I'm getting both Superstars and Wonder. The number of games that come out that appeal to me per year are getting fewer and fewer so I have plenty of game budget, it's no sweat to pay full price for these.
Haven't read a lick of news about this game that I am for sure buying other than the first trailer. I'm not trying to know every single thing about it before it even comes out!
Happy for anybody that really wanted to play this and Switch is their only platform. I'm still holding out for FEAR + FEAR Files on the Switch but looking less likely as time goes on
Let's be real, Nintendo sidelined Advance Wars to make more waifu sim - sorry I mean Fire Emblem games. The demand for AW has always been there. This actually looks pretty good. And it wouldn't take much to be better than Tiny Metal which I just couldn't get into at all.
@Magician Not really sure they are comparable. This is a story driven strategy rpg, into the breach comes off more like a straight up puzzle game that just happens to have mecha
The popular conspiracy theory in my friend group is that this remake was turning out absolutely BAD and Nintendo was willing to scapegoat the war for more time to work on it and get it up to snuff.
I believe everyone that likes RPGs should try Skies of Arcadia. It will probably remain my favorite for all time for a number of reasons.
I will say that the music is essential to the experience of the game and I'm not a huge fan of SoA Legends seriously degraded soundtrack.
If you only have access to the gamecube version make sure you listen to the full original soundtrack on YouTube, etc. It's leaps and bounds better than the more midi-ish on disc gamecube tunes.
Dropped once onto concrete driveway hard. Broke screen protector, scuffed plastic. No impact on functionality.
Stopped using the included joycons right away in favor of 3rd party controllers as I find them terribly uncomfortable. So only having a few hours on them, they work like new.
Heating fins still intact after hours of docked play and no notable bending of the machine.
@GuyProsciutto For sure. That reviewer only played about 3-5 intro missions judging by their complaints. They never actually got to the meat of the game
As a big fan of the original game, this remake has been a great experience for me.
Yeah, the game can drag for the first few missions when as the reviewer mentioned your targeting is essentially random. But stick with it thru the early game difficulty spike. As soon as you start getting skills you become incredibly more effective in battle.
Was playing this remake last night and got the guide skill upon encountering the UCS 64th Squadron which is about the 5th or so mission in the game. So really it doesn't actually take that long to start getting skilled up.
Second reviewer that didn't actually play the game long enough to get the guide skill and thus inaccurately says you can't target individual enemy parts.
Its a late game ability guys. You're not supposed to be able to just own the enemy right away. It's an RPG remember? This is more like 7/10 for a series fan at least.
The virtue signaling and waiting pretty much lost Nintendo a sale from me. I just replayed the original versions of Advance Wars 1&2 instead. TBH the remake wasn't looking up to the standards of the originals anyway. I don't care about voice acting.
@WaffleRaptor01 Hard disagree with your hard disagree. RE5 is where the franchise became outright terrible, trite and predictable. RE5 like a clown car driving in circles beeping, then in 6 all the clowns came out. RE0 is still very atmospheric and spooky.
@SpaceboyScreams in the original sonic games he is literally meant to be akin to a pinball with momentum. They're actually quite brilliant in concept. The idea never transferred to 3D well. I grin my head off playing sonic 2/mania
Already replayed through the original advance wars 1&2 since this has been delayed, so...
I imagine many probably did the same. Let's face it, some voice acting and a new coat of paint doesn't change the core experience of this series at all.
But it kinda stinks because I can see the launch sales being even lower now after delays
@fun_mat The original product is actually really good, most Hori products are, had the same feature set and sold like crazy. Also Hori is an official Nintendo peripheral partner, so it's legit that it's here, honh honh
I guess at the end of the day I just don't see how not releasing a finished game helps anybody. There are certainly Ukrainian fighters that have switches that want to play this in their down time. What about respecting those peoples wishes? It's a two way street.
Having fun with it but I already played the original so kinda already knew what I signed up for. It's decent couch coop when you've exhausted every other option

