I believe I played the demo and it felt a bit clunky and cheap...hopefully it ends up being a good game though. Gameplay-wise, this trailer reminded me more of the Willow arcade than Castlevania.
@arrmixer There have been a few. The War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron games were pretty good and I'd say "Transformers Prime: The Game" on DS/Wii/WiiU is somewhat of a hidden gem - terribly short, but pretty well put together.
"Transformers: Animated" on DS was a good "Lost Vikings" clone.
And "Transformers" on PS2 (the one based on the TF Armada series) was great as well.
And there was also a previous turn-based title on mobile phones - Transformers G1 Awakening that was pretty addicting and I quite enjoyed it.
Well...it looks like a nice, if pricey CE. Skipped the previous one regretably, so I'll be skipping this one as well and just go for the standard edition.
@Oncie, I never said it was challenging. I quoted the "boring and unfair". And it is boring. While HK has a very nice artstyle, there were very few rooms in the game that I found interesting.
As for unfair - there were a few areas, which feature downright cheap enemy placement. An early area where the exploding enemies appear (for the first time I believe) comes to mind.
It's not a terrible game, by any means, but the praise it's getting makes it sound like it's one of the best Metroidvanias out there when it really isn't.
To be honest "Boring and unfair level design" kind of goes for "Hollow Knight" as well. I can't, for the life of me, understand why that game gets so much praise, when it's slightly above-average at best...
Did we really need this?! Don't get me wrong, I like the show, I probably like it better than the movies themselves and the soundtrack is amazing, but a game is not something I expected or wanted. I'm all for more beat 'em ups, but in all honesty, this looks like a bad mobile game...An easy pass for me...Now where's that Season 3...
Okay, so, a particular UK retailer has this edition on pre-order for 21.95 GBP...at that price, I'm seriously getting worried this might be a code-in-a-box thing...Are we sure we're getting a cartridge?
Also, confirmed, Season 1 and 2 DLC is included. Lauren is the ONLY season 3 character included, RJ and Scorpina are not, which is pretty lame.
So glad I didn't get the Limited Run edition. I'd already bought the game (which wasn't as good at launch)...yet I really wanted to have it physical editon, as I'm a hardcore Power Rangers fan.
Now this gives me a chance at a much more reasonable price, and if it already comes with the Season 3 pass, so much the better.
I've been hyped for this one for a long time now, but will have to patiently hold out for a bit...I think it's a serious contender to get a physical release a bit down the line.
While I loved Ys VIII on Switch and am definitely jumping on IX, this doesn't look like my type of game. Will have to look more into it before I get excited.
Funny, I just had a Gunvolt marathon this week, as I'd previously only played the first game and the two "Mighty Gunvolts".
In all honesty, while I was thrilled with it when it came out on the 3DS, replaying it now on the Switch...the first game has not aged well and leaves a lot to be desired, especially in terms of level design - something that the second game improves slightly. Though the new difficulty settings were welcome, these two are still mostly meant for score-hunters it seems.
"Luminous Avenger iX" was a whole different story though - easily the best out of the bunch, with vastly improved level design and streamlined mechanics.
Looking forward to both this and "Curse of the Moon 2", though Bloodstained is definitely higher on my list.
YES!!! I'm thrilled we're getting it! "Ys VIII" was my first Ys game, but I absolutely loved every minute of it (liked it much better than XC2), so I'm very happy to hear we're getting IX as well!
Any fan of this game should also check out "Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Messa" via emulation. It's based on the comic and cartoon by Ryan Brown (who worked on TMNT) and is once again made by Konami. That game and Mystic Warriors are probably as close as you'll get to a Sunset Riders sequel.
Imported the standard physical edition from Japan over a year ago, so I'm mostly good. To be honest, I'm not in love with these games, but I do thing Darius Gaiden was worth it for sure. When Strictly Limited announced the physical editions, I really wanted to snag the CE, mostly for the CDs and artbook, but it was just too expensive. I only ordered the standard console collection, to go along with the JP release of the arcade games.
These are the games that made me love RPGs, a genre I'd mostly stay away from. Playing the first XC on the Wii is a summer I'll never forget! Then the hype and anticipation for XCX - ever since the first trailer that sent absoulte chills down my spine, I knew that'd be a Day 1 game. Little did I know that finding it would turn into a quest itself. And they, getting it and having to keep it sealed on the shelf for 6 months, until I wrapped up my final semester at university so I can really immerse myself in it.
XC2, was also a day-1 purchase, but unfortunately, it left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. While the gameplay and the environments were as beautiful as ever, I really didn't enjoy the humour and a lot of the character designs, which easily made it the weakest game of the bunch for me. Not bad by any means, just not exactly what I was hoping for. But I did get Torna too and liked it a lot, for the most part.
My CE of the Definitive Edition should finally be here tomorrow and I cannot wait to revisit Shulk and friends - first time I'll ever be replaying a game that's THIS long. But won't be the last if they do port over XCX to the Switch, as that one was my favourite!
I'd totally get the Batman games all over again if it's a cart and not download codes. Though what I'd like even more is for Tecmo to finally bring out the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy.
Cannot wait for my CE!! This is the game that made me start liking RPGs! It's gonna take an extra week or so for the middle-man service from the UK to get it to me, but better have a secure copy and wait a bit than risk it with the only local retailer that had pre-orders up for like...a few hours.
Playing the original on Wii back in 2013-2014 was one of the best gaming experiences (and summers) I'd had.
I love the games, but come on?! Separate releases at $35 each?! That's a terrible decision...
I love the CE, don't get me wrong (though I'd have preferred an artbook instead of the NES carts, even though I love their cover art) and the CDs should've definitely been in jewelcases instead of cardboard sleeves...
Much as I love these two games, I believe this will be a skip from me. I'll just get the vinyl boxset whenever BigWax release it in Europe.
Unless it's both games in a single pack, I'll skip it.
Mind you, it could also be for a vinyl release of the OST - BraveWave confirmed one is coming soon and LR are the US distributors of most BraveWave releases.
Looks very "Curse of the Moon"-ish...and that tower at the end is straight out of "Ninja Gaiden II". I won't be backing the KS, but if it releases and ends up playing as good as it looks, I'll definitely buy it.
Thank you! I just contacted Limited Run about cancelling and will pre-order the standard edition from Signature instead. I live in Europe, so not only does it end up being slightly cheaper than LR's, but I also get a cover I like better, a mini-artbook and a keychain...not to mention an earlier release, as I highly doubt LR's is gonna ship in June or July...
Dang it...and I just ordered the standard Limited Run edition yesterday...would've gone with this instead, as I like the cover better. I really hate all this "limited" crap...
Oh well, next time I'll wait for the very last minute, I guess...
I already own them on vinyl, but those cassettes are really tempting, as I actually still listen to my cassettes and it's a more "retro" package than the CDs. I'd be tempted by those as well, but frankly, a CD I can easily burn and I'm not a fan of digipaks.
I still keep the huge map me and my brother made for the pirate NES port of the SNES "Jurassic Park" game. We had all the dinos, collectibles, etc marked too, as well as maps for all the buildings in the game. Good times!

@Oncie I can no-death-run Ninja Gaiden. I'm pretty darn skilled.
Re: Rumour: A New Ninja Gaiden Trilogy Could Be Coming To Switch Next Year
YES! OH, GOD, YES!! I've been BEGGING for this since Day 1 of the Switch!
I hope they're all physical. I'm willing to pay full price for each of these, as long as they're physical!
