If a newly-discovered product listing is to be believed, Switch owners might soon be getting their hands on a new Ninja Gaiden Trilogy.
The listing, first spotted on Reddit, was found on the website for Game Source Entertainment, one of the largest game distributors in Hong Kong. The page has now been taken down, but a cached version can still be viewed here.
The page suggests that Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge will be included, so this isn't to be confused with the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy that launched on SNES back in the day (which included the three Ninja Gaiden games for the NES).
There aren't many more details to be found on the page other than a potential March 2021 release window, so it's unclear whether this compilation would be made up of standard rereleases of the titles mentioned, or full remakes. Either way, we'll keep an eye out for more news on this one and let you know if it gets officially announced.
Would you be up for replaying the Ninja Gaiden Sigma games in a fancy trilogy pack? Let us know down below.

I would rather have the SNES trilogy😢
Hopefully it's the NES trilogy!
@Blooper987 Hahhaa, great minds lol
I dunno. But seeing that screenshot makes me crave some Dead or Alive
Not heard anything about an NG trilogy happening, but if it is as above, what a wasted opportunity having the awful Sigma versions.
I really enjoyed these games. I remember talk at the time saying that they were hard, but I've never been particularly good at games and I was able to play through them all without too much trouble.
That sounds like a heck of a download “patch” if it’s coming out as a physical.
Personally, I’d prefer individual releases all on carts, even if it costs a bit more
I never played the Ninja Gaiden Sigma trilogy, so if it came out on Switch, it would be my first time. Obviously they should also offer the NES trilogy too or as a bonus for those who buy it...however they give us the trilogy, please: let us have it all!
YES! OH, GOD, YES!! I've been BEGGING for this since Day 1 of the Switch!
I hope they're all physical. I'm willing to pay full price for each of these, as long as they're physical!
It’s a massive missed opportunity if it’s Sigma and not Black. Ninja Gaiden Black is just the better game and it’s really quite hard to pin down these days.
This would be awesome and a definite pick up for myself. Played the first and most of the second on Xbox, but never played the third.
But I love the first one. I love it on Switch.
I’ve never cared for the NES games. I found them difficult for the sale of being difficult and a bit clunky in design and control (but that was standard for NES games in the day).
@Miyamotosan Did you play the original versions on Xbox or the Sigma versions on PS3? The sigma games were significantly dumbed down and super easy in comparison.
I'd buy it day one. Been itching for these on switch.
I think this is going to be technologically difficult tho.
Got my hopes up for new games. Should have known better.
Yes please! I only really want the first game but having the other two as well would be nice.
@XenoShaun I played II on 360, III on Wii U, and... can't remember what I played the first one on. Are the sigma (rereleases?) games easier? That would make sense.
I quite enjoyed my time with Razor's Edge back in the day. It was actually the first game I got with my Wii U. Super good time and if this does happen I look forward to playing the first two games. Only ever played the demo for Ninja Gaiden II on 360 and never got around to buying the full game, but really liked the demo!
All on cart(s) or forget about it!
Ryu Hyabusa is definitely coming to smash. So many rumours around it and this would line up perfectly with a reveal.
@Miyamotosan Yeah the Sigma releases were made a fair bit easier (especially 2), so you played the good version for that at least haha. First on XBOX was the real hard one, then Black released which was a little easier but added a whole lot of content to make up for it.
3 / Razors Edge was always generally easier as it had no involvement from Itagaki-san, also why it was more your run of the mill action game.
Played through the first two on xbox and always wanted to play the third one.
I’d rather have a straight sequel to the NES Trilogy, with the same art style and cutscenes.
Amazing news!!
So these are the xbox games essentially?
I’d love this! Also would be great if they did a Dead or alive collection too at some point.
I hope it's the modern Trilogy. Didn't the Sigma versions add new content (like new characters)? If so I would rather have those, even if they're easier (maybe they could reintroduce the older difficulty as an unlock for those who want it?).
I played II a bit on 360 & although I didn't beat it I liked what I played. Also beat Dragon Sword on DS.
Loved Ninja Gaiden 2 on the xbox 360, would love it if it's part of this collection. Yes, I still own that game and yes I can play it this instantly. Would I buy it again on Switch? Well, yes because then I can play it on the train.
Will buy it day one if true. After this can we have a Ninja Gaiden 4 please or at least another remake of the older games.
Wowww ninja gaiden!! Switch needs more of thet please.
Love the game! Will double dip if it happends.
Never played the first two, but oh God, 3-Razor's Edge was terrible.
Anyway, when is my Hayabusa for Smash announcement?
@tofarawaytimes do you prefer the original Xbox version to Black? I only played the original but I’ve heard most people prefer Black. Curious to hear what the original did that black didn’t.
Speaking of ninjas, I wish the Shadow Dancer would make it to Switch. I know it was nothing spectacular, but I just loved watching my older sister play it on the SG.
I'd be interested in this trilogy since I am a fan of all 3 of these games. Whether or not a buy it depends on extras and price, since I own all of these on my PS3.
Sigma 2 is inferior to NG2. Sure it has more content, but it's censored and have fewer enemies.
No way this would look or run as good as the games do on Xbox one X so I'll pass.
I'd love for this to be true, it's been too long since Ninja Gaiden has been around. You'd think now with the rise in ultra hard, Dark Souls-esque games that they'd be keen to make more Ninja Gaiden games.
I hope they at least add the blood back into Sigma 2 like they did in the Vita port.