Re: Front Mission 2: Remake Showcases Features In New Switch Trailer
@CanardDeFeu For me, the first "timed" mission to destroy the SAM sites is usually the first major difficulty spike for sure!
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Targeting A 2024 Release For The Switch Successor
Getting a new console on day 1 is pretty overrated unless there's absolutely incredible launch software
Re: Front Mission 2: Remake Showcases Features In New Switch Trailer
Liked the first remake and I'll probably get this.
Re: Feature: Our 17 Favourite Dogs In Games - Canine Companions & Memorable Mutts
No Awoofy? The Kirby canine waddle-dee replacement is very adorbs
Re: Sega President Teases Possible Sonic "Reboots And Remakes"
Skies of Arcadia port for modern consoles, please and thanks
Re: Microsoft Given All-Clear In The US To Acquire Activision Blizzard
Sony deserves nothing. They have anti consumer practices a mile long through their history
Re: Poll: What Course Are You Most Excited About In The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC?
Squeaky clean sprint is giving me monkey ball washing machine vibes so I'll go with that
Re: Activision CEO Made 'A Bad Judgement' In Not Supporting The Nintendo Switch More
Nobody cares about cloud gaming.
Re: Xbox Boss Says Call Of Duty Would Run "Relatively Great Compared To Other Switch Games"
@Jeronan spot on analysis.
Sony put themselves in this situation with their own business practices and all the flailing and whinging they are doing won't change that.
Re: New Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Trailer Welcomes Back Orange Star
Liking the voicework and it seems to run smooth
fingers crossed there are no major bugs on launch

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!
Re: Where To Pre-Order Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp On Switch
The delay was to atone for hetler in super famicom wars
Re: Japanese Charts: PlayStation 5 Soars In Sales And Once Again Beats Switch
Must be buying them to watch movies on since PS5 has no games
Re: Advance Wars' Delayed Switch Release Might Finally Be Reporting For Duty
The popular conspiracy theory in my friend group is that this remake was turning out absolutely BAD and Nintendo was willing to scapegoat the war for more time to work on it and get it up to snuff.
I think this may very well have some merit.

OG switch from mario odyssey bundle.

Alien Storm and Golden Axe II are good.
Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New
I'm having huge fun with the Xbox One version, this game is just a little too advanced to run well on the Switch. I'd rate the Xbox One version 8/10

Re: Video: Remembering 10 Years Of Wii U
Say what you will about the physical game releases but the Wii U's virtual console is incredible compared to the drip feed we're getting on Switch
Mine will always stay hooked up to the tv
Re: Feature: Missing In Action - What Happened To These Switch Games?
The virtue signaling and waiting pretty much lost Nintendo a sale from me. I just replayed the original versions of Advance Wars 1&2 instead. TBH the remake wasn't looking up to the standards of the originals anyway. I don't care about voice acting.
Re: Poll: What Was The First Pokémon Game You Played? Nintendo Wants To Know
Never bought a Pokémon game. The gameplay never looked that appealing. Played some of the TCG back in the early 2000s after somebody gave me a deck but that didn't last long
Re: Sonic Team Listening To Frontiers Feedback, Wants To Take Series To "Greater Heights"
Don't use a generic, last gen looking grassy overworld to try to sell your new game next time.

Re: Sega Wants To Know What Mini Console Fans Would Like To See Next
Where is the "Enough little consoles, port Skies of Arcadia to Switch already!" option?
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Music Track From A Nintendo Game?
Probably something in the Skies of Arcadia soundtrack. One of the battle or boss themes.

The art style kind of gives me Bad North vibes. Cartoony with great use of color. Looks fun

Re: Kirby's Dream Buffet Rolls Out Worldwide Release Date
$14 is basically free. That's like one fast food combo. This looks fun
Re: Video: Will Switch First-Party Games Ever Get A Permanent Price Drop?
@multiman Nah. Let the zombie video game chain die so indie game stores can come back.
Re: Metal Slug Tactics Delayed To Next Year
A bit of a shame but I'll live. Long as it isn't indefinitely delayed arbitrarily like some other game I know of
Re: Review: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 - An RPG Classic That Time Hasn't Been Too Kind To

Re: Random: Rejoice! Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Coconut Mall Has Been 'Fixed'
Good on 'em. The last straightway is VERY boring if those cars don't move, this is a huge improvement.
Re: It's Official, Tactics Ogre: Reborn Is Coming To Switch
Ogre Battle 64 will always be my fav despite the game failing to ever mention critical systems to the player
Re: Sky-High Sundae Is Coming To Mario Kart Tour Very Soon
It's pretty simple but fun
Re: Freedom Planet 2 Switch Port Now In Development, Arriving Summer 2023
I should give the first game another chance sometime. I was enjoying it at first but the later levels didn't click with me.
