Love Castlevania, but sad that Konami doesn't seem interested in making a new one (unless it's on a smartphone)? Had your fill of the excellent Bloodstained titles currently available on Nintendo's console? Then you might be interested to learn that PixelHeart is bringing Migami Games' Wallachia: Reign of Dracula to the Nintendo Switch later this year. If you're a keen fan of the Castlevania lineage then you might recognise Migami's name from the unofficial fangames it has produced over the years.
Described as "a retro-style action and shooting game inspired by great video game classics such as the famous Castlevania," Wallachia: Reign Of Dracula certainly shares a lot of similarities with Konami's fang-tastic franchise, notwithstanding the fact that it shares the same main antagonist. There's a level that looks a lot like the clock tower stages seen in many Castlevania titles, and a stage which takes place on a horse-drawn carriage – just like the opening segment of Dracula X: Rondo of Blood.
Furthermore, Migami – which has the unauthorised fangames Castlevania The Lecarde Chronicles 1 & 2 on its résumé – has enlisted the vocal talents of Robert Belgrade, who famously voiced Alucard in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
For bonus Castlevania linkage, you'll notice that Miriam from Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night makes a cameo appearance in the trailer – which, if it's legit, is one of the coolest crossovers we've seen in a while.
Wallachia: Reign Of Dracula currently has a "very positive" review average of 9/10 on Steam, which bodes well. Let us know if you'll be scratching your Castlevania itch with this one later this year.

What the two curse of the moon games don't count?
This looks really good, definitely interested.
I have played this guys Castlevania Lecarde Chronicles games. They are awesome.
Robert Belgrade also voices Alucard in Lecarde Chronicles 2.
And he alone makes his graphics and writes the code of the games.
But you should also mention that the games in not like Castlevania but more like Contra (with the aesthetic of Castlevania)
I hope someday my game is reviewed on Nintendo Life as well
Looks more like the Megadrive Alisia Dragoon than Castlevania
Game looks good but I do wonder if the soundtrack can come even close to the quality of Castlevania? That's like 50% of the reason why those games are so good. The generic beat in the trailer doesn't inspire much confidence.
@Zeldafan79 apparently not. 3 bloodstained games have been released, all of them are castlevaniaesque to a fault.
@aznable @Zeldafan79 That's a good point - I've amended the piece to reflect that.
Okay, this has caught my eye too now.
It's also orderable from Pixelheart.eu which is a French publisher. This will be far cheaper than ordering from Play-asia.

Megadriveesque showings!!! Looks dated as hell. Not interested.
People looking for Castlevaniaesque games might give Odallus a go.
Thanks for the reminder on this one. It looks pretty good.
@Ratking I would argue that even Bloodstained isn't really a close match for Castlevania in terms of theme... I mean, this game actually has Dracula in it, for starters. And Castlevania Collection doesn't feature a "new" Castlevania, just old ones.
Looks good that game
@Zuljaras Agreed on the Contra comparison. Too much fast twitch shooting in the video for my tastes.
And this doesn’t look to even compare to Bloodstained at all, which I recently picked up for the first time and have not found a single issue with! It’s an amazing game and everyone should have that in their collection for sure.
I’ll pass on this one.
Hey, wait wait! Did anyone else see Miriam from Bloodstained in the trailer? At a few clips the player character wasn't the main character woman from cover, it was Miriam
Do they mention anything about a crossover?
This look great hope it gets a proper release on cart 😊
@Bobb
Hold on, yeah that is unmistakably Miriam, the entire attire is an exact match.
Did this project happen to start off as a Bloodstained fan game before becoming the commercial product Wallachia, or did they stick an alternate costume/player sprite in there?
Hopefully with ArtPlay's permission.
Tried Bloodstained on GamePass and didn’t get the love for it. Movement was so slow and the platforming felt off.
Hey @Anti-Matter I have found this game from Playnasia!
@ShaiHulud That’s an amazing game
@HobbitGamer
Please do not tag my name for this rated 18+ game.
@Zuljaras Sounds good. Are you actually making a game right now? If so, what kind of game?
As soon as I saw the screenshot of the guy on the horse carriage fighting an enemy I got instant Rondo of Blood opening flashbacks lol
@Migoshuro It is like a love letter to the RPG Castlevania(metroidvania) games.
You have a protagonist with a simple story and castle to explore, gain levels, find equipment etc. You know the drill
Looks good and they seem to have nailed the aesthetic, but the animations are too choppy for 2020, or 1997 for that matter (i.e. the silky smooth SOTN). Animations remind me of Golden Axe, Altered Beast, or other older, memory-limited games (someone above said it reminds them of a Megadrive/Genesis game, which I also immediately thought, but not in a good way). Art style is perfect, I think several more frames of animation all around would perfect it.
Am Everly looking to this for wall foods
I am skeptical..... the way the character moves lookes more lika a mobile game and a bit floaty... besides that it only looks castlevania by the gothic style.
Oof. The game looks ROUGH.
Someone called this an 18+ rated game while on the pack it's rated 12. Some people need to get a grip.
Looks alright, something I might get.
This looks both amazing and terrible at the same time.
@Bobb it's an official crossover, yeah.
@RupeeClock No, it didn't start off as a Bloodstained fangame. The special costume had to be approved by ArtPlay/Igarashi himself. Even the neat pose is in.

@Mario_Santos
That's awesome, I'm surprised they didn't explain this in the trailer!
@Anti-Matter Good thing this one's rated 12+! Ufff, you dodged a bullet right there!
@Mario_Santos Amazing!
@RupeeClock Right? Weird
@Ratking I've interviewed the guy, so yes, I know who IGA is. My point is that in having Dracula as its main villain, this is arguably closer (in story, rather than mechanics) to "classic" Castlevania than Bloodstained is.
I believe I played the demo and it felt a bit clunky and cheap...hopefully it ends up being a good game though. Gameplay-wise, this trailer reminded me more of the Willow arcade than Castlevania.
I really like the look of this game but with a female character it feels like "gender appropriation". I need to stay PC in this day and age.👀
From Konami, all I want is a direct port from the PSP of Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles
