i'd rather try and keep everything at 1080/60 in both docked and handheld than anything 4k. obligatory OLED screen as nintendo titles will look great on one.

@Petriebird agree, Impossible Lair is closer to the original controls though. never liked Returns/Tropical Freeze for that reason.

better art style than Returns or Tropical Freeze. the originals are just classics.

@KitsuneNight Unbounded wasn't proper Ridge Racer. the last Ridge Racer on the console side was RR7.

a DKR style game would be amazing

@Cyrax77 the DCKR series never felt right for me due to how the platforming is excessively choregraphed. brilliantly designed? sure, but without the sense of weight and responsiveness i got from the SNES titles. Impossible Lair is closer to the originals due to how much more freedom you have with the controls

don't want to upset people but i much prefer the controls/handling to the DCKR series.

DCKR & Tropical Freeze didn't feel like the original DKC games if you ask me. the handling was very different and obviously the art style is somewhat bright & generic in contrast to Rare's classics. the real question is whether this captures the 'feel' of those earlier DKC titles in its controls which felt less smooth in the newer titles, finely tuned as the game design was.

so it's more like the original DKC titles than DKCR? that's what it looks like and what i wanted to hear

proper communication functionality is essential. xbox 360 did it over a decade ago and anything less in unacceptable.

main question for me is whether Kamiya is directing or not. B2 was great but not the masterpiece that was the original. also not expecting a 2018 release but that's OK.

YES!!!! and real Ridge Racer please not that unbounded nonsense. rumours were flying about a HD remake of one of the earlier titles, so perhaps 'RR8' is part remake or the remake project morphed into a brand new entry. either way exciting!

seems they are taking the mickey by still including the download code for a special edition. the whole point of a special edition is the physical aspect. they can just increase the price for the second cart, if they have to. love a good steelbook but i won't be supporting this.

@Zyph in reality i think it's to do with Nintendo's child friendly stance (at the cost of the 'core' console user base) and the worry they have about children communicating with pedophiles or people saying inappropriate things to them.

something that in theory should be remedied with parental controls, which they already have, but clearly there is some kind of deeper paranoia there. either way it's a very backward approach to something that's been standard since the xbox 360.

can't believe people are trying to make a technical argument for lack of voice chat, talk about apologist. the amount of overhead in the OS would be absolutely minimal. it will take more resources in order to stream the audio from this external device than it would to have it on there in the first place. 'elegant' solution indeed.

another device just to do something the switch could easily support by itself is an outrageous & cumbersome solution. nintendo should be ashamed of pitching this to their audience in 2017, voice chat has been a standard feature in consoles for over a decade.
