Yeah, a new demo, showcasing all the changes would be a good idea. I really want to like the game, but I'm not willing to buy it at launch based on the previous demo and following gameplay videos.
@sanderev I don't know about you, but no, reading isn't hard for people with two Master's degrees. So you can take your sarcasm somewhere else, thank you.
The Nintendo site, unlike the eShop, doesn't take all types of debit cards. I've had a Visa Electron I've used on the eShop for years being rejected at least twice by the Nintendo website. Same thing has happened to a Mastercard as well. Out of 3 cards I've tried, only one was accepted the website system and it's not the one I prefer using for online purchases.
Annoying and stupid...my country doesn't even sell eShop cards. I've ALWAYS been paying via my debit card. I agree, it does look like the 3DS and the Wii U are being axed...
What I don't understand is, will I be able to buy games through a PC by using my card?
@YANDMAN All the stores I found it at in Japan had it for a bit over 5000 yen, most online retailers also have it at around 50$, not 30.
I did pick it up recently, as I had to prioritize other games while in Japan, but I am extremely pissed off at how the Collector's Edition comes with twice as many games, but costs 5 times as much due to things that I'm honestly not interested in...I just wanted all the games, but I wasn't willing to pay an extra 200$ for them. Had they priced it at 80$ and included the console games as well I'd been happy.
I own most Nintendo systems, except the Virtual Boy (a multiples of some of the others)...the only system I've EVER had a problem with and had to send it for repairs was the Switch - the SR and SL buttons on both my joy-cons died. No other system has had any issues - no broken hinges, no dead fuses, no disc reading problems, nothing.
The thing that comes closest is that when I bought my used PAL SNES, the Power Supply had a terribly bent cable that didn't work, as it'd split in one place and I had to cut it short to fix it. That, however, is a problem with how the previous owner had treated it.
My other complaint is that my DS Lite (coral blue, I believe, is the colour) gets waaaaaay too dirty in the edges and is a pain to clean up...
So bottom line, out of over 15 systems, only the Switch has had faults.
I went to Japan for the second time in June of this year and hit up all these places (though I'd been to at least half of them during my first trip back in 2015). I gotta admit, Trader seemed to have the best "good inventory at good prices" ratio. The prices in Retro Game Camp had increased significantly. BookOff! had some good deals - I snagged "TMNT Turtles in Time" for only 950 yen when most other stores had it at 4000-5000. "Super Potato" had some good stuff too - I grabbed "Kamen Rider" on the Super Famicom which was high on my "to buy" list. My only regret is not picking up "Tokkyu Shirei Solbrain"...again...but at least I did find "Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger".
I was really considering a Twin Famicom from Trader, but didn't pull the trigger...now I kinda regret it.
@Alucard83 I started playing it on Switch yesterday (picked the physical up at a discount from a local retailer) and encountered the same issue only once - an enemy dropped a bag and it just stood there, I couldn't pick it up.
More annoying was that the game crashed when I tried to read a book off a bookshelf - lost about 15 minutes of progress and 3 new shards I'd acquired, which was annoying. Later, I saved my game and tried the same bookshelf and it didn't crash this time.
I've only experienced slowdown ONCE and very briefly. However, you can't hide the fact that the textures on everyone but Miriam look HORRENDOUS during dialogue scenes. Like...PSP levels of graphics. Everything looks fine otherwise, I'd say.
The game plays well enough and I'm certainly enjoying it a lot, but yeah, a patch fixing some of the issues would be most welcome.
The pre-order price was only 5 bucks, so I thought I'd give them a chance. At 2.50 a pop it seemed like a great deal and I'm a sucker for Collections. Can't wait to actually try them out
So...that's what? The fourth Switch release of these?
Just as I picked up "Psikyo Collection" 1 and 2 (and just recently vol.3), they released "Psikyo Shooting Library" vol.1 and 2 which combined the games from those 3 releases into two new ones. Now this appears to be a release of those, only with extra goodies, such as soundtracks...which I'd love to have, but yeah, not double-dipping on those alone.
Depending on the price, I might try and sell my 3 volumes and get these later on. But otherwise, I'm just gonna have to do without the soundtracks.
I'm amazed we're getting "Vice: Project Doom"! It's a great game with a definite Natsume feel and a pinch of Ninja Gaiden and Spy Hunter. Great choice!
I love the fact that Zedd's finally in the game, but...what's up with his voice?! Doesn't even sound REMOTELY like Zedd. Neither him, nor the Putties.
Also, I'm still pissed off at nWay for going "No, we won't ever do a physical of the game" and then the Limited Run showing up.
Also, while the game still plays great, matchmaking has become terrible - I used to be able to get so many matches and now I'm lucky if I connect to even one. And we still need more than the 5 stages we have...
My left one used to drift too. Then I had to send both my Joycons for repair, as the SR and SL buttons stopped working (and the lights on one of the Joycons, thankfully they were still under warranty).
Since they were fixed for the buttons, I've had no drifting issues.
I'm...confused...are these ports or are they re-issues? For example, will the NES games be on NES carts? These will probably be terribly overpriced, but we might see some neat editions. I played the crap out of a lot of these back in the day, especially ESB on NES.
