Re: Soapbox: Breath Of The Wild Is Amazing, But Is It The 3D Zelda That Enthusiasts Expected?

LuckyLand

I'm only a Twilight Princess enthusiast, not really a Zelda enthusiast as a whole series, but even for me this is not a Zelda game by any means, except copyright means of course. I'm not a big fan of Zelda games but I still think that Zelda games are better games the old way. I'd like if Nintendo will create a new IP to make open world adventures and improve their experience in this genre because they can do great things here too but it clearly shows they seriously lack experience in this genre. Or maybe they could still use Hyrule as the game world but still keep the "main storyline" Zelda games like the traditional ones and use the open world formula for spin off games.

Re: Review: Wulverblade (Switch eShop)

LuckyLand

@fullyilly The game is not available yet in Europe? I was waiting for it but it is still not available to buy, all the other releases for today are already available! What is happening?

EDIT: ok I have just read your last post thanks

Re: Sonic Forces Producer Discusses the Breadth of Content Available

LuckyLand

One thing I do want to make sure Sega understand is that as soon as I realized that in the Green Hill stage of this game sand replaced rivers and waterfalls my desire to at least try this game dropped to an extremely low point.
I'd rather buy a porting of Sonic Generations. Not the best Sonic game ever but still looked far better than this one and it actually was an ok game. Even better than just "ok" in some of the stages.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Director Explains Why the Life Counter Has Been Dropped

LuckyLand

I think there was no need to explain. The only people who wouldn't understand it themselves are people who don't know anything about platformers - about games in general I'd say. It's since Super Mario World that lives and 1 ups have become completely useless and most of the games don't use them since then because they've become completely meaningless.

Re: Poll: Nintendo's Switch Arcade Archives - Is It the Retro Gaming You Want?

LuckyLand

If more recent games of other systems (and of third party developers too) will be released I'm perfectly fine with that. For now I will buy Super Mario Bros and Balloon fight (I never played Balloon fight but I want to try it). I'm not interested in the other games of this list, but there are many other retrogames I want. Gameboy games, SuperNes games, MegaDrive/Genesis games, and I would like a lot Gamecube and Wii games too if we can reach that point. I don't care if they call it Virtual console or use another name (Virtual console would have been nice in memory of my beloved Wii) but if it will be the same thing I'm fine with that. For now I am happy about SUper Mario Bros and curious about Balloon fight but I want to see where this thing is going to say if I am satisfied or not. For sure it is a step in the right direction for me, but I want more.

Re: Sony Doesn't Consider Switch To Be A "Huge Market Opportunity"

LuckyLand

Sony and Nintendo have a different approach to gaming and for the most part they cater to different audiences, so they work better when they do their own business and focus on their own distinctive way to do things.
Some people want them both someone else choose only one of the two but they will very probably please their audience and be succesful when they do that

Re: Nintendo is Now 128 Years Old

LuckyLand

My favourite Nintendo experiences have been Gamecube, Wii and now Switch. I love them all. I also enjoyed a lot the old Game boy, it was my first console ever!
I'm sure I would have loved a SNes too but back then my parents decided to buy me an Amiga computer instead. I didn't care that much back then I just wanted something to play videogames.

The Game & Watch commercial is so cute lol
The "Super Mario 128" demo reminds me of Pikmin

Re: Looks Like The SNES Classic Mini Is Just As Hackable As The NES Classic Mini

LuckyLand

I'm against those mini consoles, Virtual console is much better both for players and for Nintendo as well in my opinion, but I have to say one of the worst thing in this SNES classic mini is the fact that many games I like are missing, so being able to upload new ones would be interesting. I'm not buying one anyway, but I could buy it someday if I find it for a very low price. It is extremely unlikely I know. If I had to stick only to the 21 default games I won't buy it even for a very cheap price. Some of the games are great but the missing ones makes it feel uncomplete for me.

