Re: SEGA Unveils New Sonic 'Racing Around The World' Campaign

@Zufolobelisk All these pointless moves Sega has made in the name of brand cohension just bled away fans.

They won't take StC or Archie fans' money, that is too "off-brand" to them but they're okay with appealing to the teeniest tiniest babies with cocomelon style shorts, and prime sonic who is a hyperactive uwu baby and movie sonic who acts like spiderman lite, totally out of character, as much or more than Archie Sonic

Muted this game on my TL so fast

Look if Nintendo just refuses to make something that fans want, it's their own fault for not reaping the possible financial rewards if another company comes along and makes a legally distinct game. I know we act like they're the kindly grandpa of the industry but Nintendo isn't entitled to anything especially not concepts like this.

I realize it doesn't look the best on Switch but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.

Yeah I'm one of those weird Sonic fans that absolutely loves Superstars but totally bounced off Frontiers.

You're kinda meant to use some of the emerald powers to get hits in this game so the whole bosses are invincible for too long blah blah is overblown for me. Love the level design. Love the physics. Love Trip.

For me, this is only slightly less good than Mania, but I've overplayed that so much I'm putting a ton of time into this.

Re: Review: Sonic Superstars - A Fine, Authentic-Feeling Return That Runs Great On Switch

Hey guys, veteran of Genesis Sonic, the Sonic Advance series and lover of Sonic Mania here.

My general thoughts on this: the Nintendo Life score is spot on. The level design is tight and the perfect length, not too short, not too long. The boss design is fairly good. I'm not a huge fan of the auto runner bosses but the couple here aren't unbearably bad, there was only one boss fight I felt like dragged on a little too long overall. It's true that there are times when the bosses are invincible but that makes sense in the context of Co-op. I still don't feel like the pace of them is bad at all.

The game has a pretty approachable difficulty, it's definitely beatable with trial and error. I personally found the claims of difficulty to be somewhat overblown, I was actually killed by a mid boss more than any of the proper bosses although I haven't unlocked the final final boss of the game just yet. I chalk this talk of difficulty up to some reviewers just not knowing the boss tropes of older games. This isn't "cuphead hard" though.

The music is a bit hit and miss but nothing bad, just occasionally forgettable. I feel the game would have benefitted from a stronger boss theme.

There are a lot of level branches here and the powers provide opportunities to hide things everywhere so a completionist will have A LOT to find and enjoy here. I'm glad the use of the powers was restrained and mostly optional.

The story is barebones but cute.

I would say if you were a 2D Sonic fan in general and you're in doubt: go for it!

The controls and responsiveness of the characters are Infinitely better than the controls for Sonic forces (ba dum pssh) and feel wonderful and snappy, just like the old games. No weird delay or floaty jumping.

No game is perfect but this is a very good hit in the nostalgia. In my estimation it's only slightly less good than Mania.

Re: Review: Wargroove 2 - A Must-Play Tactical RPG And A Worthy Successor To Advance Wars

Julie-Sued

The last released Advance Wars was pretty much going the Wargroove direction with commanders on the field (Days of Ruin.) They didn't die when killed but still a big setback because you lost a ton of funds. I agree that this series is the natural successor, I would like to see one in a modern setting though. Wargroove: Future Wars?

The mouse people sold me on the sequel since I'm a mouse lover

Re: Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition Announced For Switch

The story is hit and miss for some people. I like the basic premise of all the bandit clans being united by Troy and Tyreen, some of the stuff that happens later is perhaps not as compelling but there are at least good quality of life improvements for the gameplay and the shooting is fun.

Never thought we'd see a switch port of this with the much bigger areas in the 3rd game.
