Nintendo Goes Discount Crazy With More Than 600 Games Now On Sale In Europe

I wish this happened in the US more often.

Lots of good options here. Think I am most tempted by Banner Saga. Now do I just get number 1 to test the water or jump in for the whole trilogy?

I keep wondering if Nintendo just hates North America in general. The EU always gets better sales, more content everything.

And still no Celeste!
I'm starting to think that they might be waiting to coincide a discount with its one-year anniversary.

Nothing for me, all of the big discounts are on games that I own or don't interest me.

I'd recommend Octopath Traveller though! It's worth it's full price so there's no excuse when it's on sale

Since I only have 3DS and WiiU it's pretty meh.

Oh Starlink is half off! Also the physical edition via a local retailer. This seems like a good time to make the plunge.

@ViewtifulJotun hard to tell, but I would suggest to buy the first one. I really liked and enjoy the first, but I left 2 and 3 in wishlist. If you don´t like the first I´m sure you are not going to enjoy the others...gameplay wise they are almost the same.

@misterMike Actually i just checked and the NA one doesnt seem too bad this time. Normally the EU get some of the higher end games on sale whereas NA gets a crap load of Indies and not much else. Nintendo seems to have an issue with quantity over quality, unfortunately. Th amount of Android and iPhone games on Switch is staggering and most are utter garbage at 4 times the price.

Wow, Octopath gets a 40% discount! That's quite a lot less. It's tempting me now...

@earthinheritor It's not that we get worse sales because Nintendo hates us. It's that they don't need the sales to convince the US to spend endless money on garbage phone games...we apparently buy them anyway.

There's at least a couple that aren't live in the store yet (as far as I can see anyway) - Octopath Traveller is still showing as full price as is Pato Box...

@misterMike and as we all know by now, Nintendo almost never discount first party. I picked up Odysee a few weeks back as it was the first time i had ever seen it on sale in the entire year of its release. I like my Switch but thats why i will also pick my PS4 over it. I know that AAA titles will drop in price within a few months and i cannot afford a full $80 price tag of new releases in Canada.

Just banner saga for me. Been wanting to play it for ages. Glad I held out now.

I recommend Thumper for €8, it's my #3 favourite game on Switch (after BotW and Hollow Knight). I'm considering picking up Mario + Rabbids for €20.

I want Starlink but the physical edition seems cheaper. However I'm confused between what you get with the physical edition VS the digital one. Maybe I'll just try Star Fox Zero in Wii U first.

@wazlon The digital version is a better deal content wise. The deluxe version includes everything I believe, and when it's on sale, it's a LOT cheaper than buying all the toys that would unlock the same content.

@wazlon physical has 2 planes (one digital, on physical), 2 pilots and a couple of weapons where as the digital versions have at least 5 planes or all of them, with more weapons and pilots to start with.

Progressed enough with backlog and Smash for a Mega Man 11 purchase. Shame it was eshop only for Europe.

Yay for Civ 6, I can finally experience getting a game a couple weeks before it shaves 30% off the price! 😂 No regrets, though. And there's juicier stuff anyway - on top of at least 3 titles I have been eyeing since last week, now there are L.A. Noire, Escapists, Child of Light, Okami Yoku's Island Express... even a big Starlink discount which looks like it'll live to see my next payday as well. These will be crazy days.

@String If you're referring to the vague post by a user that joined GameFAQs this month and posted guesses, yes I saw it. I also saw that another user bumped that post with a link to a Youtube video in which someone talks about that very post.
This is garbage speculation, and posting multiple times about it in the comment section of articles is just foolish.

If there were an actual discussion to be had about it, the Smash thread in the forums would be the place.

Time to power up the Wii U. Assassins Creed III, Rayman Legend, Splinter Cell, and may even pick up Black Flag even though have on PS4. Cheers UbiSoft. Plus Okami on Switch.

Yea none of the UbiSoft dlc is on sale, not even the Wii U dlc. Does shorten what I'm getting to Splinter Cell, Rayman Legends, and Okami. But I'll add Capcom Beat em up.

@derrin Thanks for the information. Without the discount Starlink is a very expensive game if you want all the content. The cheaper price now makes it similar to most other retail games. Still not sure if I'd rather just get Smash though.

@earthinheritor I agree. Gaming on a budget is much easier on PS4 because the AAA’s drop price by a lot. Here in the UK I just wait a year (or less) and can buy the game that would be £45 on launch for £10 to £15 on a sale. And because I don’t have as much time to game as I used to, I always have a backlog of great games anyway so waiting is easy.

On Switch, however, I know I have to spend money for the main games as their price doesn’t drop. So I buy all first party games full price (or near enough) and any 3rd party multiplatform games I want I buy on PS4. That’s why I have more games on my PS4. But I still love my Switch and Nintendo.

I might have in and get Battle Chased, been eyeing this game for a while, but on the other hand, I am stocked up on games. I guess I make it a "Depends on what I get for Christmas!". This title and the already reduced Meha Man 11. Already made me a reminder on my phone!

Its times like this I wished the eShop had a shopping basket function.

@IceEarthGuard I've noticed it's been on sale in the US a couple of times, that's part of the reason why I'm confused why it's never been on sale in Europe.

I did get Golf Story in a sale earlier this year but have only seen it on sale once since release.

There is a sale in NA for the eShop. Didn't count the games, but there are easily over hundreds of titles on sale. Some of the same ones on this list are on sale too.

I went to buy Octopath Traveller and it is not actually on sale. How disappointing.

This sale is pitiful compared to the PS store one going on at the moment. As always, Nintendo’s sale is littered with shovelware. Meanwhile you can pick up recent games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider at more than half price across on PS sale!

@Cosats Dont get me wrong I love Indie games, some of them make my list of favorite games easily. But on the Switch its extremely hard to sort the good from the bad. How many damn times have I seen Astro bears own the front page of the eshop. I'm not saying that there aren't good Indie games I'm saying its extremely hard to find the good ones. I always find myself looking at youtube videos for reviews and then going to the eshop specifically to find the good ones. The same low price garbage games always appear at the front of the eshop because they are cheap while the good ones are buried. It's a pretty common complaint. Even when you look at Youtube video talking about consoles and the UIs and shop that's always a good eshop complaint is having to siphon through the shovelware.
