Re: Nintendo Switch Continues to Dominate in Japan

JamesR

We need Animal Crossing, Pokemon, YoKai Watch and Style Savvy on the Switch for full domination!

In all seriousness, I love seeing the Switch succeeding. I don't need it to outsell the PS2, Wii or DS. It just needs to be a viable platform. And boy is it.

@Mikess1 Thanks. Maybe I was too quick (I was in touch with them on Thursday/Friday). Hopefully the sheer volume of complaints have flagged this as a serious issue. I honestly feel Nintendo should pull the game - having this for sale in this state is damaging Nintendo and the Switch.

@Angelic_Lapras_King I contacted Nintendo regarding this game (which I purchased on eShop). Unfortunately, a refund was not forthcoming.

But I recommend anyone disappointed with their purchase contact Nintendo.

This isn't a case of "the game is bad" or "I didn't enjoy the game as much as expected". This game is broken and the eShop shouldn't be complicit.

Re: Review: WWE 2K18 (Switch)

@Turbo857 absolutely true.

I have both games (both from launch) and to compare WWE 2K18 to pre-patch NBA 2K18 is just silly. NBA 2K18 arrived in a good state with the main bugs in the MyCareer mode. WWE 2K18 is an absolute disaster with the vast majority of the game being unplayable.

Sadly, we need to differentiate a game that doesn't run well (Rime) or has bugs (NBA 2K18) with this pile of rubbish.

WWE 2K18 cannot be saved.

Re: Review: WWE 2K18 (Switch)

Got the game on day 1. Absolutely burned by this pile of crap. I am astonished that they chose to release this. I am also surprised that it's still listed on the eShop - Nintendo should pull this as soon as possible.

To be clear: this isn't anywhere near a playable state. Those hoping for a NBA 2K18-like patch will be disappointed.

I won't be picking up games like this (i.e. published by 2K) on Day 1 again. I hope this isn't what people want they when they ask for third party support.

Re: Reminder: Join Us for The Game Awards - Here's Hoping for Nintendo Wins and Reveals!

JamesR

I don't think any new games will be announced by Nintendo. They have a very clear message at the moment: "The Switch is great. It has Zelda, Mario, Splatoon 2 and other great games. Buy it for Christmas."

Announcing games for next year will just blur the message. And frankly there is no need to hear about Smash, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Kirby, Yoshi, Mario Maker etc...

Re: We Can't Ignore The Switch, Says Sony's Head Of Corporate Planning

JamesR

I think this is less about hardware and more about how well the software on Switch is selling. We are often seeing Nintendo dominating the software charts. Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart and Splatoon 2 have been huge sellers and even games like Pokken, ARMS and even 1-2-Switch remain in the charts many months after release. Throw in Pokemon, Dragon Quest or Monster Hunter and this starts to get scary.

Re: Out Today: WWE 2K18 Spears Its Way Onto Nintendo Switch

JamesR

@garydbz25 not a fan of physical releases. As mentioned, I generally rely on the digital being close to the physical price (I know I pay a digital tax).

But the fact that on release day there can be nearly a 50% discrepancy between physical and digital makes it extremely likely that I won't but another 2K game on release date.

Re: Out Today: WWE 2K18 Spears Its Way Onto Nintendo Switch

@Bod2019 we're the same age!

I've been primarily a Nintendo gamer and am just getting used to the idea of DLC. I've bought 4 DLC packs on Switch: Zelda, Xenoblade, Snipperclips and WWE.

Snipperclips DLC was basically a second game made after the huge reception of the original. Zelda/Xenoblade fall into my category of "I love this project and am happy to support it" - I have not yet been burnt by Nintendo and give them the benefit of the doubt.

WWE is different. I was really looking forward to the game and realise that this could be the only WWE I play for a decade. On balance, I chose to jump all-in. But... it is clear that they are keeping content from the game to sell back to you. 2K are not EA but they are close.

Re: Out Today: WWE 2K18 Spears Its Way Onto Nintendo Switch

JamesR

@Bod2019 this may be a tangential issue but I place a premium on buying digital. So I'm generally happy to spend an extra £5-10 for the digital version. I almost never want to sell my games so the resale value never enters my consideration.

Nintendo games don't tend to get discounted very quickly. This generally pushes me into picking up the game on Day 1 safe in the knowledge that I'm not hugely losing out.

However, 2K have slightly annoyed me on two fronts. NBA 2K18 was hugely discounted (by 1/3 I believe) within a few months of release and while still patching the game. This makes it extremely likely that I won't pick up NBA 2K19 on Day 1. Likewise, the fact that WWE 2K18 is £35 on Amazon is a little hard to swallow.

Re: Out Today: WWE 2K18 Spears Its Way Onto Nintendo Switch

Another criticism of this game (not limited to the Switch version) is that the commentary is really clunky.

I've been out of the loop with sports games since the GameCube and was blown away by the commentary on NBA 2K18. It felt real and very fluid. WWE 2K18 is nowhere near this.
