Re: Limited Run Games Reveals Golf Story Collector's Edition, Pre-Order Next Friday

Grandpa_Pixel

@RupeeClock I sat down and realized whatever Limited Run Games did to make that trophy happen, you could not do it on a better budget yourself. So I'm definitely going to pick this up. It's going to be a great piece on my shelf!

As for Yooka Laylee, I got my Collector's Edition as not only was it nice but it wrapped up a bad saga with Playtonic.

Originally I pledged over £400 for that N64 cartridge and Wii U physical. Then when there was no hope for a physical Switch version I got all my money refunded (it went towards the Monster Hunter amiibo and a nice break for me and my partner)

When they announced this edition I was absolutely thrilled as it meant not only did I save money but I finally get what I originally wanted all along. Even if it took years.

And I bought the SMRPG one because the action figures look kickass. As for Dust? Really wanted that game for SO LONG!

@RupeeClock I have to agree.

I've bought three of their special editions and looking to buy this one. I bought the Saturday Morning RPG, Dust and Yooka Laylee one. Now granted a lot of the special editions out there are...less desirable. But every so often then make one that makes me go "well that's neat, I'll buy it!". I almost did that with Night Trap but the game isn't my thing.

I also know when Cosmic Star Heroine comes along I will be buying all the bells and whistles like that because I love that game. It's Sci-Fi Chrono Trigger.

Whenever it comes to a CE however I always sit down, work out the individual costs for the pieces and come to a conclusion. Sometimes I say yes and others I say "not worth it sadly". That way I feel happy knowing my money is well spent.

But then this is the point. I am buying them because they interest me and the Collector's Editions actually feel worth my money and special. And to me, I am happy paying that sort of money on it.

Yes, they may be expensive. Yes, I might be getting ripped off. But what company doesn't rip off their customers? All companies buy cheap materials to sell for a higher price. That's how business works.

And I am okay with that.

Re: Rumour: CoroCoro Appears To Confirm That Smash Ultimate Actually Has 108 Stages

Grandpa_Pixel

To be fair, we have that unannounced Monster Hunter stage that was shown off. And considering Rathalos appears as an Assist too, it makes no sense to have a stage just to fight it. That would be a waste.

So it is likely a Monster Hunter stage is happening. So that would make the count 104. So finding another 4 stages considering it's Sakurai is actually very plausible.

Re: Retail Release Of The Banner Saga Trilogy Requires Net Download And microSD Card

Grandpa_Pixel

That's a sale gone for me sadly. I really am all for game preservation and so for me, any title that is half-cart, half-download is a complete no go for me.

The only time I accepted it was for Starlink and that's to get the nice Arwing figure. And even then I had to justify it.

I appreciate people preferring digital / physical. But no-one wanted this unnatural middle ground of both. If a title can't be 100% physical, it shouldn't be physical at all.

Re: Review: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Switch)

Grandpa_Pixel

Hang on one minute. You give Crash Bandicoot a 7/10 and yet you'll give Yooka Laylee an 8/10?

Don't you think those scores should be the other way around? Sorry but Yooka Laylee may have fixed up the issues of its game, but Crash Bandicoot and its sequels was still miles better than Yooka's offerings.

Re: Review: Battle Chasers: Nightwar (Switch)

Grandpa_Pixel

This lines up perfectly with my play time of the game. I can't wait to jump back into it today on my bus ride.

You should definitely pick this game up if you like RPGs. Do not let the performance scare concern you as it doesn't really impact the game that much

This is one of those titles that is worth its asking price

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May (North America)

Grandpa_Pixel

@Reignmaker Actually the frame rate is nice and the handheld display is crisp!

But there are load times for areas (ranging from quick to Lego City Uncover) and I did get the rare split-second freeze. But so far there is nothing that makes me go "eugh this was horrible". Battles require loading the first time but after they don't need loading commonly. I would assume the game sacrifices loading times in favor of a nice running game. Which for the most part pays off well!

Why? Because aside these two things it runs pretty well, looks pretty well. And there didn't seem to be anything that couldn't be solved with patching.

Let's just say in the grand scale of games like WWE 2K18 and RiME (pre-patching) in existance, this one definitely does not have me returning it to the store demanding my money back

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May (North America)

@ThanosReXXX I have been considering it highly. The game looks great artistically and I can only imagine how amazing the comics must be even more beautiful.

@Kiz3000 365Games. However I can't vouch if they are doing it for all customers. I might have been the exception to the rule. I just went there as I had Player Points a plenty to use. Lucky me eh? xD

Re: Review: South Park: The Fractured But Whole (Switch)

Grandpa_Pixel

@Shiryu There's an answer to this

Despite looking similar, the games actually have two different engines behind it. FBW uses the Snowdrop engine which is also what Mario+Rabbids uses. Whereas the SoT uses a different engine.

By Ubisoft electing not to port it, it is a safe bet to assume the amount of work to port it to the Switch would be too difficult from an engine basis. Whereas FBW could because the Snowdrop engine was already working with Mario+Rabbids

It's also a good reason why we are getting Starlink. That too is made in Snowdrop.

Re: Rumour: Pokémon Switch's Release Date Could Be As Early As November This Year

Grandpa_Pixel

I came to this conclusion of an early-November release through research on Game Freak and their activities. They typically release October/November (sometimes early year) and 1 to 2 years.

Now in reflection to Switch, that would indicate it is either holiday 2018 or they will make it a next year title.

But considering during E3 they made mention of it already being in development, my bets are on this year.

Re: GameMaker Studio 2 Comes To Nintendo Switch

Grandpa_Pixel

Hotline Miami can now come to the Switch

Being a Game Maker user, this holds many opportunities. But I think I would rather get my line-up solid before considering consoles. But hey! Switch 2 comes along and I will be there with a line-up
