There's a few titles missing here it seems - like TMNT: Arcade Attack on DS, for example.
Anyway, TMNT 3: The Manhattan Project is in my Top 5 games of all time, so an easy pick for me as the best of the bunch. But frankly, most TMNT games are above-average to great.
I remember playing this one as a kid, not knowing what I was getting myself into. It was actually a pretty fun game, though I did feel uncomfortable every time I completed a "world" and got to see my...ehem..."prize"....
I realize I'm in the minority here, but I will never understand the praise "Hollow Knight" gets. Sure, it's overall rather lovely presentation-wise and has a certain feel of serenity to it at certain points. The enemy placement, however, can be downright maddening at times and it features probably the worst map layout I've ever experienced in a Metroidvania...I absolutely hated backtracking in this game.
That being said, I am mildly curious about the sequel, simply because I hope they've improved on the elements I had problems with.
If I'm not taking into account santimental value, my most prized possesions would probably be:
A CIB copy of "MUSHA" for the Genesis, I picked it up for 5 bucks some 12 years ago
Loose PAL carts of "Megaman: The Wily Wars" for the Mega Drive and "Megaman 7" for the SNES - paid about $10 each some years ago
Working 32X and Mega CD 2 (both quite a rarity where I live, I know of only one other collector in my country who owns a 32X) - got them for $20 each some years ago.
Japanese copy of "TMNT: Turtles in Time" for the Super Famicom I got for about 800 yen 3 years ago.
As for a super prized gaming-related item that's not a game - the "Ninja Gaiden II" Arranged Soundtrack CD - released only in Japan in 1990, even though I've had a rip of it for ages, I'd always really wanted to get the actual CD. Naturally though, it goes for hundreds online. Then, in 2019, I was able to go to Japan and it was top of my list for items that "I'd love to find, but I just won't run into in the wild"...and then one day, I actually found it at a "Mandarake", just sitting there in the front window display case. I mustered up the courage to use my poor Japanese to ask for it - it was around $90 dollars and while it was missing the OBI, it still had the original sticker sheet and was the cheapest I'd ever seen it for all these years of trying to obtain one. It's still quite a lot to pay for a CD, but I knew I'd regret it all my life if I didn't get it, so I did and it's still one of my favourite finds!
Considering that Ecco is one of my all-time favourite games and I fancy myself quite decent at it (and stuff like Ninja Gaiden)...this might be kinda tempting
My local retailer where I've pre-ordered it had it listed for September 30th...might've been a slip of the keyboard! Can't wait! Even though I own actual physical copies of all of these for their respective systems (sans the arcades), I'm thrilled to see this get released! Still debating on importing the CE, while my sister's still in Canada...I really want that artbook though!
@zippu95 You'll have to check which country closest to you has a store, what countries they ship to and potentially use that. I live in Bulgaria and I've redeemed "My Nintendo Store" rewards (like the Metroid Dread pins for example) through the German store. Hoping to do the same with XC3.
Good thing I pre-ordered with my local retailer as well. Hopefully, I'll be able to get their pre-order bonuses (poster, stickers and post-cards) and then get the CE bonus content only in September (even though I'm not getting the game from their store...I don't see anything saying you'd be able to get the CE contents only if you've bought the game itself from My Nintendo).
But this has truly been a ***** show and shows how ill-prepared Nintendo was for moving the game from its September slot to July...
Just got the following e-mail from the German My Nintendo Store (TLDR: NO CEs for Europe in July. They will launch in September and in order for us to be able to play the game at launch, they will also sell the CE contents with NO game included at a discounted price)
Thank you for registering your interest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Collector's Edition on My Nintendo Store.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen logistical issues, we are unable to accept pre-orders for the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Collector's Edition prior to the game's release on July 29th. We apologize for the resulting inconvenience.
To give our customers the flexibility to purchase and play the game when it's released, we are now offering the Collector's Edition add-on content (softcover concept artbook, steel case, and outer box) to purchase separately for a price that reflects the game Xenoblade Chronicles 3 does not include.
This means you can buy the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 game when it releases on July 29th and have the opportunity to pre-order the Collector's Edition content on My Nintendo Store later in September. Since you have already registered your interest, you will continue to receive updates about this product and will be notified as soon as pre-orders open in September.
Thank you for your understanding and please look forward to the next updates in the coming months.
@Pillowpants The voice clip is lifted directly from the movie, so I suppose it's placeholder. I'm a huge RoboCop fan, but don't dare have high hopes for this. It definitely has potential though. Hope it's better than the FPS game Titus put out (their GBC version actually wasn't bad).
My only (minor) gripe with the OST is that none of the tracks have a voice going "HEY!" like in the old Konami TMNT games. Otherwise, I loved everything about the game start to finish!
I hope they do the new story on a separate cart like Torna and have a code for the rest of the stuff. Shame that it's more paid DLC though. I didn't watch the Direct carefully, as I didn't want to spoil myself. I just wanted to make sure I don't potentially miss out on an EU drop of the CE.
