Re: Soapbox: Huawei's Not The First Company To Vie For Nintendo's Portable Crown, And It Won't Be The Last

LuckyLand

I hope it will be the last who try that in such a bad, dumb and ugly way. I actually would like an alternative to Switch because of that subscription, but not something as bad as this Mate 20 X.
It must have many more physical buttons of course, I mean good quality buttons and good quality D-pad since quality is very important too, and be less expensive.
It is so stupid to make the most powerful device possible when you don't even have games for it lol
Why one should buy this to play Candy Crush or something like that when there are games like Skyrim, Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey and many more on Switch lol
I would have considered buying it if it was A LOT more cheap and had A LOT more buttons.
It could have been even less powerful than Switch because games that need such a powerful device are not available anyway
Buttons and a much cheaper price would have been so much more important in that case!
How is it possible that NOBODY at Huawei thought about it???
They must be completely crazy!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has Stumbled With Switch Online, But It Can Learn From Its Mistakes

@ekwcll I don't dislike Sony, I like some of their games, but often I prefer Nintendo games. I don't care if a system is boring, I don't want the system to be interesting I want the games to be interesting, fun and exciting to play.
A system which is boring because it does not innovate is a system that is easy to use, comfortable, intuitive, and this is all I care about. I love games I'm not interested in the systems itself. So I talk bad about the innovations everytime those innovations have bad consequences on other things that I care about more or if those innovations force me to use them in games that I like and want to play but could have been perfectly playable with classic pads too and instead are made to not support them for example.

(for example I would like Super Mario Galaxy to be playable with the classic controller, but at the same time I understand and accept that a game like Trauma center cannot be played with the classic controller. It happened so often that Nintendo forced people to use motion controls even in games where they were not strictly necessary. This was quite annoying for me. Not as much as this subscription is of course and in the end I still love Wii and its games, but that does not mean I love EVERYTHING about it. I'm glad that I had the chance to play Trauma center since the default controller was the wiimote anyway, but if it was not I'm almost sure I wouldn't have bought it because I don't think it would have been worth it and I would have preferred to have a default classic controller to let more racing, action and fighting games be developed for Wii)

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has Stumbled With Switch Online, But It Can Learn From Its Mistakes

LuckyLand

@ekwcll The only thing about Sony that I prefer compared to Nintendo is that Sony is much more fair to the customers who don't subscribe to their online services.
You clearly don't know what I like at all but you are sure that I like things that I have not even tried because 1) I completely don't care and 2) I am completely against them and since the default controller on Playstation consoles is the normal gamepad the thought of wasting my money in pieces of plastic other than the game discs and the consoles themselves never even got slightly close to my mind. I prefer buying more games or toys like action figures than waste my money in things like PS move or anything like that.

PS: I don't even want to try any kind of VR be it on console or on PC because I am sure I would become really anxious and feel really bad using a device like that and I also hate first person view

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has Stumbled With Switch Online, But It Can Learn From Its Mistakes

LuckyLand

I have always loved Nintendo games, but honestly I never felt the need for all their "hardware innovations". I love Wii and I couldn't care less about the motion controls. I have always hated the dual screen system. If Nintendo just focused only in making great games and nothing else they would have saved a lot of money (and also avoided risks and failures like Virtual boy and Wii U) so now they wouldn't need to scam consumers with that offensive subscription. But they wasted so much money in things that many people really never cared about (people love the DS and 3DS for the incredible amount of games they have, not because of the stupid double screen system) and now they probably can't do anything else than being mean and unfair to their customers.
They did many great games but also many terriblew mistakes, now they have to pay the price and they want us to pay that price in their place.
They can go "entertain" themselves as far as I'm concerned.

LuckyLand

@Alantor28 oh I'm so ashamed that I'm not as smart as you, who have probably already started paying to have access to games that you already bought before and to be able to upload your saves on a cloud while everybody else in the world give you a free alternative! I would like so much to be as intelligent as you! You know what is the only thing that I would want even more? Being more intelligent than you. Go on and pay your dear subscription to have the privilege to be mistreated and exploited by your Nintendo gods. I'm sure it feels so good being mistreated by those superior and awe inspiring deities. I'd like so much to try myself but I'm not as intelligent as you are...