Re: Switch Was the Best-Selling Platform for August 2017

LuckyLand

I think that Switch sells on its own merits, but probably mini console helped Nintendo to reach a bigger audience and gain interested from some people that lately lost interested in their console (I love the first Wii - not the Wii U - but I know that many people were unhappy with the first one and its features too and probably mini consoles had some impact on those people)

Re: Switch Versions Of Oceanhorn And forma.8 Outsell Console Rivals

LuckyLand

Oceanhorn is not a good game. It looked quite good and I was in the mood for a more old school Zelda type of game so I tried it but it was absolutely disappointing. Its gameplay and level design are really bad imho.
On the other hand Wonder Boy is really a fantastic game, it really deserves all its success, they made a great work. But at the same time I think it is true that the lack of competition at that moment on the Switch helped it even further probably. Anyway Wonder Boy is absolutely worth it

Re: Soapbox: Playing Super Mario Sunshine Today Painfully Illustrates Nintendo's 3D Evolution

LuckyLand

Super Mario Sunshine has some flaws but it is still a great game.
The only issue in the gameplay was the swimming controls, that were unexplicably less fun and more frustrating than in other Mario games. Aside from that I never had problems either with controls or camera. The setting was less varied than in other games and it could be disappointing because of that, but aside from those two issues the game was great

Re: Splatoon 2 Designer Explains Why The Maps Rotate And Salmon Run Is Time-Limited

LuckyLand

This is really weird. Splatoon 2 is intended to be a multiplayer game but I'm enjoying its single player and it's satisfying enough that way for me. On the other hand I have tried various western games that forced me to do things without any real reason. For example games with single player mode that I wanted to play offline but for "no reason" (no REAL reason other than bs anyway) forced me to stay online to play... Western developers trying to be more eastern friendly maybe?

Re: Nintendo Switch OS Version 3.0.2 Is Now Live

LuckyLand

For sure I will not pay any subscription. I don't like online gaming. I don't enjoy that much local multiplayer either, but at least that is fun because I'm with my friends. Single player (strictly offline) is the best thing to enjoy games for me so why should I pay a subscription?

Re: References To Virtual Reality Discovered In Switch's Code

LuckyLand

I want to avoid virtual reality gaming, but if it is only an option and you can decide how you want to play a game then I guess I cannot say anything against it. As long as I'm not forced to use it if I want to try a game I'd let others play in VR mode while I'd play in traditional mode instead.

Re: Review: Shock Troopers 2nd Squad (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

LuckyLand

I never liked pre rendered graphics, it really looks bad and cheap. I never liked it in any game. I don't even like Rareware classics like Donkey Kong country and many GBA games that used it. Pixel art was much better. In Killer Instinct it was ok, nothing more but at least ok. In every other game is just bad.

Re: Review: Qbics Paint (Switch eShop)

LuckyLand

This game is relaxing and fun, it is expecially satisfying to take photos of your creations and display them in the album but it has one major flaw: it becomes much more frustrating and complicated when you try to create a custom object because you are not completely free to rotate it, it must always be placed on the "game floor" and this makes the process much more tedious. If it was like there was no gravity and you were completely free to handle your object while creating it it would have been much easier and more satisfying

Re: Feature: Pixel Perfex On Why Earth Atlantis Is Ideal For Nintendo Switch

LuckyLand

"Another way to look at it, if we wanted to make a game that sells more copies, we would have made a first person shooter, probably a Call of duty clone instead of a side-scrolling shmup."

Fixed

Also, I think that it is hard for side scrolling shmups to get out of their niche because of two simple reasons: usually they are way too hard and frustrating for people who are not already used to play a lot of them (who said niche?...) and also they tend to use very monotonous themes, almost 99% of them are futuristic games where spaceships shoot at aliens or at other spaceships. I remember Agony for the Amiga wich had a completely different theme it was about an owl (a mage turned into an owl) shooting at other fantasy themed monsters like dragons, ghosts and giant bugs. I would prefer something like that for example but nobody does it. This game feels different enough and I have to say it looks very interesting but usually are shmups developers themselves who put their game in a very strict niche. Obviously people will react accordingly to that when it comes to buy a game or not