Also, while I agree with the general consensus that Black is the ultimate version of Ninja Gaiden, there is no bad version. Sigma adds some rather superfluous content and makes a few questionable changes along the way, but it is still one of the best character action games ever made. Black is available to download in a BEAUTIFUL upscaled version on Xbox One and the upcoming Series S/X for like $10, so would still recommend that to people who can go that route.
Hoping when this gets revealed, they announce that Ryu is coming to Smash AND the SNES trilogy and NES versions of Ninja Gaiden II & III are being added to Nintendo Switch Online.
@Sonicvic Razor's Edge wasn't that terrible though but the non-Razor's Edge version was.
@whodatninja Sigma 2 is an interesting case. The PS3 simply didn't have enough memory to handle the (at the time) VERY impressive but technically taxing dismemberment system and sheer number of onscreen enemies, so Koei Tecmo "remixed" the game to play to the strengths of the hardware. It definitely feels gimped when compared directly to the Xbox 360 original, but it's still a good rendition (a few of the changes are for the better honestly, though I HATED the purple mist instead of blood - hoping they fix that for this version).
Oh this is glorious news! Please be true. Please be true.
@Blooper987 I heard those SNES ports sucked. If the originals on the NES got re-released and not the SNES, there's probably a good reason why.
Nice, i hope they put in some effort to make these the ultimate versions, but honestly all of these games are good fun so i'd get them anyway.
I will preorder instantly-
Finally the other 3D versions on a Nintendo platform day one purchase for sure.
I guess the only thing I could request from this trilogy is that they include the original versions of the 3D Ninja Gaiden games that were released on Xbox and 360 (Black and 2). Many people praise those original releases for their meticulous design. Though, I wonder if they're unable too because there's some licensing issue with Microsoft? I know for a fact that in Ninja Gaiden 1 there is a hidden Xbox logo in one of the levels.
I loved Ninja Gaiden 3 on Wii U would happily see it come onto the Nintendo Switch with the first two games. Hopefully all on one cart no downloads.
Given the games haven't been ported to PS4, I wouldn't mind a Switch collection of Sigma 1 and 2 (dunno about Razor's Edge, but I guess I can always see that as a bonus *shrugs *).
@BanjoPickles You're a couple of years too late. Tecmo Koei now makes licensed Warriors/Musou games and Dead or Alive fighting games. Pretty sure there's more than enough Ninja platformer games on the Indie game side of things.
If this is true, then all they would need to do is add Ninja Gaiden II and III the NES app and the whole series would be playable on Switch!!!! I hope this does get released however i’m a bit sad that its the Sigma versions since those have less blood and gore and less enemies on screen, but i’m just happy to see these!!!!
I really loved Ninja Gaiden Sigma at ps3 and liked Ninja Gaiden 3 Rszors Edge at Wii U (I never played NGS2). It's a collection I'd at full price
Got the first two on PS3. Happy to upgrade these.
Well... if everything is on the cartridge, I'm up for it... if it's just another lazy work like Square, 2K and Capcom done, I'm out...
Man, I'm also an older gamer, but why does anybody cry out for the nes trilogy? You could play those on any other device, if it's not already part of Nintendo online! If they bundle it with the last gen trilogy it would be a nice bonus though.
Hope it hits the Switch; not keen on digging up on old Xbox and searching for the games online that are probably hiked up in price due to scalpers.
Definitely curious to give this series a go.
I have played a fair bit of Sigma Gaiden and a lot of Razor's Edge (WiiU). I confess I didn't know that there was a Sigma 2.
I'd take this trilogy absolutely. It almost sounds too good to be true tbh.
(How about some NG on the NES and SNES Online as well please?)
@Yanina Agreed. Ninja Gaiden is cool, but I'd love to get DoA on Switch (No, Extreme does not count). A port of 6 would be nice, but best case would be an exclusive Switch entry Like DoA Dimensions 2 or something.
@judaspete I loved DoA Dimensions on the 3DS so either a DoAD2 or a DoA 6 would be welcome by me too
@Yanina I'd prefer Ninja Gaiden at this point. Unless they make it as awesome as DOA Dimensions on 3DS... That's a different story, that was and is a top quality game. Well, apparently I'm saying basically the same thing as the previous comment.
@Blooper987 Sorry, I disagree. Modern Trilogy blows the original Trilogy away (well, I mean the first two games in the Modern Trilogy, they are classics).
I don't care if it's modern trilogy or Nes. I love them both! It took years of practice and a whole lot of patience and pattern memorization but i can now beat the Nes series with ease. It's the kind of games that'll kick your ass and you'll say thank you may i have another? The music and gameplay made the games hard to put down.
As for the modern series i love the bad ass combat and the feeling of being basically a super Ninja! When you get really good at the game it's very rewarding! Oh and Razors edge is not bad. The vanilla standard version was the travesty. It's what the game should have been to begin with.
Hope this rumor becomes a reality!
Yes!!
A chance for me to curse and break my switch on the go! Alma was difficult.
I hope this is true! I’ve been waiting 😎
@TG16_IS_BAE I played each of them on the Virtual Console. I found out that a majority of the levels and bosses are reused in each game. 2 is probably the most refined on the NES. 3 has a nice feel but it just ramps up the difficulties with limited continues.
I love how Team Ninja might release these demanding games while Square Enix find porting over Ps2 Kingdom Heart games as difficult.
I was honestly looking at buying an Xbox one to play these as I missed them since selling my PS3 and had lost hope they would ever come to Switch. Here’s hoping we hear something from the Tokyo show in a couple weeks! These are challenging games, but to me they were the type of challenge that made you want to get better, not throw the controller at the TV!
man this year could've blow my wallet away if covid not happen, but yeah i believe this port is for fan like 2k did i was hope they come along with yaiba z but that ok