Re: Huawei Is Launching A New Gaming Phone To Rival The Switch, And It Costs Over $1,000

LuckyLand

I'm not a big fan of Nintendo anymore because of the subscription, but if I was I would have a boner right now seeing Switch competing against a devastating falure like this thing is going to be.
I'm not a Nintendo fan anymore but I'm still laughing so hard at those poor fools who think such an expensive wreck can stand next to the Nintendo Switch!!!!
I's unbelievable I feel the need to laugh, to cry and I don'tr even know what else all at the same time!
I wonder how bad will feel the very few poor fools who buy somewthing like that will feel after a couple of months!
Lol

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Maddening Stance On Retro Gaming Is Driving Me To Piracy

LuckyLand

@DTFaux Nobody here is saying that piracy is good to be able to have things for free instead of paying their price.
We are talking about games that would have an extremely cheap price anyway while their price when we were children was prohibitive for many of us.
Even if they were sligthly overpriced by today's standard (many people think so at least), the price of virtual console games was nothing more than a joke for most of us and some of those games are fantastic masterpieces.
Most of us sometimes spend even 50 euros just to try a new game we are not even sure about.
It is not a copyright issue we have here.
I've always had my favourite SNES and Megadrive roms but at the same time I have bought their official releases several times anyway, to show my appreciation and to have them on my favourite consoles too.
You as a creator really think that my behaviour is wrong only because I keep a copy of somerhing that I am still willing to pay, even multiple times, anyway?
You would sound ridiculous that way.
This is a matter of respect and fairness. I feel like Nintendo is not respecting me anymore, and while consoles always had certain problems (like the lack of backwards compatibility) they are adding new issues and annoyances instead of trying to solve the old problems AND are trying to SCAM their customers (the thing that made me ultimately change my opinion about them), and because of that I have no more respect for them and for their copyrights in return. It is clear that roms and emulation is the only way to preserve old games, one can believe that and keep his "unofficial" backup while still supporting and buying official games as well like many passionate gamers do, but when you see a company that becomes so anti-consumer, disrespectful and arrogant it is hard to keep your good will and loyalty to them

@R_Champ
"Things an adult would do:
-Support companies who put out good products even though they can be greedy.
-Provide valid criticisms to the company or other fans
-Use any of the existing VC, mini, or classic systems
-Hell, even pirate begrudgingly (if a game can't be obtained any other way like FE 4 etc)."

An adult wouldn't do any of this.
An adult would not care about games at all, would not care about nothing at all for himself, he would only care about being useful to other members of his family, being used by society and pirating games if his children ask for them so he can give them things spending less money at least until they annoy him so much for the real thing that he cannot give them pirated games anymore and is forced to buy them original games.
If kids don't go so far that he is forced to buy them original games and that they prefer to buy a single original rather than have thousands of pirated games, then it means that they will probably forget soon about games and don't care about them that much: a sign that they will probably become adult very soon and would think only about being used by society and by their family, not about things to have for themselves and their own enjoyment anymore.
That's how awesome being adult is.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Maddening Stance On Retro Gaming Is Driving Me To Piracy

LuckyLand

Nintendo always want to fight piracy but all they do is making people with at least some common sense angry and ENCOURAGE piracy that way, they literally INSTIGATE it, while the most effective way to fight piracy is to discourage it.
People love their games so much that they wouldn't even need to be 100% fair, the price of their games can even be slightly bigger than other games and many people still buy them.

I can accept that, I can accept to pay "a little bloated" prices (to pay to ACTUALLY BUY something I mean, not to just have "access" to something for a limited period), but nothing worse than that.

Now they are not simply unfair with just the amount of money they ask, the method itself is completely unfair and exploitative imo.
The method imo is much worse than simply the amount of money.
A simple price to buy something can be considered eccessive, but if I choose to pay it I do so just once and after that I don't even think about it again.
The price is unfair, but at least the seling method is not.

What Nintendo is doing now is completely unacceptable imo.
It is very hard to leave their games and their console behind for me, but I cannot do otherwise. I can't accept what they are doing to me and all other customers with Switch.

Re: Reggie Says Nintendo Competes For Consumer Time, Not Concerned About Direct Competition

LuckyLand

@jsty3105 "Ppl may have now forgotten but the narrative leading up to the Switch launch was that Nintendo should get out of hardware. Adding in entertainment risked the Switch being classed as a portable entertainment device - and there's much too strong competition already in that market."

