Considering the current climate, and the tech involved, £396 is pretty good. Anything more than £400 would be challenging. But £70+ MSRP for a game...ouch. Thankfully us brits have good competition so it should be closer to £65, shopping at the right places.
I played tropical freeze on the Wii U but not this game, so definitely picking it but not for a few months. Still need to get Pikmin 4 and Radiant Silvergun first.
Kid Icarus was the first game I owned, a Christmas present when I was 10 or 11. But it was definitely the North American version I received here in the UK.
I don't have an Xbox and don't plan to have one. I don't have GP and don't plan to subscribe. Although I do have Ori & Cuphead, there is simply no way I feel, want or desire to be part of BS Phil's community.
He's basically saying if you game, no matter the platform, you're part of Xbox. Such utter arrogance.
The only reason I can think of for Nintendo not re-realising Zelda WW and TW is because the Wii U versions were already ports. It doesn’t sit well with them. All the other Switch Wii U ports were brand new entries, if memory serves.
I sold my Wii U versions, as I needed some cash, in the hope the Switch does get them. Who knows. I never thought we’d get TTYD as Nintendo has never released ports of the Paper Mario series before, and here we are.
It was really awful, outside of what was already known. The only thing not making it a total waste is TTYD. A game I’ve been looking forward to for a very long time, given how highly rated it is.
The original FZero is one of my all time favs but I can’t help feel it deserves better than a 99 version. Though if that gets us a full, proper new game then I’m down with that.
I didn’t play a single game where I thought the Wii remote was an asset. The best thing about Metroid Prime Remastered was the ability to play with traditional controls.
Personally I wasn’t very impressed. Too much filler, too much DLC and a lot of very similar games. And Mario Wonder looked very disappointing, insofar as it isn’t moving Mario 2D forward enough. 3D Mario’s are very different but 2D just look stale now.
I’m very glad for Mario RPG though, Pikmin 4 looks great and Metal Gear is very welcome. My daughter may love Peaches, so that’s good.
I’m admittedly torn on this. I reluctantly got the digital version as I’m strictly physical, but I loathe double dipping. I’ve nothing against LRG but import taxes hurt. And I sold off my limited game purchases as I ended up hoarding them, half got standard retail releases and I got disillusioned with the whole concept. I also needed the cash.
It looks fabulous and I can’t wait, but it’ll have to wait with TOTK around the corner and with little gaming time, Zelda comes first. Maybe in the summer along with Pikmin and Ghost Trick, assuming they release a UK physical.
I received the "Back in stock" email on Sunday and bagged a copy on Monday, but by the evening it appeared all sold out, as it does now. Bit late with the article?
I gave it a 10, and I've only just pre-ordered it. Only thing I didn't like about the Wii Trilogy version was the annoying controls, so having more traditional ones in this remaster is the main reason I'm gonna replay this. I never reply games these days; too many great games and little time
It looks chuffing lovely. I never pre-order, but with that fabulous price, and those 'spread the cost plans', I'm going all in with Zelda too, and may order Cuphead all at the same time.
I paid £7.15 for a pint of Neck Oil in the pub after work last night. If there is a £10 increase it won’t be a good look, but it’s nothing to cry about.
Always physical when possible, and my Trilogy version will be listed on a well known auction site later today. Fingers crossed 2 and 3 get the same treatment.
But why can’t you say, “here’s the UK/EU version, the US version is the same”.? 🙄
It was pretty crap to be honest. Outside what was already known, Pikmin 4, Zelda, OT II, Advance Wars, which all looked superb, there was nothing to get excited about…except Metroid, and Ghost Trick, and maybe Baten Kaitos. But these are all ports. Nothing new that looked good.
I was prepared to get a DS Ghost Trick but a Switch version is very welcome. Phendrana Drifts in bed, with the headphones on and proper normal controls…here, we go! Can’t wait.
The takeaway for me is that a Switch2 is a long way off. The power requirements for a portable device to run something semi-powerful just isn’t there yet.
As has mentioned already, context is key here. $4000 for 2 days work or 4 x 1/2 days would be pretty great. The key part is how much is paid per hour and what country it’s in. That being said, should playing the lead role in a multi million selling game earn more? Maybe, maybe not. I don’t have the details and nor do I care.
But that issue is hers and hers alone with her employer. No matter the industry, the type of role, the country the company is in, there’ll always be someone complaining. I’m not going to not get a game from one persons complaint, even though Platinum games are far from my favourite dev/pub especially with getting into bed with Tencent. Only the reviews will change my mind.
Splatoon…Splatoon…and more Splatoon. Nothing else is gonna get a look in for the next two months at least. My physical Deaths Door may get a chance when it arrives.
Ploughing through CrossCode; it’s got its hooks in me now. Just beat the first dungeon and will try and complete before Splatoon 3 drops. Got the game on pre-order, and I never pre-order.
I was never a fan of Wave Race, but seeing how the PAL port was useless that may explain why.
Just completed Control: Ultimate Edition so it’s either Cross Code or SMT IV next to start. Though with XC3 around the corner, the original is begging for me to restart it and try again. Got 20 hours in last time before giving up.
Doesn’t it seem odd that Nintendo is looking to “buy back shares”, but then an organisation acquires one of the largest stakes in the company? I guess they bought shares already available from other shareholders but it seems counter productive of Nintendo’s aims. I’m no expert on this topic.
Maybe Nintendo will buy them back from the PIF at a later stage. And let’s hope they do.
Should finish Ori and the Blind Forest by the end of the weekend. Tough, a little unfair at times, but great game. Not sure what to take on next. Maybe finish Astral Chain, hasn’t been touched in 9 months, or start one of many RPGs in the backlog. Fire Emblem and Valkyrie 4 are waving at me.
I have all XBs except 2 but the series has yet to grab me by the dogs Crown Jewels. I played 1 for 30h and got stuck and then distracted. And X was too overly complicated for my tastes.
So I must give XB1 definitive edition a try after finishing my current playlist. I really wanna dive in before 3 is released.
I see this and other acquisitions linked to what Spenser said about cloud companies penetration into gaming, and that they’re the real threat. So the more traditional gaming companies gobbling up other traditional gaming companies, the less they appear on Stadia etc.
They’re basically trying to wipe Google, Amazon and Apple between them.
Best game of the direct for me. May have to drag The Messenger off the backlog of shame shelf now. Though I was tempted to start Hollow Knight after completing Matroid Dread.
Not being a huge fan of the franchise, and I’m only interested in the 80s version, it’ll be a generous price drop before I bite. Plus my backlog pile of shame shows no sign of decreasing.
I can handle a barebones port and lack of options, but poor input lag is totally unacceptable. These are games for the purists, and messing them up deserve every criticism. But will I pony up for the SLG version? Hmm…
Will get it after payday next week. Hopefully WarGroove will be completed by then, at least the main single player playthrough, with half the side-quests.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?
Best direct by a country mile. Top Nintendo games, superb third party titles and fabulous indies.