This is what I like to see in CEs - nice, big artbooks! A soundtrack CD would've also been nice, but this is still neat and I will probably be picking it up.
I'm still not sold...looks better than the demo, but that killed so much of the hype for me, I'm kinda wary... I do hope it ends up being great though!
@Cheez I don't know how to put it exactly...I guess I wasn't "really feeling it" (see what I did there ). The story didn't really grab me. You get your main goal early on and then you get so side-tracked it takes what...30-40 hours to get the story back to reaching the World Tree? It's probably typical for JRPGs, but I'm not really an RPG guy. The humour really threw me off as well. The "Lin is gonna cook Tatsu" running gag in XCX was great! But the oversexualization of XC2 and things like giant Maid robots really hurt the overall experience for me. It wasn't until the very end that the story REALLY grabbed me.
XCX's exploration worked PERFECTLY for me, because that's what I like about these games so much! It feels like I'm on vacation to some far off land! That, and I am an absolute sucker for Mechs. But I agree with you on the problems that it presented where you'd find something important, but an event there wouldn't be triggered until the game decides you're far enough into the story. And I agree that it does have strong beats here and there but that it needed more scripted sequences overall.
While XCX is my favourite in the series so far, the story of the first game is easily the best of the bunch.
When it comes to Switch RPGs, I even think that Ys VIII was a ton better than XC2. It was my first Ys game and I picked it up exactly because it looked very Xenoblade-ish and I ended up enjoying it much more than both the main XC2 and Torna.
@Blister The Torna episode is okay. It's about 20 hours long, but that's really padded out. The actual story would've been a couple of hours less had it not been for some pretty dull mandatory quests towards the end. Still worth picking up though, for sure!
@Kochambra I absolutely agree with the "playing in long sessions" thing. Back when XCX came out, I'd been hyped for it since the announcement trailer and couldn't WAIT to play it. So 2 years or so later, it turned out that NONE of the stores in my country actually carried it, but fortunately, I went to visit my brother for Christmas that December and bought it in Poland. And you know what happened? It stayed sealed on my shelf for 6 months!! It was my final year of my BA at university and I was like "No, this games deserves my full attention! Not gonna play it until after the final exams"...and yeah, 6 months later I rush home from my final exam and was like "Nobody bother me for the next few weeks!!". Fortunately, people were mostly OK with me occupying the TV for up to 15 hours a day
I did the same thing with the first XC, where I'd do all-night sessions of it, as I played it over the summer vacation. And pretty much the same thing happened with XC2, since I already knew that waiting another month or two will be worth it, so I can fully immerse myself in it.
@MadMaestroNole I'll take it! I'll even take a port of XCX!! I loved the ever loving crap out of that game!! I sooooooo want a sequel to that!!
XC2, while I liked it, to me is definitely the worst in the series in terms of character designs and overall plot and feeling, but I liked the streamlining of some gameplay features. My least favourite in the series, but still a great game nonetheless.
@Heavyarms55 Same here. My best friend couldn't get enough of the anime. Not sure if he's still into it, but I suppose it might end up being yet another reason for him to get a switch.
I bought the first one on the 3DS when it was really down it price...like less than 2 pounds, I think...I got through most of it but at some point it just got boring and I never finished it so this is an easy pass for me.
I don't know about that "clearly superior" part. I've always thought the 3 button controller is much better. "Ranger X" and "Street Fighter II" aside, I wouldn't even go near a 6-button pad if I had the option to use the 3-button one.
The Double Dragon one looks better than the cartoon we ended up with. Metroid also doesn't look bad at all in terms of art, but yeah, that gender swap is a no-no.
I'm a simple guy - I see giant robots, I press "Like"!.
Looks quite nice and I'm definitely up for giving it a shot, but I'm growing wary - Daemon X Machina was my most anticipated game for the year and well...the demo killed pretty much any hype I had for it. I really didn't like it...
I guess I'd like something more Zone of the Enders-ish or something akin to the Skell gameplay in Xenoblade X.
To our developers, it stands for "Developers' System," since we believe it gives game creators brand new tools which will lead to more innovative games for the world's players.
It can also stand for "Dual Screen." "
I felt the same way when I noticed how they've snuck "DS" in the titles of so many games - "Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword", "Contra Dual Spirits", "Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow", etc...
My local retailer still has a Septemer 17th date... Probably will be corrected soon. Definitely going Physical for this one, especially since I got the Limited Run of "Curse of the Moon". Hopefully it will be at least as good as that one. Graphics seem to be mostly improved, though I still wish it'd have been 2D.
Not really impressed with it, but depending on the price I might pick it up at some point... I really wish Tecmo would just port the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy to Switch already...Heck, I'm even willing to buy them as stand-alone full-priced releases!!
My first one was "Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers" - I borrowed it from my sister's boyfriend who was visiting when I got my Switch for my birthday. Then I went straight to the eShop and got "Mighty Gunvolt Burst" and I already owned "Cave Story+", as I'd bought the launch edition with manual and CD before even getting a Switch as I got a really good deal on it.

ESB on NES is actually pretty neat. Tough as nails, but not a bad game at all. Not sure how the GB port plays, I've only tried it once.
The Shadows CE could've come with so much more though, considering Shadows was such a huge project - comics, novels, audio-dramas...
