All games need to be able to run at a steady 60fps before release.

As I mostly play low spec indie games I have no reason to pick up a switch 2 although I do want to play switch 1 games which didnt run properly (30fps) at some point but I’ll probably do that in a few years.

I’d also love to see a budget version of the switch 2 where it connects to a monitor only and has no handheld component as I have never used this in the last 9 years on my switch 1.

That wasn't a criticism, only my observation, outside of Gran Turismo 7 on PS5 I only play indie and ported retro games and so far from what I've seen is the Switch 2 does this worse than the Switch 1 so it doesn't really feel like an upgrade to me.

This is why I didnt buy a switch 2 at launch and still in no rush for one now. Also is it really a switch 2? Feels more of a switch pro.

I would prefer this for myself over the lego sets

I tried a monster hunter demo once and it just felt like beating to death poor defenceless animals for fire wood for some reason.

@canaryfarmer I'm a bit of a twinstick connoisseur and you'd be surprised how badly some of them run even on PC and modern consoles like PS5. I think it's down to devs using engines which were never designed for that exact purpose, I don't know this for a fact though, only what I've gathered from indie devs speculating on twitter and bluesky.

@OrtadragoonX For me that’s the game. My main game is Gran Turismo. When I play that I like to drive brick shaped American cars with zero aero grip, barely any mechanical grip and way too much power. The easy to drive cars are boring for me. Electric Underground and Esoteric games, the YouTubers do a good videos on this subject. The challenge can be in the character not just in the level/enemies.

I’m just not their target audience anymore. To me resident evil is a survival game with a fixed camera and pre-rendered graphics. These newer games just look like other “action” games to me.

Delete anything with an AI thumbnail, “hentai” in the title or those games which keep getting rereleased with different bundles.

Looks like one of these games which is mostly boring cutscenes separated by dull forgettable gameplay sections.

Xbox has been dead to me since the xbox one (3). They should have called it the 720 and it should have been more of the same from the 360 not significantly worse, what were they thinking.

After gen 1 maybe gen 2 things just got silly imo.

“Special” or “spectacle” as I used to pronounce it. I had no idea what that was until years later. I probably learned to read from pokemon tbh. I could make a list of words which originate from there. Some probably common for others like leer but loads of others too.

That would be amazing but the main issue is compatibility, how are you going to hook up a wheel to the switch 2? Nintendo would need to allow compatibility. GT7 is fine without a wheel but it’s infinitely better with one.

I'm fighting the urge so bad to buy this game.

Nascar 25 on ps5. It’s janky and incomplete af but I like to drive on the tracks before the irl race to get that extra dimension of racing entertainment.

These late famicom/nes games are wild for how advanced they were compared to earlier titles.

For people who say 30fps is fine, if it was fine then these updates wouldn't exist.

I was a huge pokemon fan and when gen 2 came out I didnt like what they did. I never ventured outside of gen 1.

@WheresWaveRace I'm not into 3rd person or 1st person games tbh so they all kind of look samey to me. If it wasn't for the resi set pieces like the umbrella corp logo then I wouldnt have known this was a resi game.

Dunno if I’m just old and stuck in my ways but for me resident evil is a game of pre-rendered graphics with a fixed camera angles, anything which isn't that makes the game feel like any other action game.

Maybe gradius next if this does well?

When a game has a demo it increases my likelihood of purchase by about 1000%. I always want a demo but in reality if every game had one then I’d be bankrupt.

Nothing for me switch 2 wise. All the games I’m looking forward to playing I either already own or are already out. I mostly play indie and retro.

Various gran turismo screens go red and play a sort of mini drum solo. I’ve seen those screens and heard that jingle thousands upon thousands of times over the last 25 years.

Do they still have you driving in a straight line for ages?

I ran home from work. Jumped on a bus to my nearest city at the time. Got to hmv minutes before closing picked this up for £20. Got home and for some reason I kneeled down on my carpet and leaned on my bed thinking I was just going to see how it ran and then find a more comfy position but for some reason I completed the whole game in this weird lurched position.

Is this a new record for shovelware in a single week?

Having a stable framerate of 30fps is like having a stable diet of mcdonalds. It might be stable but it’s horrendous.

Is this to do with the UK’s online surveillance act?

I’ve owned every nintendo console from snes onwards except the switch 2 and tbh it’s sold a lot better than I thought it would. I still cant figure out who or why people buy it. There is very little incentive for me to upgrade other than to play switch 1 games which I couldnt as they didnt run properly with their poor framerates.

The main thin stopping me is the whole thing about it not even running games natively and instead having to emulate and thats where all the jankyness come from.
