Ooh, Darius Twin was my jam on SNES back in the day. Might have to pick this up.
I already got the arcade collection from import but I am gonna get the console collection for sure. Glad they are finally giving it a western digital release, I hope the Space Invaders collection does the same.
What’s the better purchase if we only do one?
Ugh. I have a fatal weakness for classic shmups. Goodbye money.
The only one of these I played back in the day was Darius Twin on SNES. The graphics were amazing, but other than that, I wasn't too impressed. There was bad slowdown (which I would soon learn would be a common issue on the system) and the enemies flew in very simple patterns. I remembered thinking Gaiarus on the Genesis was much better, but brutally hard.
What happened to the Gameboy game that they had as an amazon exclusive preorder bonus in Japan? I don't see it mentioned anywhere on here, and the only reason why I own DBFZ and SamSho is because of their preorder bonuses. I plan on getting these collections at some point anyway, but if I can get that game in some way, I'll do what I need to to get it.
Wow three The Outer World's ads on this one page! The almighty dollar corrupts all
Darius 2 Dual Screen blew my mind.
I ordered the arcade collection from Strictly Limited. Looking forward to getting that. I have the PC Engine games on the mini as well, so not sure I need all those console versions. We will see. Maybe on sale.
I worry about the price (as it been announced yet?), but the series is amazing.
Will be adding them when they're heavily discounted, yes.
Imported the standard physical edition from Japan over a year ago, so I'm mostly good. To be honest, I'm not in love with these games, but I do thing Darius Gaiden was worth it for sure. When Strictly Limited announced the physical editions, I really wanted to snag the CE, mostly for the CDs and artbook, but it was just too expensive. I only ordered the standard console collection, to go along with the JP release of the arcade games.
@AG_Awesome
If you can only pick one, get the Arcade edition. It has Darius Gaiden which is the highlight of the collection. It also has the best versions of Darius 2/Sagaia.
The 2 SNES games (Twin and Force) are generally considered the weakest entries in the series, and i agree with this common opinion.
That's great they're including the Japanese versions of the games, often there are differences in regional releases so it's nice to have the choice to play the version I had years ago.
I wish Nintendo would do the same with the NES and SNES apps on the Switch so I could play the Japanese releases of some games.
Oh baby!! I’m all over these 2 Darius collections!! I’m also waiting forever for my 2 Darius Collections from SL, along with my copy of Bubble Bobble 4 Friends! But this is great news in Darius finally coming west! Now where’s the Space Invaders Collection??? 😃
Is there any news on the follow up collection to this? Really hope we see G Darius.
No Saturn version on the console pack seems like a miss imo.
Loved that and 2 on the snes.
I wish they'd not double up on stuff. I get that it's a cash grab but geez; I don't need an english and jp version.
edit: welp I'm dumb. the Saturn version is in the arcade pack. Boo.
@AG_Awesome console. It gives you 6 games instead of four.
In the end though you should weigh if you like arcade or console better and choose that way. Arcade is usually a more difficult version for any game but is the actual original versions
I'll wait for a LR edition and get physical. The price alone for the digital will not be worth it to me. If I am going to pay that much then it'll have to be physical.
@AG_Awesome Both packages are good but I'd recommend arcade. Darius Gaiden is the highlight of the series and it's the half that got the most T&A in term of extra features.
@Dirty0814 The console versions is really only 5 games (Darius Alpha is just a boss rush mode of Darius Plus) and there's really no reason to play Master System Darius II over the genesis version beside nostalgia. On the arcade collection, the "Sagaia" and "Sagaia version 2" variants of Darius II are very different from the base game so you get bang for your bucks than it appears.
@Milenko No, they've been patched in the Japanese release for months.
@Glowsquid they are still different versions of the game. In the end it still has more games even by your logic. Arcade versions are also harder, that goes for almost every game out there. Which one to get is a decision made pretty much by how many games do you want and difficulty because honestly each one is a rehash of each other other than the screens between console versions and arcade.
Me I'll wait for a physical is version or until it is at least $14.99 or less eShop. If it's $60 bucks eshop like the Japanese release then I'll probably hard pass. I have my Genesis and snes version on my consoles to pass the time.
@Milenko I remember reading about an amazon Japan version of Cosmic Collection Special Edition that additionally included the Game Boy Sagaia, but that was it.
(a separate game from the others. I gave it a quick try on my real GBC which I have an official Taito GB multicart release and it seemed a decent game for a GB game.)
No mention of the price.
That's really a deciding factor.
Is it going to be reasonable or something really gouging like the Japanese Special Edition?
@BulkSlash You can play the Japanese versions of all the NES and SNES games. Just create a Japanese account and log into the eShop with it, you can download the NES and SNES apps for free there. Then when you launch them, sign in with your main account that has Nintendo Online subscription.
