Nintendo has confirmed Yoshi's Crafted World for the Nintendo Switch will launch on 29th March 2019. In celebration of the announcement, a new story trailer has been uploaded. Here's the description:
It all started when Kamek and Baby Bowser set out to steal a gem-set stone. Legend has it that this fabled artifact can grant the bearer their wildest dreams! But when the artifact’s gems are sent flying, it falls upon Yoshi and friends to find them.
And here's a little bit more information about the game, direct from the Nintendo PR:
In the game, you play as an adorable Yoshi exploring a big world crafted from household items like boxes and paper cups, journeying through each themed stage to solve puzzles and find hidden treasures. On the flip side, stages can be played backward, providing new perspectives to explore and the challenge to find Poochy-Pups that are hiding around the course. You can even join up with a friend to play through the game in two-player co-op. For more information about the Yoshi’s Crafted World game for the Nintendo Switch system
Based on a Japanese eShop listing, the digital version of the game will require 5.3GB of space.

Thought they would save this release date for a January Nintendo Direct. Glad to know it is coming so soon. A solid month earlier than I expected.
.... My sister might get it and I'll play with her. Love these cute Yoshi games. Favorite is still Yoshi Story on the N64.
That release date is pleasantly soon! I hope the game will be good, as I quite enjoyed Woolly World. Last year's Direct trailer looked great, but the more recent Treehouse footage looked a little bland to me. The levels seemed rather simple, even for a Yoshi game, and part of me is scared this could be another repeat of Star Allies. Only time will tell, though. Fingers crossed it's excellent.
I'll probably pick it up but it doesn't really excite me. Nintendo's 2D platformers rarely do these days.
It's great to see this finally get a release date, but it's so strange to see this be announced outside of a Direct. Taking that with all the other news released today, I'm almost doubting we'll see a direct this month at all.
Well this felt random.
Not that I'm complaining because it's great we finally have a date. It's just weird seeing something like this announced outside of a direct.
@Spoony_tech It's up.
Not much of a trailer, but it reminded me of the opening of H. R. Puffenstuff so that's a win.
Why not gameplay footage? ☹️
This game is beautiful. Hopefully the level design is as engaging and challenging as it was in Yoshi's Wooly World.
Great that it got a release date! Don't know if it's a day one purchase though.
Well, well, whadaya know?
A Yoshi game exclusive for the Switch...
"This announcement was brought to you straight from the galaxy of dòh... "
Been waiting for this since it was first announced. Glad we finally have a release date!😁
That's real soon! I'm not watching the trailers though, Woolly World had way too much spoiled too and I want to avoid that this time around. I want to be as surprised as I can with this one. Not even reading the info blurbs.
OMG are those the Infinity Stones? Will we see Thanos in the game??
A little beat to see Kamek and Bowser Jr. as the main villians but the rest of the game looks terrific. Late March is good timing as well. Give me time to play through New Super Mario Bros. U and finish up the rest of my backlog!
Genuinely looking forward to this game. I've never played a Yoshi game I didn't like (yes, including Topsy Turvy).
Oh, this is great news. Fits my schedule nicely!
Great news!
Why they pushed it to the end of March? Didn’t they wanted it to be the final push of their fiscal year?
@rjejr By the time they posted this it was already old news to me lol. Oh and I never heard of that show you posted. I've seen some weird stuff in my day and that is right up there with it.
@Tantani I've already said this over on discord but Yoshi doesn't move systems. Had it been Fire Emblem or Animal Crossing now we're talking. Yoshi is a nice compliment to an already existing fan base. Drop one of those other 2 at the beginning of March then they may push another million or so.
Good to know that the game didn't get pushed back to April like what some retailer listing suggested.
Looks ridiculously cute, love how much creativity oozes out of it
RIP, was hoping Three Houses would be the March slot since they were both scheduled for Spring, and it's unlikely they'll pack 2 big exclusives in one month. FeelsBadMan
@Spoony_Tech Cause you're a youg'un.
H. R. Pufnstuf was the normal one, Lidsville was the weird one.
If it was by Sid & Marty Kroft I watched it. You should be old enough to remember Saturday morning standard Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, no? I think that's the one that lasted the longest and had the most syndication.
I have loved and enjoyed every Yoshi 'mainline' game since Yoshi's Island. Love the chill platforming with the difficult challenges to be accomplished.