This is ridicuolous. People who bought Switch are either people who wanted Nintendo games and/or people who wanted to play portable games much more advanced that the ones we were used before (I mean you can play Skyrim on Switch! People fantasize about something like that since the first PSP was created but never got anything like that before)
Those people would have bought Switch ANYWAY
because

because

THEY - WANTED - IT

They wanted Switch for sure. It is not that somebody said "oh look this is the only thing that don't play movies, don't play music, don't display pictures, don't browse the web, it is so unique being totally useless! I want it so much!!!"

That would be crazy.

If Nintendo offered something more they could only have sold a few more devices, not even a single one less. Because people who wanted Nintendo games and people who wanted advanced portable games (non-handheld portable games) just wanted it and had no other choices anyway.

People don't buy something so expensive because they don't care at all but hey, it is unique because it does less things than everything else. This would be just silly.

Re: Reggie Says Nintendo Competes For Consumer Time, Not Concerned About Direct Competition

LuckyLand

@jsty3105 and having a product with the most narrow and less versatile type of content is a good way to face possible industry changes?
Lol. Nintendo games are the ones that have changed the less compared to others, and I even think that this is a good thing, usually I despise games that are too different than the classic types (..."things"... like the ones that Quantic Dream does for example, and they dare call those... "things"... GAMES!!!!), so I can appreciate that, but I understand that because of that they NEED third party games if they want to be competitive. For the same reason it is just silly to say that they want to compete with every other form of entertainment while they are the only ones that don't offer anything else than just games, and in a much more controlling and limitative way than others too.
Wanting to compete with everything else can be good, ok, but they need to offer more than others if they really want to achieve that, not LESS thanb others.
I myself would have been the happiest customer ever if Switch was versatile and useful enough to be the ONLY thing that I wanted to use, something to give me the possibility to ditch everything else and expecially PCs, but Switch instead made me want to play almost only on PC because of how much limited it is.
Their goals can be good, but the way they try to achieve it is so horribly wrong.

Re: Reggie Says Nintendo Competes For Consumer Time, Not Concerned About Direct Competition

LuckyLand

@Anti-Matter one can be unique and also give all the "EXTRA" bonuses that competitors give. Nintendo games are unique, and imo often better (not always but often), it'not like Nintendo is unique because they deny their customers things that others give them. Being unique because you give more is good, being unique because you give less is bad.
If they want people to spend more free time on their system rather than "anything" else they should give at least all the "extras" others give to their customers.
Instead with the subscription they have lost almost all my time (every now and then I still use Switch since I already have it anyway).
Their strategy if they want to monopolize people's time is completely wrong imo. But I'm not even sure that they really want that. Seems quite stupid to me that a game producer is competing for example against time spent on tv series. Expecially while other game producers offers both games and all those other things. Their games can be considered better than other games, but their games cannot be considered better than other kind of things because they are things of DIFFERENT kinds. It is not a matter of better or worse, unique or not, it is a matter of more or less, and Nintendo offers less in that regard.

Re: Reggie Says Nintendo Competes For Consumer Time, Not Concerned About Direct Competition

LuckyLand

The things that Nintendo guys say keeps getting more and more stupid and nonsensical everytime.
One can do MANY different things on Playstation consoles and can only play games on Switch but they want you to compete with all your "entertainment time" as a whole. Why the hell don't they do something about it then???
Are they insane?
Up to this point they probably considered dumb their customers with the online subscription thing and all, but this proves that they are completely dumb too.
It is like a bottomless pit of stupidity

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

LuckyLand

@Alantor28 You must be pretty stupid to be happy to get scammed by Nintendo. Because what they are trying to do is a scam for gamers.
Nintendo is worse than EA because Nintendo games are good so Nintendo is ruining something that would deserve much more and much better than that. EA games suck so they are not ruining anything good, their game would be bad enough themselves anyway.
So what Nintendo is doing is worse than what EA does.

Re: Poll: What Do You Want From Today's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct?

