mp or even terraria with gamepad inventory since it supposedly due soon.

Re: Take More Risks With Your eShop Purchases, Pleads Nintendo's Damon Baker

McoobabWATP

I've bought plenty of indie games on the eshop.all the curve digital games, swords and soldiers 2 ,retro city ,Ultratron, nano assault master reboot etc.i get paid weekly n usually get at least 1 game a week.ive also got the demos and can't wait to get lovely planet, rive and forma 8 which are the only ones I've tried so far.
Maybe it's more of an American thing Everytime I check the eu eshop whatever indie games are promoted are in the charts.affordable space adventures hung around the top 5 with mario and donkey kong 64 among others for weeks.elliot quest is the only one I didn't see make much impact and that's because after it got in at 19 nintendo decided to run a fortnight of kirby discounts.

Re: Satoru Iwata Didn't Apologise For Nintendo's E3 Digital Event, Says Reggie Fils-Aime

McoobabWATP

@freaksloan people invested money in a console and didn't get the calibre of games they were led to believe they would.
The wii had games in the scope of mario galaxy 1&2 twilight princess ,skyward sword ,metroid prime 3 (later the whole trilogy) even brawl had a more substantial single player mode than smash 4.thats all in addition to the likes of mario kart ,nsmb, donkey kong ,wii sports etc.
The wii u doesn't really come close in that sense, sure mk8 is much better than the wii version and there's a lot of great multiplayer games but 3 years in and the wii u hasn't had many games that offers a single player experience as substantial as those I mentioned even 3d world works better as co-op unless bayonetta and w101 are to your taste there's not a whole lot there(at retail at least)
So if fans are fed up that the console they bought seems to already be getting phased out .with the possibility that the only big single player gamer the console has to offer nowhere in sight till at least late next year and possibly being used to launch another brand new console to boot, and the release schedule being padded with spinoffs of franchises that haven't even had mainline games this generation all the while the "big" games are getting kept for this new console then I think they've got every right to be within reason.

Re: Satoru Iwata Didn't Apologise For Nintendo's E3 Digital Event, Says Reggie Fils-Aime

McoobabWATP

Even If they didn't have more content I show the presentation could have went better. If they' shown devils third ,fatal frame and fast racing neo during it it would have gave fans something different.then in the treehouse they could show the AC games and project treasure as examples of different free to download titles they're experimenting with.federstion force/blast ball being it's own ip would have helped splatoon showed nintendo can do a 3rd person team shooter so I think there'd have been intrigue over a first person one.

Re: Poll: How Excited Are You About Nintendo's E3 Games?

McoobabWATP

I voted must have for zelda but the more I think about it I'm starting to wonder if it'll be the game we think it is.we get a brief bit of footage and told we can go where we want in the world, with no info on gameplay mechanics (other than slowdown to shoot arrows on epona),story, controls etc.
Then they start making statements that all zelda games have been open world to an extent, miyamoto says it'll be suited to short play sessions then aonuma comes out and says they need more time i think that means either
A):aonuma doesn't know what to do with the game.hes has noted problems in development before particularly with the console games.maybe he doesn't know where to take the combat after skyward sword, how to make his puzzles work in a non linear world, struggling to fill said world with memorable characters like midna, maybe his son hasn't told him what mode of transportation link should use this time. Or
B): miyamoto came in and flipped over the table since he seems to hate big games these days and next time we see the game it'll be drastically different and not for the better.

Re: Next Metroid Prime Home Console Title "Would Likely Now be on NX"

McoobabWATP

No nx for me then the people who've stuck with the wii u are getting shafted, the biggest games have been wind waker hd and 3d world which as enjoyable as it is pales in scope to the galaxy games or prime 3 or tp and ss.nintendo could have used some of the cash reserves and at least keep the faithful happy this gen instead were getting n64 assets reused and aonuma spending years on another zelda that'll largely go under the radar since the console will be done by then.

Re: Iwata Vows To Listen To E3 2015 Digital Event Feedback And "Work To Better Meet Your Expectations"

McoobabWATP

@Brett I understand what you mean about the 10 millions others.if nintendo aren't going to give us big games when were the ones sticking by them when no one else is it'd be pretty sickening to me if prime Iv ,f zero, next main 3d mario etc are all just kept for the nx to try n lure in new customers ,sure it's a business but geez loyalty could at least go both ways a little bit.

