@b0nes @Bunkerneath Reminds me of an article I once read that was almost exclusively the names of tropes from TVTropes, so every point in the article, several times per sentence, was effectovely an entire page on another site you needed to read for context.
@Galenmereth "So remind me again why you want us to pay for your online "service", Nintendo?"
Simple. Investors see Sony and MS making money hand over fist for effectively nothing, and since Nintendo is a publicly traded business they need to answer to those demands, plain and simple.
You wouldn't be insane enough to tell the people sending cash your way that no, this free, proven, easy money on the table isn't worth it.
Ever since they mentioned paid online in January 2017, I have noticed this entire thing feels reluctant. Honestly it seems like even Nintendo themselves don't want to do it.
I would care but given its not releasing in this nebulous void that sits east of the US and west of Japan that the games industry hates to acknowledge then I simply cant care.
Given said sites used Nintendo and Mario imagery in their banners etc, basically appropriating a brand to advertise their own, what is by law a software piracy, website...Nintendo is in the right.
Don't steal branding. Especially when you use it to advertise something illegal.
I think people are forgetting the thing we had last week was Europe focused. As in, Nintendo of America didn't mention it. It was Nintendo UK published and presented.
@chemical Yeah it is, but it's a known fact with these service based games, you won't have time for all of them, so whats the point trying to muscle in on a market?
It's like, yeah you could play our MMO instead, but you've already got one and don't have time for two MMOs, Fortnite, Rocket League, Overwatch and numerous other service based titles that keep wanting you to come back.
It's a losing battle and they are wise to not jump in.
Perfectly understandable. There are some games that just wont work with certain interfaces and a full scale PC RTS that has you flying across a keyboard isnt going to work.
One thing this article didn't mention is those sites quite bluntly used copyrighted images all over to advertise. I mean the banner image was freaking Mario sprites.

Simon and Richter got into Ultimate to advertise their games on other systems.
I'm seeing a trend...

Cute gimmick, failed as a writer.
Re: Feature: Five Lessons From The Tokyo Game Show 2018
Number 3 made no sense.
It starts as if you want people to catch other people being pervs then goes into some overly verbose literary battle to decode.
Re: Talking Point: What We Love And Hate About The Nintendo Switch Online Smartphone App
I use Discord, but that's not exclusive to Switch things as an alternative.
It's the same with PS4 and Xbox One and even native VC via PC Games. Discord is just better.

Re: Rumour: The Brand New Pokémon From Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Has Potentially Leaked
@Silly_G Have you seen some of the Pokemon in this series? Magnets, balls, ice creams, origami, cable ties...
Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer
People wanted a Netflix, expanding style of classic games for years, complaining they had to rebuy individual titles.
Now they got what they want, and want to go back.
Why?

Re: Random: Warner Bros. Seems A Little Unsure On How The Switch Actually Works

Either way, as a company I certainly wouldn't waste money on something that wont yield much if any profit.

What planet are you on that cycles the sun that fast?
Re: Bethesda's Pete Hines Says Switch Game Releases Have Been A Huge Success
@kobashi100 32GB cards already exist. Dragon Quest Heroes 1 + 2 in Japan comes on one 32GB card.

Re: Rumour: Dark Souls II Now In Development For Nintendo Switch
@RyanSilberman Like they already are on PS4/Xbox One. The Trilogy is just a limited release thing for NA/Asia.
Still...I'll believe this when I see it. Then again, Bandai Namco did say they were kicking themselves.

This is a global Nindies Direct. Enjoy.
Re: Review: Tiny Hands Adventure (Switch eShop)
Pretty much the conclusion I came to when I did articles on this game a while ago, but with one notable difference.
I did mention that some of the ideas displayed would do wonders fully expanded in a sequel. Kind of a Sonic 1 going to Sonic 2 scenario.
That and I was able to give them loads of feedback for an upcoming patch (On PC at least).
Maybe it comes to Switch? I'll need to ask them.

@hatch I try not to deal with fanboys.
Re: Telltale's The Walking Dead Seasons 1, 2 And 3 Are All Coming To Switch This Year
@Spoony_Tech Because they were already working on it, and it's episodic and won't conclude until Xmas.
So rather than wait until that ends, just put this out now to fill the gaps, instead of delaying the start of the final season.

Funny that.

@electrolite77 He owes 27 million currently.
But yeah looking at past disclosures he holds for a 6 to 8 month window it seems. So it wouldnt be based on yearly results.
Seems he took this out in April/May
Re: The US Trader Who Bet $400 Million Against Nintendo Takes Huge Hit As Stock Price Soars
@electrolite77 We know he's bet against these figures because its a short bet. Those are typically weeks to a few months.
This individual in particular never holds for more than 8 months