LuckyLand

I'm sure that this game is fantastic so I don't really care that much about what they show, it's going to be fantastic anyway. Because of that, I don't really care about hearing news about Smash bros (a game that I already know will be at least great) but I'd like a lot to hear that Nintendo will change their behaviour and be more respectful towards their customers. Games like this one make me still care about Nintendo even if, at this point, I'd like to just forget about them. I hate how they treat their own products and gamers that are their customers, but I just love so much their games... I still hope that hings will change, even if I feel I will never be able to really trust them as I used to do in the past...

"I never understand how people think it is justified to defend criminal activity just because they seem to have some delusion they have a right to something that isn't theirs"

My old Gameboy got broken, I have bought some games for it full price back then and then I bought even more Gameboy games on the Virtual Console (I even bought again some of the games that I already had in physical form) but yeah, if I play those games on my computer (since my Gameboy got broken and I don't even have it anymore) I'm committing a crime because those games ARE NOT MINE???? ARE NOT MINE????? So what did I do when I bought them?????????

I didn't dump the rom myself, I downloaded them, this makes those games not mine????? LOL

Re: Nintendo Shuts Down JavaScript GBA Emulator Hosted On Development Platform

LuckyLand

@BulbasaurusRex so if things take 30 years to get better we shouldn't do anything because it takes too long? Is it better never than late for you? Laws can be wrong and that situation simply is wrong. Laws are protecting only Nintendo as a publisher and producer, they are not protecting the customers and they are not caring about the games preservation.
If laws protect only one side the other one can do something to protect himself as far as I'm concerned.

And if there are people who are legally preserving the games, why Nintendo used roms downloaded from internet to make Virtual console games?

Re: Nintendo Shuts Down JavaScript GBA Emulator Hosted On Development Platform

LuckyLand

@BulbasaurusRex Then publishers should do something about that to have a legal way to preserve ALL games, and as I said in another topic in all those situations where they cannot sell the game anymore (as well as the ones when they just don't care to sell it anymore) games should become public domain. If they want to keep something under they control they should have the duty to put that thing to use. If they don't want to or just cannot anymore then that thing should become public domain. Until then roms of old games are more than welcome for me.

Re: Nintendo Shuts Down JavaScript GBA Emulator Hosted On Development Platform

LuckyLand

If Nintendo cared more about ALL the games for their consoles and about their customers I would be happy to hear that.
BUT Nintendo don't care that much about games, they care only about the ones that ca make them earn the most money possible only because of that reason and also Nintendo clearly shows that they have no respect at all for their customers, they just want to suck money like a leech would suck blood, then this kind of news make me sad instead.
Nintendo should have all the rights to protect their own games, but they should earn those rights by keep caring about ALL their games and preserving them and this is not what they are doing except for the games that let them suck the most money possible in the most stupid and unconvenient ways possible (stupid mini consoles, online subscription...)

Re: Head Of MercurySteam Believes Nintendo And Konami Resurrected Spanish Studio

LuckyLand

@Antraxx777 Maybe because something like that is often overused in other franchises to the point that it feels cheap everytime I see it? It's so boring and underwhelming. Not that I wanted a Castlevania focused on the story anyway. Do you think this was a good reason to completely break the structure of the game, the meaning of the progression, the flow of the exploration? They ruined a great game because of this useless nonsense... It could even have been much much more replayable if it wasn't made like that. They ruined the replayability of the game too.

Re: Head Of MercurySteam Believes Nintendo And Konami Resurrected Spanish Studio

LuckyLand

@Cobalt except the fact that Lords of Shadow is crap compared to even the worst God of war game.
Mirror of fate on the other hand for me has been more enjoyable than the worst God of war games. Of course the best God of war games are a whole different level, God of war 2 is the only game that was able to surpass Super Castlevania 4 as my favourite action game, of course Mirror of fate has no chance against it but that does not mean it's bad.
Mirror of fate is a game that could have been great but some idiot decided to severely damage it to make its stupid and trivial plot stand out like it was something to write home about.

Re: Head Of MercurySteam Believes Nintendo And Konami Resurrected Spanish Studio

LuckyLand

@EvilLucario Dawn of sorrow and Portrait of ruin were so bad that I did not want to try Ecclesia. Super Castlevania 4, SOTN and Aria of sorrow are the best ones imho (SCV4 the absolute best), but even Circle of the moon was much better than DOS and POR for the DS. Circle of the moon is a very good game its only problem imo is that the graphics are too repetitive and simplistic. Harmony of dissonance is bad I agree.