I guess in place of Directs, Nintendo just announces things randomly. Anyone else think it's weird that after soooo long holding this game back they just kinda say "here it is"?
Nice, I like the date. It took long, but finally the game is coming.
Now let's see what Nintendo have for April, May and June! I hope to see Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing, really.
@invictus4000 This is absolutely nothing new. Nintendo has always used multiple ways to announce games or release dates. And even Twitter being nothing new here either.
@the_beaver I think that would be waaay too early for Animal Crossing. AC will be a Q4 title. Fire Emblem will be a solid April or May release, though.
@ThanosReXXX at least it confirms it's not coming to the 3DS
Pass.
I'm saving my cash for Wii Fit Trainer's Bulging World.
@sanderev Q4 is for Pokemon and other not-system-sellers titles. I don't think Nintendo will want to release again 2 huge games so close to each other, specially considering this time Pokemon will be very very big, and not just a remake.
In my opinion AC should be out in june/july at the latest.
@the_beaver I don't think the game would be ready in june or july, also I think it's going to be one of the big E3 titles. (Alongside Pokémon and Metroid Prime 4).
I don't think they will release it in the summer (low sales), so Q3 or Q4. Pokémon will take the november slot (as usual). I think AC will be the October game this year. (at the earliest) And Metroid Prime the december title (wishful thinking).
Nintendo has released a single party title (almost) every month since the Switch launch. And it's never more than one as well.
Also Pokémon Let's Go is just as much a system seller as Smash is. (okay maybe not as much) Even Super Mario Party can be considered a system seller. Only difference is the target audience is different.
Well, I hoped for FETH to be their March release but that's okay. Why not in a Direct though
Greatly upsetting news. I had dearly hoped Fire Emblem Three Houses would be the March slot. Sigh. Guess I'm gonna have to wait for May or smth like that now.
@sanderev Hard to say what's going to happen, of course, but it wouldn't be too weird. Remember that Splatoon 2 was released in july, and it sold veeery well.
Plus we haven't seen anything about the game yet. It's probably pretty much done already, and we just don't know lol
@the_beaver Actually the fact that we haven't seen anything could mean they're not ready yet to show anything. Also Splatoon 2 is a fast multiplayer game, summer vacation is a really big time to play a game like that. Making the game perform well in summer.
Animal Crossing could be any season, so a summer release might work as well though
I am looking forward to this game! If only a new Donkey Kong Country would be announced soon, I really hope so!
day one , DAY ONE !!!
Yoshi and Kirby games are usually deemed too easy, and this was the case with Star Allies, but I won't pass on any of them as I did with Yoshi's Story (now very expensive). I won't make that mistake again.
Looks good, but so did Star Allies. Don’t care for easy games.
I absolutely loved Woolly World. I think this will be my next Day 1 purchase.
Looks absolutely wonderful but it looks like they phoned the story in. Standard Gems/keys/whatever objects to collect over different worlds. Nothing new. Will still get it and I’m sure will be lots of fun though.
"Story" trailer. Looks cool tho. SO played through Wooly world recently and enjoyed it quite a bit so if nothing else I'll get this for her at some point.
Well there goes the direct xD my March game is going to be Sekiro :S but I hope April can be fire emblem :3
@WaveBoy loved wario land shake it. That game was beautifully animated as well. Could do with a new wario land to be honest. Been a while.
Well I hope the game turns out better than that trailer - that was so laboured... how long were we staring at Kamek and B.Bowser's gabbing mouths for? Whoever directed that should change career path sharpish.
Looks adorable, but shallow and not especially challenging - a bit like the recent Kirby game. So as much as I like parts of it, I probably won't pick it up. Really hope Metroid isn't too far off, because I'm a bit worried by how few of Nintendo's first party games I'm picking up at the moment.
Really looking forward to this one. I played a lot of the previous entry on Wii U with my wife.
Looks fun. Hope it's harder than Star Allies. Won't bother if it's easy as pie.
@invictus4000 remember that Nintendo announced the Switch reveal trailer 24 hours in advance and they just randomly revealed the system. Every other company would host an event with the press for these kind of events.
Or the reveal of Nintendo Labo which was stating that they were revealing it later that day. In other words: Nintendo gad a perculiar way to reveal things, and they tend to do their own thing.
"Exclusively for the Switch"
Well what else would it release on? ;p
@Tantani Yoshi, along with Kirby and the Mario sports games, are not headliners that sell systems. They're reliable filler for the Switch's catalogue, that build up and make the Switch more attractive in the long run.