Eurogamer have fallen so far nothing they say now is credible. Only their association with DF is the only positive they have.

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 For The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
Since I live in the UK I won’t be purchasing Zelda in $. For non US gamers the poll is really pointless.
Re: Quiz: Which Of These Games Is On Switch?
17/24. Not too bad, much better than the PushSquare quizzes. And a couple I clicked the wrong answer by mistake.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Worst Game That You Still Love For Some Reason?
Even though it’s been decades, the only ones I can think of are Faxanadu and the Goonies 2 on the NES.
The only real gem for me the last 10 years is Splatoon. IT makes me think I’m 14 not 41. Amazing game

Re: GoldenEye 007 Is Returning To Nintendo Switch
Finally a reason to get the expanded Switch online. Not much in the direct for me, besides Fire Emblem, Pikmin and Zelda other than this nugget.
Why is it whenever there's an article about Goldeneye somone has to go on how badly it has aged? Gee, give it up.
Re: Poll: Splatoon 3 Is Now Available For Nintendo Switch, Are You Getting It?
TheGameCollection posted yesterday and is due to arrive today, which should happen since The Royal Mail called off their strikes.
Won’t jump in until I finish work later this afternoon sadly.

Re: Best Mario Kart Games Of All Time
I personally found MK64 truly awful, and completely missed the point of what made the original so charming.
Agreed that the series has become stale.
Re: Poll: So, How Do You Pronounce 'Live A Live'?
Weirdly, I say it as “Life a live”. Makes more sense to me than Live a live.

Re: Soapbox: After 25 Years, Pokémon Legends: Arceus Will Be My First Pokémon Game
I remember when the very first Pokemon was advertised on UK TV; wasn't interested in it then and not interested in it now and never will be.
It is funny though, I also have zero interest in Smash and Animal Crossing. It's all about Zelda, Mario, Splatoon and Mario Kart for me.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate Nintendo's 2021?
7 for me. Any year with Metroid, with the exception Fed'Force, is going to be a good one at the very least.
Some other nuggets but too many ports and not enough top-tier titles.
