Unless you can form a team like how it happens with Splatoon then I have zero interest in this. Zelda for me is all about the single player experience. It's fine to tack on a multi-player element, but the game has to be driven as single player.
The biggest issue Nintendo faced was bettering last years E3. Everything this year was just as good if not better than last year (although personally I've had enough of hearing about more Smash news), except for the main dish - the digital event.
The puppets were great, but not as great as the chicken animation. The humour was good, but not as good as last years. The Puppets were not used enough. They re-treaded old ground - why did they focus so much on Yoshi when the game is due one week from now. There was three new Wii U reveals, which were lame, and the Starfox reveal didn't "wow". Whereas last year everyone was jumping up & down with excitement. The amount of 3DS reveals was good but not great. I do feel sorry for Next Level though. They don't deserve any of the abuse that they are getting; the Metroid game could be good and should be judged accordingly. I do understand the frustration of not getting a full-on console Metroid and using the Prime name was a bad error. The excuse that it takes too long to make a console Metroid game is pathetic...what if someone owns a Wii U and not a 3DS??
Still, with the exception of Bethesda none of the other events were that great. Sony's was slick and had Uncharted, which looked great, but half of it was dedicated to "buy our version of this game and you get full maps one month before the other versions"...Ohhh, how exciting---cough---sarcasim---cough. They padded it out with crap. UBIs was cheesy and cringe worthy with only multi-player games and Square-Enix, who did have some good games, was flat and dull. And EA, well it's EA...nuf said.
Mario Tennis has always been a great game, especially on the N64, but from what I saw during the Treehouse session I wasn't impressed. The super mushroom thing just broke up the play with unnecessary cut-scenes and the animation looked so jerky, as if it was running at 15fps - to be fair that may have been the transmission but I had the setting up to 720HD.
@ningeek185 - I think you're right on that. Starfox was their big showcase and it needed to "WOW" the public, especially with the rest of the direct being "so so". It looked good, but it didn't "WOW".
I'm excited for the game and can't to play it, but blown away? No, can't say that I was.
That being said, when they should SM3DW for the first time people weren't blown away and look how that turned out. It's too early for the doom n gloom.
If Nintendo showcased a full-on Metroid U with all the bells and whistles to rival, if not better games like Fallout 4 then E3 2015 would've been a success, even with it's other shortcomings.
But we didn't get that Metroid U so let's move on. This game could be decent and we shouldn't kick it to the ground before we know more about it and see some reviews; it is a bitter pill to swallow.
There were many issues with this year's e3, many highlighted above, but for me the biggest one was that more than half of the Wii U reveals were games we already knew about - and that was very disappointing.
2014 E3 was awesome and this year's one was the polar opposite. Why didn't they build on the momentum they created last year and on top of successful launches of Smash 4 and Splatoon and give us what we really want. A proper Metroid, F-Zero, Paper Mario for Wii U!!!
Sure there some positives this year, Starfox looked great and it looks like they're keeping the 3DS going in it's final years, but it wasn't the greatest. I haven't seen all the conferences yet UBI's was cringeworthy bad and I read somewhere that EAs was terrible.
Every game from these "Nintendo franchises we want to see at E3" is a massive yes from me. It's like my number one wish list. Only F-Zero and Pilotwings left to go.
Splatoon, Devil's Third, Xenoblade, Starfox and hopefully something new from Platinum!!!!!!!!! I'll be far too busy with these to even give COD a nano second of thought.
Looks like Nintendo has finally stopped the game drought. I believe there's been/will be a major retail release from September last year to September this year.
Personally I love the Metroid games and it's a fantastic franchise. But its a niche title with the Nintendo faithful and probably wouldn't improve Wii U sales by very much but it would keep a fair few Nintendo fans happy.
But that's what the Wii U needs. It already has major titles; Mario, Smash, MK, it now needs these second level games that appeal to different audiences. Paper Mario, Metroid, F-Zero etc.
I've actually started to see Splatoon advertised on some major channels, and at peak times. No actual gameplay footage was shown, which I find a little odd.
Still it's great news the game has done so well, let's hope it keeps on going.
I believe the concept of Amiibo is great and has been well implemented, but apart from the unexceptable stock issues, what also frustrates is how Nintendo advertises and markets Amiibo but you can't get hold of the damn things. It's like they're teasing and messing with us.
@Quorthon - that's completely irrelevant in this case. That's NOA doing something different to NOE; they're their own separate bodies who make their own decisions. This is a third party treating one region differently from another. And considering Megaman is well renowned for being on Nintendo systems, I can understand the dissatisfaction.
Nintendo create the freshest and original shooter in years, if not ever, but still people complain because it doesn't include features that other FPS shooters have. It's like they want to play COD with Nintendo skin. These are probably the same people who want Nintendo to make a PS with Nintendo skin - it ain't ever gonna happen.
When will these people realise that Splatoon is different. And being different means not having the things that the million and one COD clones does have.
@A01 - When they say 2015 they really mean the fiscal year of 2015. So April 2015 to April 2016.
I agree about E3 though - these directs don't cover anything that major, just a few details here & there on some. Rather than waste valuable E3 time they've done a micro direct.
And considering Game had it's shipment stolen in Europe, this is extremely good news. Who knows, perhaps that shipment may have pushed Splatoon to number one, assuming the Game pre-orders are not part of the sales figures.
It's a fantastic game and I love it. I really hope it does well.