Re: An EA Executive's Four-Year Old Son Helped Him Appreciate the Nintendo Switch Concept

LuckyLand

I think the most special thing about Switch is that it is not just more of the same, yes, but at the same time it also has all the same old things I used to love and love still now.
I love the first Wii but at the same time I had to give up on so many things I was used to and I appreciate to enjoy it, it was a fantastic experience to have it but at the same time I always missed something.
Switch instead have everything. It can do anything. It is like the ultimate gaming device. Of course you can always want a more powerful one, more rich in features and functionalities, and that's why in the future I hope we will see a Switch 2, Switch 3 and so on instead of different new consoles.
This is everything, anything too different than this would be a step back, this is why it is so special.

Re: Nicalis Would Love To Bring Night Trap To Nintendo Switch

LuckyLand

@gatorboi352 I bet many people would like to be in last place as much as Nintendo is. Expecially now that Switch is proving to be a succesful console. They have faced much worse times than now and they have always been able to at least survive. Right now Nintendo is doing rather well, far from being in last place. Aside from that, there are many games out there that are so bad that they cannot do any good to any system. Probably there are things much worse than Night Trap. There is a whole load of crap games than anybody could reject with no regrets. Night trap is amongst those games but as I said probably is not even one of the worse in its category. It feels like a joke that someone decided to celebrate an anniversary of something that people knew, tried and talked about only to make fun of it anyway

Re: RiME Producer Explains Why The Switch Port Is Coming So Much Later

LuckyLand

@FiveDigitLP I felt the ending was unnecessarily sad in a very cheap way. I also felt like the behaviour of the dad was unnecessarily cold and harsh in the ending cutscene. The rest of the game was quite empty and very short but not completely unpleasant, but I felt like they tried to made it look like there was more to the game with that "sad" ending which felt completely cheap and out of place, that's why I didn't like it.

Re: RiME Producer Explains Why The Switch Port Is Coming So Much Later

LuckyLand

I don't care about achievements, I think they are pointless, I don't understand why they were created in the first place. Aside from that, I will probably buy this game. I watched the ending because I had the feeling it could be like Brothers: A tale of two sons, a game that really disappointed me a lot, it was crap in my opinion, so I wanted to make sure this one was not going to be a similar, unpleasant experience, but now I think that this game can be much better and can be worth it and I am very interested.

Re: Talking Point: Capcom, the Nintendo Switch and Gaming Business Realities

LuckyLand

I don't che about Monster Hunter, but I think that the localisation of an already existing game would be a low-effort cash-in so I think there is no explanation if really Capcom won't bring Switch version of MH to western territories. However I won't buy it. I gladly bought Ultra Street Fighter 2 and I enjoy it a lot but I'm not interested in Monster Hunter and neither in Resident Evil games

Re: 25 Years Later, And Night Trap Still Isn't Going To Appear On A Nintendo Console

LuckyLand

I'm surprised somebody wants to celebrate the anniversary of such crap. Youtubers will buy it to show something weird, unusual (and bad enough to make jokes about it and look funny in the eyes of their followers) and nobody else will care. I find it sad that such poor, stupid and bad "games" gets their anniversary celebrated. In those 25 years nobody cared about it except to make fun at how bad it is...

Re: Capcom Reportedly Gearing Up for Multiple Nintendo Switch Titles

LuckyLand

I hope they will release a Switch port of Dragon's Dogma, it's a very fun game. I'm not a big fan of Monster hunter and Resident evil, I don't care about them. I would like a Capcom retrogames collection too, with games like Demon's Crest and King of Dragons (I am still hoping to see King of dragons in the 3DS virtual console!)

Re: Yabuki-san Says the Mario Kart Blue Shell is Like Life - Necessary but Not Always Fair

LuckyLand

To tell the truth life is not actually necessary. If life did not exist at all there would be no need of it. For the Blue shell, I always play Mario Kart in single player because I don't like to play online and I prefer single player. I find it fun the way it is, sometimes it is irritating but not too often usually it is just fun but I would NEVER play online a game unfair like this even if I liked online multiplayer
