Re: Switch 2 Users Are Reporting Instances Of Their Consoles Overheating

HaNks

@datamonkey it's such a shame when Nvidia tech is so efficient this system is being hamstrung by the lousy process. low clocks, bad battery life and understandably plenty of heat in the process. and we're stuck with this performance an entire generation unless they're willing to offer different profiles on a refresh. people say the system would have been more expensive but they're selling the JP only unit for $100 less without taking a loss.

ultimately it's short-sighted, the SOC should have been redesigned on a better process as soon as the system was coming any later than 2023.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 2 To Launch In June With 3-Phase Software Plan

HaNks

With the Switch being 8 years old there is absolutely no way this launch can be anything but amazing on all fronts if Nintendo wants to repeat the success of the Switch. This means first party (which won't all come at once) being supplemented by third party ports & exclusives day 1. If the launch line-up is not impressive after all this time people will simply wait to upgrade.

Re: New Mario Kart 9 Teased For Switch 2

HaNks

this is not what i expected from a first look at MK9 or whatever it's called. we're two generations on from MK8...i thought this was more MK8 DLC initially before taking a closer look. 24 players is why it's more basic looking, i guess? dissapointing either way...

Re: 'The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom' Launches In May 2023

HaNks

anyone who has been following the Switch 2/Pro/4k whatever you want to call it train knows this is exactly the window when it's dropping. when they actually show the game in-depth we'll see it running on the new hardware. my money is on them dropping on the same day, makes too much sense.

Re: 'Switch Pro' Trends On Social Media After Massive Nvidia Leak Reignites Speculation

HaNks

@countzero some of the GPU details have already been found, as has the confirmed DLSS & ray tracing support. and this isn't even the full leak hackers are threatening which could contain the entire specs. when a customised chip is this far in development there's no going back, it's a huge investment. it's just a matter of when, though noteworthy that Orin (the chip T239 in based off) launches this Spring.

Re: 'Switch Pro' Trends On Social Media After Massive Nvidia Leak Reignites Speculation

Whether it's a Pro or Switch 2 is a matter of semantics & ultimately marketing. Likely Nintendo go with Switch 4k or some variation as it's USP. This will still be a part of the Switch 'generation' if that even means anything and as for the hardware it's a giant leap. The finer spec details (eg we already knew it was based on Nvidia Orin) scoured from the leak are pretty beastly for a handheld. Exciting stuff!
