Just the standard Switch edition for me, but that trailer looks awesome. Very looking forward to this one - could actually be my first Switch purchase of the year.
Edit: actually it won't be the first, Mario Tennis will be since DS remastered was delayed. But all my Switch interests are in the second half of year, which will be tough on the purse strings.
If there's one rumour, from the past, that I wished to be true was the VC Mother 3 Wii U Western release, that Emily whatshername reported. Now that VC is all but gone the chances of owning a western copy of M3 are truly low.
@Anti-Matter - oh yes, the button colours are soooo important when buying a console, and of course the N64 was such an ugly beast. Rather than focusing on the most important aspect...games.
I'm glad @Jon raised the point about the 3DS remakes, this is a point I made on the recent name registering article. Granted not everyone who will want an N64 mini will own a 3DS, but considering three of the best games can be played with superior versions the value of an N64 Mini becomes reduced.
I concur with many that without Rare games and a handful of other third party games never likely to appear, EG - The Star Wars games, coupled with the fact that superior versions of three of the better/best games can be played on the 3DS makes an N64 a hard sell.
Since they want to put more Switches into more homes it's a great idea; the more options the better. That price though...considering what the dock costs on it's own it's very anti-consumer. The savings just aren't worth it.
Then there's the question of charging it, especially on the move. "Oh, that's right, buy an extra charger, which here in the UK is £25 for an official one". What savings are we supposed to be making!!
The Nintendo E3 direct has become my favourite event in the gaming calendar. Even though sometimes it doesn't meet my personal hopes and wishes it's still a great watch.
@Damo - oh, I'm sure it will be challenging, but it's not like multiple events haven't happened on the same day before. We have bigger disruptions with strikes and maintenance works and they occur much more frequently. Plus no couple, regardless of stature, should change the biggest day of their lives because of a football match.
@Dezzy - what about my post isn't true? There isn't anything in that article that supports or denies what I said. Just because someone may support the monarchy doesn't mean they are obsessed by it, those are two different things. I think the monarchy is good for the country, doesn't mean I have to like them.
@Heavyarms55 - the real obsession is with the media, not necessarily with the public. Sure, there are plenty of people who love the royals but it's no where near as much as you think. Personally, I care nothing for them, don't hate them, don't love love. It's the media's obsession I can't stand.
@NintendoLife - "which strikes us as pretty poor planning" is that meant to be a joke or ironic?
If I ever get a Warriors game it will be the Fire Emblem version since, from what I've read here on NL, has more depth than the Hyrule version. But only if I run out of Switch games to play and that isn't happening anytime soon.
Though I would prefer a brand new F-Zero entry and a brand new Star Fox entry I would welcome such a mash-up, it actually sounds like it could work really well. Plus, when has Retro let us down!!!!!!
Personally, I think these retro style games are great and Alwa's Awakening is definitely one to consider. Though I do echo some of the comments above that it would be great to have more 16 bit style games; since it was the golden age of gaming.
So $20 roughly means it will be £17, which is £1.40 a month. So for less than a decent large size chocolate bar there isn't much too complain about.
For me though, there is only a handful of NES games I would consider playing these days, and with an SNES Mini, I doubt there there will be many SNES games I would play either, when they eventually turn up.
So yeah, it's cheap, but could be fairly limited for some people. So I would to see some extras, like discounts for eShop purchases or physical discounts on the nintendo.co.uk store.
With so many great games available in my backlog, and with so few changes, I see little reason to double dip. Easy pass. But I'm glad DKCTF has got a second chance to shine.
Just Mario Tennis, Ys Viii and Wolfie 2 for me (seems strange Ys and W2 were omitted from the above list, considering they've featured heavily at NL). Will get Steam2 and Owlboy when they drop a bit.
Slightly disappointed about the Dark Souls delay but at least there's something to go with Octopath in the summer.
I'm not usually one to complain about pricing, but considering this is £5.49 on the Wii U virtual console this Switch release is vastly overpriced, the extras just aren't worth it. It's not published by Nintendo so it will drop in price after three or four months. Sub £15 and I'll bite.
My Switch is in for repairs so it's just RE7 on the PS4 and Bayonetta2 on the WiiU. With the family away this weekend it's a good opportunity to play some mindless violence, for a change.
Looking at this objectively, it would make sense to something as big as Pokémon to continue the impressive Switch sales. Although there are some good titles coming up, there isn't a major player. Nintendo need to keep up the momentum.