It's hard to imagine that Mario Maker is going to be the only Mario plat-former released during this celebratory year. A full-on new title or remake is surely going to announced at E3. Btu please, none of the "New" series.
Looks like the America & Canada got a rough deal when it comes to pricing. The game, on it's own, can be bought for £26 here in the UK.
That being said, too many people complain about pricing. If it's fun and gives hours of entertainment, which Splatoon will deliver in spades, then what does it matter how much it costs, within reason!!
@rennandovale - I completely agree. Though I'm not sure if it's stupidity , ignorance or both. The whole point of a test is to find any potential issues before go-live. So when go-live comes there aren't any issues. All software development goes through this.
These idiots claiming to cancel pre-orders "gamers that live in a bubble and think their opinions are fact", I say to them. "Good, get lost, the rest of us are glad you've gone".
The hardest thing for Nintendo to do is beat last year's E3, which was outstanding, and with a delayed Zelda, that's going to be harder. But a Metroid and a F-Zero or other neglected IP reveal could make up for it.
A positive step in the right direction. This financial year will be particularly challenging though, with none of their big hitters due; Zelda may not come in time. Splatoon and X will help but it's going to be tough.
Would love to know how Sony's and Microsoft's console divisions compare to Nintendo's???
There are only three things to make the VC perfect.
1: Release more games more frequently regularly 2: Make the games cross platform across generations and with the home and handhelds 3: Reduce the prices by 30%
There can be a case for all of these games...except for FIFA. The fact that it's the longest running sports series is irrelevant because the gameplay is terrible, and has mostly been bettered by PES over the years. It's only popular due to its official license.
This is a tad confusing. I was new to the FE series with Awakening like a lot of people. However, I played it using the classic mode, albeit with the normal difficulty and not casual mode. I racked up 45 hours to complete but spend over 80 in total.
@FragRed - that pretty much sums it up, plus kidz tend to buy X1 and adults more the PS4, at least here in the UK.
This sort of promotion would never happen across Europe due to all the different localisations. What may work in the UK won't necessarily work in Germany. So each region does their own thang...
Since the game was going to be based on the Mushroom, I can see a DLC pack containing Mario and his crew, and then possibly other Nintendo franchises similar to Smash and now MK.
Not sure how I feel about this. Maybe a bad idea but it could happen.
There is a lot of chatter for HD or 3D remakes and for once, I agree with the cynics, that there is enough remakes and not enough new material. However, if there is one game that deserves the HD paintjob it's SM64, and it appears many millions of others do.
Come on Nintendo, give us what we want...Please....
Finally. Nintendo UK have finally realised that they need some help.
John Lewis is highly successful, and the Virgin Media ads are pretty good too. With Splatoon looking like a fantastic new IP, expectations must be high for May & June.
I'm very excited about Splatoon, and as a usually non-online player, though MK8 is slowly changing that, this is the sort of game that's making me want more of online. The lack of voice chat suits me very well but can understand those who want it. That being said, lack of voice chat shouldn't be a deal breaker. Gameplay should always be core reason to buy a game, and Splatoon looks like it has it in spades. I find it very sad that people wouldn't buy a game just because it didn't include voice chat.
How successful it is will be down to how Nintendo markets this game. With MK8 and SSB4 Nintendo didn't really need to do very much as they're already established franchises, but with this new IP they really need to push the boat out on this one. But this is Nintendo.
The evidence used to draw this conclusion is weak at best.
TP was released at the end of the GCN life cycle, a typical Nintendo five years. We're currently smack bang in the middle of the Wii U's five year life cycle. Sure Zelda U has been delayed to 2016 but that is not evidence to suggest Nintendo is winding down the Wii u.

But lets stick with April, the 3DS has Xenoblade, Bravely Second and Puzzles & Dragons amongst others. These three, however, have real chances or being major successes.
Sony has Mortal Kombat X and the Dark Souls 2!! That's nice for Sony, but what has that got to do with Nintendo sales...
@ricklongo - I'm in complete agreement about your comments over the Wii. It wasn't luck at all, just Nintendo at their best who understood the market at that time. Ignorant gamers like to say this because it wasn't a "typical" console. It's much like how Sony got it right with incorporating a DVD player with the PS2.
Nintendo have been in the home video console business for over 30 years and have released six generations, and led been the market leader in three of them. Being correct and the best 50% of the time in over thirty years means they know what their doing. Sure they make mistakes and odd decisions at times, but they do know what their doing and are a hugely successful company.
I also disliked the Wii and didn't like where it was going. I only had it for six months.
Couldn't agree more. Playing this game or others like this will not change one's attitude towards women, much like playing violent games doesn't make murdering psychopaths.
People's attitudes and traits comes from education, experiences as a child, and to some extent their genes.
Where this writer falls down in her argument, not that she had one to start with in my opinion, is labelling anyone with any involvement with this game s "guilty of having a very "stale" view of women.
All her prejudice comments do is make her out to be a massive hypocrite.
There are not many with arrogance such as this. To claim other people are ignorant when you're own ignorance is clear to see is hypocrisy at its best. Try reading the article first and understand what it's trying to say.
I own the Cityslicker for my 3DS XL and it's fantastic. I highly recommend one. High quality materials and high quality workmanship, and looks great for those who want a more 'adult' case.
The case I own also fits the New 3DS XL as well. It is a bit more snug but I think it's fine.