The single-credit thing sounds like a pretty terrible decision to me. If I want challenge, I can just choose to not use any credits. However, I like to have the freedom to replay beat 'em ups and other arcade-like titles leisurely, without having to be too careful in planning my moves and item collection...
Will probably pick it up when it hits deep discount.
Aaaaaaand once again, the sountrack is locked behind a $200 edition full of fluff...I guess I'll just go with the standard release (or hope for a European release like SOR4). Honestly, I like the Cowabunga Collection's SE much better than what LR are offering...
Expecting the same thing in Europe and that makes me frightened...poor decision to make in a My Nintendo Exclusive, shame for it to not have a soundtrack and the early release/shipping CE items later is just the cherry on top. Baffling...
It's a darn shame they didn't put them on the first collection, as they could've easily done so. Hopefully, the LR edition will arrive before this releases, so I can decide whether I want to invest in a second collection as well...
Those are the 87 Classic Collection Turtles with new headsculpts and a ton of blackwash...neither do the sculpts any favours. They looked great when they were based on the cartoon. Mikey's new head isn't too bad - it's very Mirage-like, but there's something off about Leo...might be the pose though.
So same thing as in Japan...I don't mind waiting, as long as they don't ask me to pay shipping twice, since I'll have to import this. Hopefully, I won't miss the pre-order window.
Still, a baffling decision to make this an exclusive, when it wasn't for the previous games...I still don't see why exactly they pushed forward when they clearly aren't ready for it, but hopefully, it won't affect the game itself.
I never understood the hate for "Other M". Say what you will about the way it presented Samus, as a game, it was solid and I had fun with it from start to finish. And I don't take that lightly, as "Metroid" is my favourite Nintendo franchise. I wasn't 100% on board with the PTSD and how it was presented, but it definitely didn't send me into a raging frenzy like most people. Speaking from the point of view of someone who's a professional translator, a lot of the issues in the writing and delivery I think are actually a result of clunky translation more than anything else. Sentence structures and constructions which might work in Japanese, simply don't in English. And you end up needing padding from time to time. And in Other M's case, the padding resulted in too much repetition.
@Angelic_Lapras_King Same here. Especially since, it would appear, the European SE's artbook will actually be softcover like for the previous two games. But no CD was shown, which is incredibly disappointing.
I just hope it won't be locked to My Nintendo in Europe as well. I'd have to import it, probably either from the UK (which is gonna be a pain) or Germany...
God, the way they're going all out on this, you'd swear there was a hardcore fan behind it all. I love it! The first movie was great and I'm definitely hyped for the sequel.
No visible issues on mine, which I got 5 months after launch. Though the drift has become quite apparent over the past year. And I did send both joycons for repair while the console was still in warranty (the "sideways" shoulder buttons on both stopped working within a week of each other). The console itself though and the dock I have no issues with.
Frankly, MOST of these are really good, with the exception of Forever, Beyond and Begins, though they have at least some redeeming qualities as well.
My favourites would be all the Sunsoft titles ("Batman" was the first NES game I ever got), "Adventures of Batman & Robin" on SNES (my PAL CIB copy is one of my holy grails) and "Batman: Vengeance" (such an underrated game. The GBA port isn't bad at all either and features a playable Robin and apperances by Nightwing as well, unlike the main version).
Both "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" titles are also fantastic!
It's cheap, so I was considering picking it up, but I might just pick up The Ninja Warriors on the eShop. If anything, seeing Chack 'n' Pop again brings about nightmares of trying to play it on the Famicom as a kid and failing miserably...
@EarthboundBenjy, well, 3rd Strike does have online features in the 30th Anniversary Collection as well. I guess they didn't want to have repeating titles (though I guess some people might see Hyper SFII as repetition). Speaking of Hyper SF2, I wonder if it'll come with all the extras it originally had, like the censored version of the anime movie...
I was considering picking up Cyberbots on the Capcom Stadium thingy, but I'll just hold out for this collection instead. A bit too Darkstalkers-heavy for my tastes, but I'm certain other people will be quite happy with that!
@dusterfalcon Everyone's mileage may vary. I can beat Ninja Gaiden without dying nearly as much as I did in Cyber Shadow...but, GOD, that was a great game.
I played both games on the Wii, while my brother played the PC versions. I was completely fine with the games on Wii. The first one was uglier, yes, but it had darn good motion controls and I loved every minute of them! The collection likely won't be a "complete" package anyway, since it was missing the "Origins" titles on other platforms. I'm also not against a Doom-like release, where part of the game is on a cart and the rest is a download. I just don't want codes-in-a-box. "Asylum" and "City" can fit on a single cart (based on PC requirements for the games) and there's leftover space for basic data for "Knight" (with the rest being a download), if they go for a 32GB cartridge.
I hope it's all on cart with no downloads! That would make it a Day 1 Purchase. I never got the Wii U versions of City and Origins, since I had them on PC, but I'll definitely bite here if it's an all-physical release.
