Gamescom is well and truly underway and, as part of the celebrations, Nintendo has revealed two brand new videos giving us a closer look at some of the newly announced fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
First up we have King K. Rool, a fighter who has been wanted by almost everyone under the sun for years. In this video, we get to see the mighty Kremling take on Snake in a fiesty one-on-one match captured by the Smash Bros. Ultimate development team.
And secondly, we have a Team Fire Emblem vs Team Metroid match up. The newly introduced echo fighter Chrom joins forces with Lucina, while Dark Samus teams up with Ridley for a two-on-two match. Interestingly, we also get to see the new Stage Morph feature in action. Lovely stuff.

Sit back, give them a watch, and share your current excitement levels for the game's release this December in the comments. Which fighter are you most excited to play as?

K. Rool looks glorious. Seems like you can do some cool tricks with his projectiles.
Whew, thank goodness K.Rool doesn't seem to be quite as slow as someone like Dedede. His moveset really looks pretty cool.
Hopefully they put out some gameplay on the Belmonts too, would also appreciate a better look at the Castlevania stage.
When do Nintendo's live Gamescom videos start?
King K. Rool definitely looks like a navel fighter. Er, novel fighter!
It's so touching to see a father and his daughter fighting space monsters together.

Thanks items for making what should have been an opportunity at thorough character evaluation become a chaotic fiesta of luck that's hard to pull much valuable intel from. Regardless, loving what I could glean from Dark Sammy. And dat K. Rool tho, holy moly, I'm so happy that he's not only a character but that he looks FUN. You da man Sakurai.
dont know how this game ever become so popular, looks like a mis mash of lots of games, far to manic for me
@AlexOlney Alex, you were in my dream the other night. Was that your doing, or was it all me?
@jockmahon this party mode does not represent the game's appeal to the competitive scene. Most dedicated "for glory" players keep the items off and fight on less chaotic stages so that it's purely about skill, reflex, and reading your opponent - not luck. If you're really curious I'd YouTube some recent Evo matches so you can get a sense of the game's competitive appeal and see if it's more up your alley that its party mode appeal.
K. Rool looks glorious. I’m dying for December.
Aaaah stop teasing us Nintendo, the wait is already to hard haha.
Im really digging the details in the background, the crowd in the arena.
i lm hoping for a street fighter stage like Chun-li stage where people walk by, while we beat the crap of eachother lok
Did anyone else notice the announcer not even saying 'The winner is...' or '[character/team] wins!' He just says the winning character/team's name this time. In the E3 demo he still says '... wins!' but I don't hear that here in these videos. (Here is an E3 demo video for comparison.)
@Syrek24 Christ almighty, way to take things to a rude extreme. I'm not here to insult anyone darling, just looking at the evidence. The most popular Smash channels on YouTube are by pros or people who play competitively, hence these are the people generating most of the public hype. I know MOST PEOPLE play with items but these people aren't considered the rabid fanbase, tearing each character's move set apart frame by frame, practicing combos and match ups for hours a day. If someone who's looking for the depth they keep hearing about after they try their first round of Smash aren't aware that they can turn items and stage hazards off and focus on being competitive, they're going to be disappointed, and usually when I make the assumption that that's why people who say they don't get the hype feel the way they do, I'm right. Maybe I'm wrong this time, he can feel free to correct me, but I really don't need rabbid ninnies like you jumping down my throat for simply offering advice to someone. You seriously need to chill.
@SpaceboyScreams your advice is condescending and misplaced. Yes the most popular channels in streaming services are from pros but Smash thrives on the party aspect, always. And why watch a party match when you can play the thing yourself at that average level?
Don’t get surprised if someone answers you with the same tone. Smash will always be the beast of a game it is because of the party aspect, not in spite of it.
Looks fast an furious!
Those are a lot of terrible choices in shading and materials though.
It's like they deliberately threw all the excellent art direction choices of Smash 4 out of the window, before they knew what to replace it with, just to at least make sure this game looked different.
Definitely can't wait for this.
@Kmno @syrek24
The only condescension i see here is from people who are attacking @spaceboyscreams for daring to try and get @jockmajon into the game. Spaceboy didn't just come in and go "hurr durr items" - they were responding to someone who said the game looked "far to manic for me", and so they mentioned that the items responsible for a lot of the manic feel can be turned off, and that there's a thriving community for such a competitive playstyle.
And syrek, I'm curious if you intentionally misquoted "this party mode does not represent the game's appeal to the competitive scene. ", or if they edited in those last few words later.
Dark Samus looks like fun
It bugs me that the Blast-O-Matic is shown blowing up DK Island instead of the opponent. How did Snake get damaged if I didn't see him?
@Syrek24
Well then, fair enough. My view of the conversation is probably skewed by edits, then.
Pretty Epic... the music was thumpin, the crowds were roaring, the presentation of this game is so amazing. Really top notch stuff right here.
Dark Sammy up smash looks great, i wonder about the hitboxes.