EDIT: Actually, there is also Smash, but it could be a port, plus one big title for the year is not enough.
My birthday, 24th May, present to myself is ruined - "slams Switch on the ground".
In all seriousness, I'd rather have a delayed working release than a buggy on-time release with a huge day one patch making a retail purchase pointless.
On the WiiU, Nintendo's retro titles always dominated the charts, I reckon Nintendo have deliberately kept their retro titles off the eShop to allow the Nindies to thrive. And thriving they are.
Nintendo needs to keep third parties happy, so if keeping them happy which in turn leads to more third party support then the Switch virtual console can stay away. It's not like there aren't alternatives to play these games.
I’m finally on the final boss of Persona Q, which should be completed this week. So I’ve now got my teeth into Mario Odyssey and Mario & Rabbids. If I get time I may join a few splatfest games.
@rjejr - Yes that's right, a $60 game translates to a £50 game. Though a game on the Nintendo store will always be RRP, and some stores follow this, but many others will sell it around 20% cheaper. So unless you want these little extras, you'd be crazy buying at Nintendo or GAME.
So when you see complaints about the prices, for the UK at least they are completely pointless and irrelevant because the articles will always mention the RRP.
It is a fact that to become a murderer one either has to have that ability to passed on through genes or something so drastic in ones life, like sexual abuse. These incidents have nothing to do with video games. A gamer doesn't play some shooter and thinks "hang on, what would happen if I really did this in real life" and then does it.
It is also a fact that video games have age ratings. Violent games are not designed for children. If a child plays a violent game then the content isn't at fault, just bad parenting. Linking your students to 18+ games is nonsensical since they shouldn't be playing them in the first place.
It is also a fact that video games are just a modern means for entertainment, like music, TV, films, theatre, plays that have preceded them and have been around for centuries. Even Shakespeare, one of the greats, has violent mature themes in his plays. Should we ban Shakespeare because of this? There are different themes for different people for all ages in all of these.
Your constant rhetoric is really becoming tiresome now. And comparing violent games as toxic like cancer, as you've done in the past, is actually rude, insulting and very ignorant.
It would take far more resources and time to create an HD Switch port, whereas a 3DS port can be done with minimal effort. This can then allow Nintendo to fully concentrate for that hopeful LM3 for the Switch.
The game can be pre-ordered in lots of UK stores. £49 seems to be the RRP but can be had for £45, thegamecollection.net.
Prices do vary in the UK so having a tantrum on what the US is charging is daft, and if you pay RRP when cheaper options are available then you've only got yourself to blame.
That being said, I can see why Nintendo prices their own published games at the highest level, they value their AAA games regardless of age, but ports shouldn't be priced as the same as new releases. If new games RRP at £49 then ports should be no more than £39.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE - So it started out development after 3D world. Here's a FACT for you, the Switch started development after the Wii U was released in 2012. So yes, Nintendo would've had a clue as per it's pecs and so it's logical to assume SMO was always intended for the Switch, and this article confirms that.
So Wii U owners are not suffering as SMO was never intended for them. Get over it
@SLIGEACH_EIRE - what if one doesn't own the Wii U version or a Wii U. The benefits far out-way negatives. If your sole purpose is keeping games for monetary reasons, then being against ports is a really selfish attitude.
These ports are actually helping to drive Switch sales, which in turn means more 1st and 3rd party support in the future for US all to benefit from.
Thank goodness I've held off purchasing XC2. Although I'm still waiting for framerate and portable improvements the improvements so far all seem good. I look forward to when it's finally complete.
@Shiryu - same here. The impulsiveness, child like part of me wants this now but the other adult sensible part says wait until I have the spare funds when I won't get in trouble with my wife, and then a possible better revised version may exist to reward my patience.
Only Kirby peeks my interest; my Bayo first print edition means no double dip. But I still have Skyrim and XC2 to pick up so I'm all good for some time.
For a second there, I thought someone was having a laugh and ported Mario Kart 64 to the Switch and replaced the karts and characters with vomit inducing cuteness.
And here we thought that MyNintendo was Nintendo trying to join the 21st Century with an excellent reward program with great on-line facilities and cross-buy etc., but all its turned out to be is a cost cutting exercise by removing the vastly superior ClubNintendo. Shameful.