Re: Sony Is Assisting With The Creation Of Shenmue 3, Chances Of A Nintendo Release Significantly Lowered

McoobabWATP

I think it's pretty clear nintendo don't want games like this on their hardware.open worlds and non linearity are popular in the wider gaming community and we all know how nintendo refuse to "directly compete".even their 3d games play like 2d ones this gen.they think linearity makes them different and eshop aside you'll have to go multiplatform if you want to do something other than pressing right on the d pad/control stick.

Re: First Impressions: Kicking Off With Metroid Prime: Blast Ball

McoobabWATP

If retro had shown off prime iv and then this was shown as a 3ds companion game I don't think there'd be many complaints.same as if it was a new ip.the problem is much of what nintendo put out just now Is so linear that people want stuff like metroid or zelda to offer something different, metroid was always known for being non-linear (which was one of the biggest criticisisms of other m)and multiplayer is generally such a controlled environment that people are naturally gonna feel like it's betraying the series.that said I think the game has potential, who knows maybe it's in 2016 because they wanted tae gauge reaction to the prime title and to see whether they should rebrand it as something new.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digital Event?

McoobabWATP

@FLUX_CAPACITOR maybe I should rephrase that to "supporting the wii u to a significant degree".there weren't several new wii u games announced there were 2,tennis and a board game.those are not the sort of games people were expecting if nintendo were still fully dedicated to the console, many were probably hoping for action/adventure or a 3d platformer that doesn't play like a 2d one ala 3d world.im not saying those games will be bad,but given there's already 2 party games it doesn't instill confidence that the wii u will be around for all that much longer after zelda is released at least tennis helps the lack of sports games.frankly the 3ds had a much better showing paper jam and fire emblem impressed many and personally I think federation force and coop zelda will be lots of fun.nintendo are coming across as tho they have moved most of r&d to the nx and mobile,if the company aren't completey invested in the current product how do they expect the public to bother with it?
And I'm hardly despairing about star fox.i think the game looks solid,I never said anything about the graphics,i was merely making a point that if there's not online play a lot of folk won't see it as offering as much value as mario kart ,smash even splatoon ,if it's a short game there'll be a bunch of preowned copies on the shelves within a month online would help in that aspect.such is the way of the modern gamer

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digital Event?

McoobabWATP

@FLUX_CAPACITOR most of those were games announced over a year ago tho.people were looking for a sign nintendo would keep supporting the wii u beyond what was already announced and the 2 new games shown for it don't exactly suggest they do.they look relatively quick to make and that would normally be ok but with the drought of games on wii u people expect the games that actually do turn up on the console to look like they've had an awful lot of effort put in,the animal crossing one in particular looks a bit thin, even star fox seems a bit bare bones the lack of online play (at this point at least) already diminishes it's replayability compared to other nintendo games .

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digital Event?

McoobabWATP

@MitchVogel normally I'd agree but right now the message seems to be "buy a nintendo console and if it sells well you'll get your beloved ip if not here have some spin offs".im not saying those games will be bad but at this point nintendo really had to keep the faithful happy so they can count on them to look forward to the nx.i think a lot of confidence was damaged with this presentation.people don't want to wait till the end of a consoles lifespan for a proper zelda or miss a gen here n there for an ip (proper metroid f-zero etc).times have changed and people like being able to pick up a couple of retail games a month (a lot of folk are still ignorant of indies and eshop games) even if they have to trade in old ones not a couple of games a year and unless you own both bits of hardware which not everyone does then nintendo really aren't offering enough nor are they offering any indication of changing for the better.

Re: Nintendo's E3 'Roadmap' Infographic Shows Off Upcoming Releases on Wii U and 3DS

McoobabWATP

When you need to stick just dance and 3 toys to life games on your infographic it should really be a wakeup call.the problem is the majority still don't go out of their way for indie games if it's not at retail it doesn't exist and that will really hurt nintendo.i suppose I should be glad rangers have been utter mince for the last few years disappointment like that helps keep perspective.

Re: Don't Worry, The Legend of Zelda is Still Coming to Wii U

McoobabWATP

I don't think they can afford to keep zelda till next holiday season look at the difference in sales between skyward sword and twilight princess.all the people waiting for this will have got fed up with the drought by then at least the wii had a steady stream of games for a few years at first.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo's E3 Digital Event Brought Franchises We Wanted, But Not The Blockbusters

McoobabWATP

Just watched a repeat of the stream after getting in from work an hour ago.Funny how much complaining there had been in recent months about nintendo not caring about the 3ds anymore then most of the e3 games shown are for the handheld.the mario rpg mashup looks fun and i think federation force could be enjoyable. But did they really need to devote so much time to animal crossing? They probably should've kept the smash stuff for this though.
And where the hell are retro? (And tantalus big port too while were at it)