The confirmed big hitters this year are Pokemon, and Animal Crossing. But I doubt they'd rush those out just to fit within this fiscal year. I think Daemon X Machina and FE: Three houses might be expected to fill that spot, to a lesser degree, along with any big name ports they can muster.
Day 1. Looks great.
@Heavyarms55 The fact that this trailer isn't part of a Direct makes me think there won't be one for a while.
Well, looks like this is our major announcement for the month - no Direct.
@Regpuppy @Spoony_Tech Animal crossing and Pokémon obviously not coming now.... same is true for FE
Maybe daemon x machina can come and help
We will see
~ The story intro needs a healthy dose of sound effects. It sounds unfinished and empty.
~ I wish Nintendo would either provide voices for their games or animate it in such a way that voices aren't needed. Not only are subtitles disengaging, but it's such a poor decision when they aim many of their games at kids who may not be able to read.
~ Surely they could've come up with a catchier name than "Crafted World".
About time.
Now how about adding Boshi into the mix? lol
@rjejr I guess a few years makes all the difference as I remember none of those. I remember Romper Room and a bit of Captian Kangaroo oh and Soupy Sales.
@WaveBoy "pushing past his 40s my man!"
We'll then I've got a decade on him so he's still a young'un to me. And not knowing H. R. Pufnstuf for a man that age is pretty much inexcusable.
@WaveBoy Lol, you haven't changed a bit. How have you been?
@Spoony_Tech Even 1 or 2 years does make a difference for kids tv. My sons are only 2 1/2 years apart and while they do remember some stuff - we watched a lot of Backyardigans together - there are several shows only 1 or the other watched. Kids shows only seem to last a few years then that's that. Of course there are exceptions. Captain Kangaroo as you said, that lasted awhile, and here in NY at least there was a show called Wonderama that was always on. And Mr. Rodgers, on PBS like Sesame Street, but that's hardly a Saturday morning cartoon, more like the godfather of edutainment.
@rjejr I dont think you have quite a decade on me. 45 here but like you said, that makes all the difference in kids TV.
@Spoony_Tech Romper Room
That triggered something. You woudln't happen to recall a live action show centered around a cottage, or log cabin, in the woods would you?
Ah, light-bulb moment, "Hodge Podge Lodge". The most hippie show ever. Man I probably haven't' thought about this is 20 years, but I remembered the theme song when I heard it. Ahh, childhood innocence. I had scarring teenage years, I forget I had a childhood sometimes. It's nice to remember.
https://karaokegal.livejournal.com/1469275.html
People didn't like this game back when it was in e3 2017. But it has got better since than they clearly listened to complaints. And now its looking like it may even be a day one.
@rjejr Clearly kids tv in New York didn't translate well over here in Detroit lol. Altough being close to Canada we got a lot of their shows like the Friendly Giant and other weird shows like that.
@Spoony_Tech Well a lot of shows were made in NY, PBS is HQ here, and a lot of kids I knew back then were in the TV audience on Wonderama, so it wouldn't surprise me if they got more airtime here via repeat showings than elsewhere in the country so I would know them better than you from repetition. I can't recall a single Canadian show, but we had an Asian channel on 47 on the old UHF antenna that I believe was in Japanese, though it could have been Chinese, Korean, who knows, I was a kid, that had a lot of cool shows like the original Power Rangers. (Quick Wiki check and it was a hodge podge of international programming but I only remember the Asian stuff.)
"Go Ranger", as I called it and told all my friends about it, is one of my best memories from my tween years, probably 11 or 12.
I'll be 54 in July so I'm still calling it a decade.
@sanderev Hm, I see that the concept of sarcastic humor eludes you...
Allow me to explain: the joke was about that it was so amazing that it was coming to a Nintendo system as an exclusive. As if it would have a chance in hell of coming to the Xbox or PlayStation...
Can't wait for this one!
Looks like it has come along since the last time I saw it, that opener has the vibe of a children's tv show about it - it's the old classic thing of Nintendo games getting more and more polish nearer release, whereas on the "AAA" market a lot of times games get more and more pared back.
I look forward to seeing more.
Lol, so was this our Nintendo Direct??
@MoonKnight7 5 bucks we get a March Direct with a reminder about Yoshi coming out at the end of the month.