Re: Parent Trap: I Really Miss The Nintendo Wii

LuckyLand

Me too, it's my favourite console ever despite the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of motion controls and I don't like much the casual games it became famous for. Many people don't realize that Wii was much much more than they think it was.

Re: Head Of MercurySteam Believes Nintendo And Konami Resurrected Spanish Studio

LuckyLand

Konami should be thankful to Mercury Steam. Mirror of fate is the only good thing happened to Castlevania in ages while Lords of shadow is incredibly shallow and disappointing and as far as I know LOS2 is just crap. Imo even the DS Castlevania games were not as good as the older ones (plain bad if you ask me) and the other 3D Castlevania games were so bad that Lords of shadow is the best one.
Mirror of fate has its annoying flaws fore sure (the way that its story - a trite and predictable one - is told and the fact that the game is split up into 3 different parts because of that) but Mercury steam did a great job with it and I'm sure that Konami is to blame for that problem with the structure of the game.

Re: Nintendo Takes Legal Action Against Two Notorious Arizona-Based ROM Websites

LuckyLand

@Syrek24 I already had all the roms of all the games released on Virtual Console that I wanted before Virtual Console existed, but as soon as those games were released on Virtual Console I bought all of them. I even bought them twice when they were released on the 3DS too (some of them because not all of them have been released on 3DS). Not everybody who play with roms is a thief who just want to play games for free. There are people who just care about the games and are ready to pay for them as soon as it is possible, as soon as the owners distribute them again.
And retrogaming and piracy are two completely different things. I never played a pirated "modern" game because I care about them and I want both to support them and show to the developers what kind of games I like by buying them (and not buying the ones that I don't like).
I agree that we don't have the right to play a commercial game for free, but at the same time I don't think that owners of the IPs have the right to let their own games get lost and disappear but that's exactly what they do often. I don't want that to happen. I'm against piracy but I'm not against roms of older games, at least the ones that owners don't care anymore to distribute or simply cannot distribute anymore because they became licensing mess.
If there was a law to regulate this and somebody officially tasked to preserve the games that original owners don't care about anymore by making them public domain and keep them in an archive, then rom sites could be made completely illegal and shut down immediately and I would be fine with that. Honestly I think it would be the best thing, but nobody has done something like that yet. I hope that someday it will happen.

Re: Nintendo Takes Legal Action Against Two Notorious Arizona-Based ROM Websites

@EightBitMan "A game / build (and if possible it's source code) should become public domain after xx amount of years, period."

in my opinion, software should become public domain as soon as its owner stop making it available to their customers. If they don't want and/or cannot sell something anymore they are not going to earn anything from it anymore anyway, and having those software as public domain would prevent them from disappearing.

Re: Primary School Teacher Uses Nintendo Labo As A Creative Classroom Tool

LuckyLand

@fiben1002 if kids at home ask their parents for Nintendo games after their teacher decided to use Nintendo hardware at school and develop his lessons around it that would make the teacher a salesman more than a teacher and the school not what a school should be in the first place.
Kids have always wanted Nintendo games, but school is something else and for good reasons as I already said multiple times. Your 5 year old daughter maybe does not know what Kindle is, and probably many other child are in the same situation as well, but I'm sure all of them know what a Switch and/or an iPad is, they know what something with the name Nintendo on it is and school should remain independent from such things.

Re: Primary School Teacher Uses Nintendo Labo As A Creative Classroom Tool

LuckyLand

@fiben1002 we are doomed if relevant skills needed by young people are related to Switch, iPad and other similar products. I wouldn't care anymore if that was the case, because literally we would be doomed in that case. But I absolutely don't think this is true. I absolutely don't think the quality of the learning process get better if you have Switch, iPad or other similar products in your school. This is only a way for big companies to promote their products to people so young that are even more easily influenced.

Re: Primary School Teacher Uses Nintendo Labo As A Creative Classroom Tool

LuckyLand

@Anti-Matter @fiben1002 "That's a Great Opportunity for Nintendo to introduce LABO as a New Contender." school shouldn't be a place for Nintendo, or Apple, or anybody else to advertise their products.
And yes, a company that make only tools specifically intended for schools would not bother me the same way because that would be their role, they would only do their job, it would not be trying to advertise something in a place that is not intended to advertise commercial products but is intended for much more important purposes instead.
