Re: Nintendo Cuts Its 20 Million Switch Hardware Sales Target Despite Incredible Holiday Season Performance

@jockmahon have they? I missed that when I skimmed the report this morning.

OK - that's good (because they are making money) and bad (because they are not great at forecasting).

Anyway - I think most people just want the Switch to be a viable platform so that we can enjoy great games for years to come. With today's news, the Switch has had 2 successful holiday seasons with this year being better than last. This should remove any doubts around the system being a success.

@WOLF13 well, yes and no. No forecast is ever 100% accurate - and investors know this. Missing a forecast by low-balling is also a miss (Nintendo mispredicted Switch sales last year by a very wide margin and have needed to revise their software units upwards with this update). Nintendo have stated that their full year revenue and profit guidelines have not been revised.

I think Nintendo have been very open with their targets and communicating to the investor community. I know thinks there's any serious question to answer when you revise down your unit sale projections when you are 75% through the year.

Re: Gaming Analysts Predict 'Switch Pro' And 'Switch Lite' Revisions For 2019

I know 'analysts' need to write stuff but I think a Lite model is pie-in-the-sky. Nintendo may redesign the Switch if they can reduce costs but I simply cannot see any reason why they would be looking at introducing a lower price SKU when the current model is (a) selling better than last year; and (b) hasn't had a price drop.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

JamesR

I always buy digital (went this way during the Wii U years). Having your entire library with you is so convinient, especially when using the Switch as a handheld.

I feel the benefits of physical are diminishing with the advent of DLC, large day 1 patches and "Internet connection required". It seems, more and more, that the physical release is not much more than a game license on a disc/card (I admit that this is less true for Nintendo first party games).

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th December (Europe)

I really need to stop buying third party games on Day 1. I picked up Diablo III but haven't managed to play it yet. As a Nintendo guy, I'm really not used to games dropping by a 1/3 within a month.
