Re: The eBay Scalpers Are At It Already With The Super NES Classic Edition

Grandpa_Pixel

@UmbreonsPapa I walked into GAME and pre-ordered 4 FE Fates editions. I think they honestly don't care. Fortunately one was for me, another was a gift and the other two were for my friends.

At the end of the day, companies are not going to limit people buying their stock. The 1 per customer is an optional benefit. One that I personally really welcome

@ThanosReXXX Unfortunately it contradicts the law and free will so it will never happen. Doesn't stop me hating them every bit. I was tempted to scalp once. That Marth amiibo back in 2014? I then realized I was too kind hearted. So instead I help fight against the scalpers all I can.

Sadly making money at the expense of others is all around us. Cheap labour runs our stores. Cheap labour make our clothes. We are humans exploit every chance we get. Not all of us mind you. Violence never solves it. But shouting in public that they are filth and scalp damages their reputation as a human being. Far more damaging

I had a spare NES and sold it on. But that happened last month when I thought my order was all dead and buried and it arrived on my doorstep. So I put an auction up eBay as no-one wanted it. Told them as long as I got my costs covered the price did not matter and profits do not matter. But I made a nice profit. So I donated it to charity and kept what I needed to cover my costs. If I make gains I'd rather it went to charity and helped less fortunate people out.

If it helps, it took the SNES Mini a lot longer to run out of pre-orders. About 6+ hours I counted. Crazy stuff!

If I had known that I probably would have sold you the spare I had for RRP + shipping.

All I hope is that everyone can find their pre-orders. My spares are being used to stop my friends and gaming group fall victim to scalpers.

@ThanosReXXX For what? I hate to side with scalpers but it is not illegal to do so. They pre-ordered them so have full legal right in what they do with the pre-order. Possession is a large percentage of the law. Even eBay have done all they can by limiting it to 30 days pre-sale. But then they would just post them later.

Granted it is disgusting and poisonous. But there is nothing in the law that prevents them doing so. They are doing it by the book.

shudders I just sided with scalpers. I need to take a wash...

Re: The eBay Scalpers Are At It Already With The Super NES Classic Edition

@Shanehorn I do the same. But I have higher number of pre-orders because I know there are many in my gaming group who wants Minis/Amiibos/Special Editions so I grab in bulk and sell on for what I paid so they get them at the price they are supposed to.

It's all about helping those who missed out. The satisfaction of a good deed is far more important than money. Besides, if I made any money I'd just donate it to charity instead. Like you I'd feel off about making profit when I could instead help someone out.

I think what bothers me most about this is not the price or how they buy in bulk. That is just the world of business people. Dog eat dog world. Money makes the world go round and all that.

What bothers me is how quick they are to post it on eBay and start reaping it in. They have no sense of morality in it.

If say someone had a spare pre-order and posted a listing a few weeks or a month before it was released, then I could believe they just happened to have a spare and wanted to make some pocket money

But this? What these scalpers do is disgusting.

Re: Deals: Pre-order Super Mario Odyssey Today in the UK and Get a Cappy Hat

Grandpa_Pixel

@SLIGEACH_EIRE True but we both know the Wii U needed a lower price to sell its games. Whereas the Switch has been a glowing success in sales so far so the price is realistically the £38-£40. Now if the Switch was as big a flop as the Wii U we would definitely see it go down to £35.

I don't think we can compare port graphics as they are just ports. But I managed to get the Switch version of BotW for £41 and the normal for £35. And having seen both in play as my partner has his own copy, I can confirm the £6 difference is justified.

While I agree that £60 is excessive, that is just the way the industry as a whole is going these days. Walking through local game shops have seen it like that. £50-60 is the common norm now.

Re: Deals: Pre-order Super Mario Odyssey Today in the UK and Get a Cappy Hat

Grandpa_Pixel

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Can I be honest? £35 for a first party game on a new console is unrealistic. I am a regular bargain hunter for Nintendo goods and so far on average I find the games for is £38 which isn't far off. That is using price comparison websites, discount codes and other techniques.

What I have found is that you can easily get Switch first party games for £40 and 3DS for £30. Trying to reach £35 is a blessing but if you want it day one you are not going to likely be able to achieve this.

And I agree with @GravyThief and his approaches. Any gifts are a bonus but the games are the priority.

Re: Battle Chasers And Sine Mora EX Are Getting Physical Releases On Switch, At A Cost

Grandpa_Pixel

Well it does make sense. The cartridges are tiny and their memory size for that physical size is no mere feat. These things cost compared to the standard price of a CD/DVD or Blu-Ray. Having nice things always costs more.

If Nintendo made a more powerful Switch or a longer battery life I guarantee the Switch would cost more. It is no different to the accessories, the games or the DLC.

Re: Video: There Are Actually More Games Called Star Fox Than You Might Imagine

Grandpa_Pixel

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Now that post makes your opinion valid (assuming they are indeed your copies). I wish more people confirmed they bought the game and still had a negative opinion rather than spout any old rubbish.

This is why you will never see me bash Call of Duty. I never buy them so I keep my mouth shut about it. I have yet to play Star Fox Zero though (Despite being in my collection) so I will have to try it out sometime and give my opinion
